Outdoor shot, sunny, 4.30PM. Temp. 8ºC.

This is the "Polaroid Time-Zero OneStep (SX-70 Rainbow)" camera, it is a Polaroid Land Camera that was produced by Polaroid in 1981.
This is a classic example of a Polaroid instant camera from the 1980s. The body of the camera is made entirely out of plastic. The camera features a 1 element plastic lens with a fixed aperture (f/14). An exposure compensation control dial which is combined with an “electronic eye” (light sensor) located on the front of the camera. The camera would have originally came bundled with the "Polaroid Flash Array"; which was a row of miniature flashbulbs that would have attached to the top of the camera (although other flash devices were also available at the time; such as the "Polaroid Q-light" flash attachment) This camera was meant as a replacement for the original "OneStep", which was produced from 1977 to 1980. The original "Polaroid OneStep SX-70" features a white face plate, while the later version (the "Time-Zero" shown above) had an all black chassis; both versions featured the classic Polaroid "Rainbow" stripe on the front of the camera.
The camera would have originally used Polaroid's SX-70 instant film; which is no longer produced by Polaroid. However, the SX-70 film can still be obtained through "The Impossible Project" website. The main breakthrough with the SX-70 film pack was that it allowed for a much faster development time, hence the name "Time-Zero". It also reportedly featured richer and brighter colors than pervious instant films. An interesting fact about the SX-70 series is that the actual "battery" for the camera is contained within the film pack itself. The "PolaPulse" battery is simply a thin flat 6 volt zinc-chloride battery; which was responsible for powering the internal electronics. Which includes the motors, exposure control, and light sensor; as well as signalling flash device to fire.

Testing out my new camera as well. Previously I used my 670AF with this film. There is less detail in this version but I think the colour in the tips of the asparagas is better.

Mangels analoger Tätigkeit (mein Labor hat zu) hab ich mal in meiner Foto-Rumpelkammer gestöbert. Und da habe ich doch sage und schreibe vier Sofortbildkameras entdeckt, die ich noch garnicht fotografiert hatte. Die werde ich jetzt nach und nach hier vorstellen.
Ich fang mal mit der Polaroid 1000 S an. Sie war die schwarze Version der Polaroid 1000, die Ende der 70er Jahre auf den Markt kam. Sie war gedacht als preisgünstige Alternative zur teuren Polaroid-SLR SX 70.
Die Polaroid 1000 ist ein recht einfacher Fotoapparat: Die Optik ist ein Fixfokus-Objektiv mit der Brennweite 103 mm und der Lichtstärke 14,6. Die Belichtungszeit variiert von 1 Sekunde bis 1/150 Sekunde. Mit dem schwarzen Drehknopf (in dem die Belichtungsmesser-Zelle versteckt ist) kann man in Maßen in die Belichtung eingreifen.
In den USA hieß die Kamera OneStep, in Europa wurde sie auch von Foto-Quelle als Revue 1001 vertrieben.
Blitzen konnte man auch damit: Entweder mit einer Blitzbirnchen-Leiste, der Flashbar, oder mit dem passenden Elektronenblitz Polatronic 1.
Der passende SX70-Film wird wieder von der neugegründeten Polaroid (vorher Impossible) hergestellt, die auch ein paar refurbished vintage Polaroid cameras anbietet.
Man kann auch den 600er Film von Polaroid verwenden. Der ist allerdings viermal empfindlicher, so dass man ein ND-Filter vor das Objektiv setzen muss, um weniger Licht durchzulassen.

54/365, I was able to salvage half of the film that I had put in my original SX70 OneStep before Impossible sent me the new one. The first four shots were a bust, but I managed a lovely leak out of this one!
Day 53 was a polabust trying to get the other 4 to work!

In early 2024 Lego released a Polaroid OneStep Land Camera as part of the "Lego Ideas" series. The camera has a working viewfinder and ejects one of three Polaroid pictures when the shutter is released!

My fifth and sixth packs of polaroids with the OneStep+ were the standard colored instant films with white frames. I started shooting them at a new year's party at the end of 2019 and continued well beyond the birth of our son on February 8th 2020.
