Coincidentally the weekend we arrived in Lisbon it was Open House Weekend. We didn't build it into our plans at all, and only learned it was happening when we were headed to the Palace at Ajuda; we chose not to adjust our plans to take advantage.
Assignment52- I love the details in old, worn or used items and so no matter how messy or spoilt something maybe it can also still be very beautiful!
Taken on the 3rd night of imaging in Tenerife I captured the M25 an open cluster in Sagittarius . From the UK this is very low at around +19 degrees, but in Tenerife it is +37 degrees! It was taken as part of our 9th year of travelling with the Basingstoke Astronomical Society Expedition Group. The cluster is set within the Sagittarius star field within one of the most densest parts of the Milky Way.
Messier 25, also known as IC 4725, is an open cluster of stars in the southern constellation of Sagittarius. The first recorded observation of this cluster was made by Philippe Loys de Chéseaux in 1745 and it was included in Charles Messier's list of nebulous objects in 1764. The cluster is located near some obscuring features, with a dark lane passing near the center.
M25 is at a distance of about 2,000 light-years light-years away from Earth and is 67.6 million years old. The spatial dimension of this cluster is about 13 light-years across. It has an estimated mass of 1,937 M☉, of which about 24% is interstellar matter.[4] A Delta Cephei type variable star designated U Sagittarii is a member of this cluster, as are two red giants, one of which is a binary system - Information care of en.wikipedia.org

I found this stitch a bit hard to 'get', and ended up using it largely as a couching stitch. I was hoping it would look a bit like branches across a pond. Blogged here - randomapplique.blogspot.com/2007/01/take-stitch-tuesday-o...

Vintage Friday:
Open bridge.
'Electroon" 720 on route 1 has nowhere to go during opening of the Overtoomse Sluis bridge on a quiet Sunday morning, giving us a nice view on the old "Merc" and ofcourse the classic Citroën DS.

A lovely location for a wonderful building. Sadly, like many such structures, this building is no longer in use.
This church has very open policies, open door, open window and open roof
Ali Baba comes upon the Forty Thieves, a tribe of murderous bandits that have plagued the kingdom. The thieves have been busy unloading the gold and loot they've stolen inside the cave, which can only be opened by the magic words "Open Sesame!" said by their leader.
