This ad was published November 3, 1942 by the “Committee on Jobs for Negros in Public Utilities” in the Washington Post calling on the Capital Transit Company to hire African American streetcar and bus operators to alleviate idle cars and buses attributable to the lack of operators.
The ad is signed by a wide variety of prominent leaders with everyone from Congressmen, religious leaders, labor leaders, civil rights leaders and communists. The ad also calls for a mass rally on Nov. 3, 1942 at the Vermont Ave. Baptist Church.

I had a lot of help to get this mill home. I wish I would have had the gumption to get pictures of all the stages: Leon and Seth loading me up at the Alemeda Naval Station (those warehouses are amazing!), the fine folks at Santa Cruz MotorSports had a go at unloading it from the truck with their auto lift, but it wasn't quite tall enough. . . Jeff larkey hoisting it off the truck at the farm office; and then Dave loading it back up onto a farm truck with a pallet jack, and then Leo helping me lower it on the lift gate (which turned out to have hydraulic issues and was slightly scarey. . . Home at last.
