Topaz Restyle modified the color palette with one from a cross-processed image I admire, then vignetting was added to reduce background distractions
Puffball portrait practice on a windy day. The camera just needs to be 1.5-2 feet away for DOF through the puffball (when focus is on near bits).

Oil on canvas by Martin Beek (March 2010)
Following my trip to Aix en Provence last month (February 2010). Have made a series of charcoal/ink and gouache studies after a number of Cezanne's paintings. I have not paid note of the colour of these works, which would be a study in itself, rather I've concentrated on the dynamic surfaces and forms. at present I'm working on a series of landscape paintings and hope to incorporate some of these ideas into my own work.
This is my first oil copy after Cezanne.
Throughout my life I have made copies after paintings and find they are a great way to stimulate one's own imaginative life and creativity. Once recorded in a digital way further work is also possible.

この作品の脚は、特に美しいわけではない。だが、この脚は、かつて存在し、今も、この画像と同一ではないが、存在する。現在の脚は、この時よりは美しい。または、そうではないかもしれない。

For Utata's weekend project "Night" (18 November - 2 December, 2016)
Towards midnight the fog is dense on the willow path, which crosses the creek by the lake.
I am exploring ways to create a low-fi "Lomography look". I have returned to an old, low resolution and slow superzoom camera to experiment. The slow lens leads to significant blur at all but minimal zoom, affording appreciably unsharp images,
The flat, dull palette native to the camera was enhanced in Topaz Restyle using an image in Singleelder's cross-processing article ans a model.
Utata's Big summer project 2014 invites us to take photos with a mobile device (phone, tablet). My interpretation is to do more with less, along the lines of DigitalRev's Pro photographer, Cheap camera challenge. This day I had a 0.3 MP cell phone camera to attempt "something ironic".
Strategy:
Low MP photo is easier to view if there are fewer simple elements to interpret - a light, fingers, smile, etc. The plain background drives attention to these elements.
Update
I ran across a self portrait of Lillian Bassman and Paul Himmel that I wish had been my inspiration.
Scream in pride,
Scream in shame.
Scream for joy,
Scream in pain.
Scream if you're gay,
and scream the anger away.

Dancing, spinning in that tight orbit
Twisting, burning without a limit
Hypnotic in their flow
We know not where they go
As they gyre through the night
With long shadows cast by their light.

This foggy morning I tried overexposing the image to look into in the shadows. A slow shutter allowed blurring of the car.
This is likely the last image processed during a free trial of DXO optics pro. It is nifty and could be worth the price if only It covered more of the cameras I own.

This much beloved work is by Afro American artist Jonathan L. Chase. Rest assured he is making a name for himself with his drawings and mix media artwork that is his own despite far reaching influences from the likes of Romare Bearden to Jean-Michel Basquiat to a Kehinde Wiley. Handsomely breathtaking is the best way to describe the passion within all his work.
To see more of his work visit these places: Black Autumn on Tumblr and Facebook. and HERE.
The male of African descent is human in his work. Even in work that may come across as a bit risqué to the eyes of some viewers, there is a humanity not denied. Presentations of those men who can be obviously construed as same gender loving are not played up to be ridiculed or lampooned for a laugh. But, whether sexually ambiguous or not, the male of African descent’s entire form is treated with respect engendering his strength, integrity, courage and never to be set aside, his struggle within a larger society where it often seems like his life has no value and worth. Chase shuns this latter as certain untruthfulness.

But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

This is also drawn in a similar way to my After Cezanne series looking at picture surface and mark making. I was trying to fuse some of the ideas of multiple perspectives and description of form my recent studies.
This seems like a six-word-story scene.
This image reminded me of the nebulously defined aesthetic of Felt Life before its founder and several admins abandoned it. Several hundred thousand images later, it is unclear if it is curated. But if you head back to circa 2007 images you can have a glimpse of what was intended.

Utata's Iron Photographer challenge # 275 asks for compositions with:

2. A location where we don't expect to find a sheet (or drapery)
3. A Gothic mood (needs more shadow, perhaps)

The world class Rijksmuseum presents an opportunity to see objects that appear in books. For one person, captivated by a phone, the book was more than enough. This is from an effort to take photos without recognisable faces while visiting Amsterdam.

Iron photographer 209 invited cross-processed compositions. Lacking a film lab that could turn things around in reasonable time, I set out to explore various options for the cross-processed effect, taking a trial of DFT film stock along the way. I was interested because it includes several presets including the brownish cast expected from Fuji Sensia.
This image was processed during a free trial period of DFT film stocks using the high contrast cross-processed Fuji Sensia preset. The yellow and brown casts enhanced trees while the increased contrast reduced background distractions.

The crowning rays, reminiscent of the Statue of Liberty, caught my attention. The superior visage seems disdainful from this perspective, as though admonishing the onlooker for taking a photo. A fuzzy closeup, from a different perspective, may be found here.
Regrettably, I did not record artist or subject information. However, this figure may be found in Vienna at one entrance to the library, beside this view.
