This little squirrel struggled for a few seconds trying to figure the best way to get inside this tall pumpkin to gain access to all those yummy nuts!
The smaller pumpkins were easier to get inside but this bigger one presented more of a challenge but, happily, perseverance paid off and no one went away empty handed.
A Facebook post told us that a Routemaster bus would be visiting Old Coulsdon today, and giving free rides on a short section of the old 190 route that used to serve our village. Imagine our delight when not one RM turned up but two, RM1214 (214CLT) dating from 1962 and RM2213 (CUV213C) from 1965, one of the last batch of standard length RMs. RM1214 was giving the rides, while RM2213 was there in support because, as is well known, London buses don’t like to be alone. Here’s the conductor complete with Gibson ticket machine, and weighed down by innumerable badges!

Under them skies of blue
Out in the great wide open,
A rebel without a clue
I'd never been so isolated. surrounded by nothing - literally! but I loved it too.
grrr: this looks totally washed out in my browser (FF 1.5.0.7), but for those of you whose browsers support colour profiles, this should look pretty decent

Can you imagine lilacs blooming in October only days before a snow storm? But they did bloom, and the snow took us all off guard. Just goes to show, you never know what possibilities lie in the moments ahead, both the good and the bad. Let's open ourselves up to all the good that can come our way. It just might surprise us. Happy Bokeh Wednesday everyone!
