There is another Macro Mondays challenge to consider:

Fill the frame, but only with plants. So I picked up an orange and some peppercorns to play with.

Concurrently I was thinking of Utata's Iron Photographer Challenge 21:

1 - fruit (an orange peel, lit from behind)

2 - something black (peppercorn or reflective phone screen)

3 - close up (Macro mode)

I wound up here, liking the pattern.

Watercolour, ink and gouache on 140lb paper

With heat coursing from his lungs,

And tearing up his throat,

The searing ball of flame erupted into the night.

The dragon let loose a cry

Filled with passion and pain,

While we trembled in awe in the warmly humid light.

Beta testing is not going well for this product.

Iron Photographer 207 dictates:

1 - something in ice (popcorn in ice cubes, a lousy idea)

2 - a Roshambo item (paper, stone counter two-fer)

3 - shot on a counter top

Popcorn ice cubes are soggy and unappealing on a plate or anywhere else. I floated some in tonic water under UV light to eke out some panache.

Utata's Iron Photographer challenge 253 asks for compositions with:

1 - tissue

2 - mirror

3 - soft focus

A collection of hand mirrors and facial tissue seemed to fit the bill. The extreme soft focus suggested the sepia toning, to resemble an image from a poorly focused vintage camera.

Student protestors march past a photographer doing his job.

Wire art work (steel - diameter 3.0 mm, granite stone)

Utata's Iron Photographer asks for compositions containing certain elements:

1 - your foot or feet

2 - paved surface (brick street)

3 - something red (reddish Dawn clouds)

Without access to Lightroom for a time I am using Olympus Master out of necessity. Ugh.

It was a great day for a walk in the rain, but no one else was walking.

Utata's summer project 2015 invites breaking rules of composition.

Why am I on this stupid float?

The laughter and screaming are boring.

I'd rather be home with watching TV

Kid, you're missing out on all the fun.

all the sights and sounds to be had.

Don't regret what you missed, boy.

I imagine a hard-boiled detective narrating some miserable experience: "The morning shower was cold, driving through me like so many nails. My throbbing headache demanded morning coffee. There was not even a dusty remnant left in the can so I tossed it into a corner with a clatter. This long forgotten teabag turned up while rooting around in a drawer. I hope it has caffeine."

IP257 asks for compositions containing:

1 - two things

2 - connected by string. twine, or rope

3 - square format

Note: \wispy appearing steam would be possible with a slow exposure and a stable light source instead of a flash.

This modified Harris Shutter Effect (HSE) image of emphasizes differences between three sequential photos while turning static features black. A moving camera (me, walking) introduced parallax between successive images. Warping to align some background features caused others to distort. The leaning cyclist is reminiscent of leaning race cars, as photographed in the early 20th century with a focal plane shutter, and suggests haste.

This modified Harris Shutter Effect image emphasizes things that move and other differences between three sequential photos while turning the background black. A slow shutter speed and shallow focus were selected to blur the atheletes. Registration errors, due in part to different focus points giving different sized bokeh, leave ghostly outlines of some gym and ball features. Targeted EV adjustment (+1.0) of the ball brought out details.

One visitor is absorbed elsewhere, it seems.

This composite is from a sequence of photos taken at a Walker art center. This background registered version of Liminal Viewing No. 3 gives a static background and moving subject.

I imagined viewing an installation through the 'ghosts' of passing people, as generated by the Harris shutter effect, might express the liminal experience of people interacting with the art.

Beautiful leg shape,The Fine Art of Photography,美しい脚の形,美脚,

Utata's Iron Photographer challenge #224 inspires photos with the following elements:

1 - something to drink (rum, for some)

2 - a note to self (while cooking)

3 - soft color (vibrance, saturation turned down)

The "soft color" component is poorly defined, so I chose a pastel post-it then, in lightroom, turned down vibrance and saturation by 20%.

Oil on canvas by Martin Beek (March 2010)

Following my trip to Aix en Provence last month (February 2010). Have made a series of charcoal/ink and gouache studies after a number of Cezanne's paintings. I have not paid note of the colour of these works, which would be a study in itself, rather I've concentrated on the dynamic surfaces and forms. at present I'm working on a series of landscape paintings and hope to incorporate some of these ideas into my own work.

This is my first oil copy after Cezanne.

Throughout my life I have made copies after paintings and find they are a great way to stimulate one's own imaginative life and creativity. Once recorded in a digital way further work is also possible.

美しい脚の形 美脚 The Fine Art of Photography,
