Puffball portrait practice on a windy day. Working on focus first, light second.
126 in 2026: 106/126 (superstition)
Superstitions include making a wish on dandelion puffball while blowing away seeds and a haunted house. The recently partially burned Mckelvey house lost a large portion of the roof and all window glass, so breezes through the structure cause interior doors and/or loose shutters to gently open and clap closed as if by a ghostly hand.

Utata's Iron Photographer asks for compositions containing certain elements. This time around they are:
1 - string (on cello)
2 - one or more eggs (naturally brown)
3 - cinematic aspect ratio
A museum is only alive when people visit. This idea seemed best represented by colored ghosts of the live crowd in the black & white museum. Digital Harris shutter effect made by combining different RGB color layers from three sequentially shot frames.
For the curious, this is the Philadelphia, museum of art. The desaturated background was achieved by using color layers from images with different exposure values, effectively giving blue +1 EV, green +0 EV, and red -1 EV.
Edit: The method I think I used may be different than what I actually did. I don't have access to photoshop at the moment, so I can't verify this. The odd colors of the ghosts suggest I did something different. As noted by Hello, I am Bruce (below) the background is completely monochrome. This effect can be achieved by converting the source images to monochrome before further manipulation. Using these for the three color layers in the composite will give color where images differ (things moving), and B&W elsewhere. Look here for an example and description of method.

I happened to be walking downtown during a recent downpour.
Technical Details
Straightening, cropping, and color balancing were followed by contrast enhancement, using Topaz Restyle to partially replace (blend) the color palette with one from a high contrast, cross-processed image I admire.
I have recently discovered the British archaeological program Time Team. I enjoy watching them dig countless trenches in the earth and, critically, formulate and reformulate hypotheses based on emerging evidence. I can just imagine Phil Harding asserting, "Here's PROOF of antebellum human activity from the bottom layer of this trench!"
Utata's Iron Photographer challenge 212 requests:
1 - a thing in the palm of your hand (an old penny)
2 - your hand resting on a flat surface (cardboard)
3 - holga-fied (Mike Gray's Holga - Kodak T-Max preset, underexposed)
There are also archaeological symbols of dirt (morning coffee grounds), a boot, a trowel for scraping into trenches, and an 1851 penny I ran across in a junk box years ago. Not a valuable coin, as I am told, but still an attractive relic of a rather unattractive period.

Utata's Iron Photographer challenge 245 asked for compositions with:
1 - a face (LEGO person)
2 - something that illuminates (UV bulb, background lamp)
3 - aged (see below)
I wanted to work in color while creating an aged look. The base image was shot with an Olympus TG-4, fitted with the FD-1 flash diffuser, to make the fluorescent bulb appear dark against a bright background. The "aged" color was constructed using DXO Optics (Kodak 25 film preset), Analog EFX (Classic camera 2 preset, vignetting) before a vintage Polaroid border was used to enhance the impression.
Yet another foggy morning...

Utata's Iron Photographer Challenge 285 wants:
1. something which is entirely a primary colour (yellow)
2. something which is entirely a secondary colour (green)
3. Lens flare (Wide aperture = blobby flare of reflected sun)
This image was generated using the in camera multiple exposure function, which requires the second image to be added within one minute of the first or it "forgets". The overexposed original was darkened with Topaz Restyle (High Contrast BW4 preset).

The iron photographer challenge project - three things and a deadline for composition - seems to have ended. I recently watched a video from Shoot film like a boss for inspiration, and saw one where he was looking for curves, shadows, and high contrast as he stuck his camera into a leather couch. I remembered this on a later walk.
Taken for Summer 2018 Roll Film Week.
This bounced into explore so I thought I should add some info.
The image was taken with a Canonet QL17GIII loaded with Kodak Gold 200. Lab development and scanning gave a low contrast, bland image. Contrast and color were enhanced with Topaz Restyle (Black and Hot Pink Paint preset, 50% normal blending mode). This minimized distracting glare on the surface and accentuated the different tones in the rocks.
I imagined this was the seat of ideas (or A-Ha! moments) where the figurative light bulb is already on above the sitter's head.
They say, “home is where the heart is.”
On that, I’ll never know.
Home is the post that holds my hitch.
