The Persian Gulf (Kuwait)
Taken the day before Christmas near the parliament building of Kuwait. That day was extra special for taking photos because my kids were with me. It was fun and hard at the same time managing to keep my camera safe and driving the bicycle - while holding my little boy in front and my little girl at the back! whew! guess that's how it is for dads who love photography :)))

I just posted interior and exterior shots of this really unusual out building. There is a one-time door in the back corner and I wonder if Ramey used this to bring dairy cows in for milking. Across the way, Broley was a dairy farm. I have posted the old Longmont Creamery image and I wonder if that was the target of Ramey milk. I see that the door latch was long gone from this shot. I expect that this property became unprofitable some time early on even though there were no gravel pits on the land. It's all pit now.
The wall in this shot is the back corner of the interior wall on the left. It certainly appears to be a different building in the two previous shots. This is something I did not expect and just found after a few trips out. The floods were hardly slowed by this wall when the flood hit on this side. Leaky walls also account for the Broley barn being little more than cleaned up. I always look at the Ramey farm house and stone back house for their appeal but got interested by the sheds north across another fissure. I still wonder if the stone house were the uoriginal dwelling. The Ramey story is becoming ever more intriguing to me. It would be amazing if anything could be learned about the farm life out here. Just south of here, Hygiene Road carried travelers and wagons to the Foothils Highway where there is a good connection to Jamestown, Gresham up James Creek and the small mining camps up Lefthand all the way to Ward. Here, they could pasture and keep stock for feeding the mining camps.
These sheds were already rebuilt before the floods and now they are on their last legs. BoCo rescued the sheds but I guess their efforts are for naught now. I have no idea why the county decided to prop the old sheds. The out buildings are not so good after the river washed through and undercut them. I think back to the working days of the farm and wonder how busy and productive the Ramey place might have been?
Find several shots of Ramey in a photeoset. On this day, I parked at the Broley gate and walked down to Ramey. Apparently, the water streamed up to 4 feet high over Ramey. The pond south of Broley overflowed everywhere including Ramey after the floods cut through the gravel pits around Broley and sliced through 61st Street and rejoined the original St.Vrain.
There are piles of detritus laying about in what was left of the pastures. Some folks are convinced the river ought to be moved back to some of its original, some places empty, course. Darwin should chime in on that idea; he allowed forebears to make a mess of it in the first place. The farmers are screaming about rebuilding ditches before spring. Have at it guys. The bridge, roads and private holdings are still going to require some serious work. Today they were working on the dirt road south of Broley but I instead walked the river route..

In coastal North Carolina, the summers can be absolutely stifling. With temperatures steadily in the upper 90s and humidity levels to match, just moving through the day can prove difficult. Three changes of clothing per day are not unheard of.
It's no surprise that we usually flee the state late in the season, heading up to New England to camp and hike.
As we travel from NC toward New England, each day brings progressively cooler temperatures. Like stepping into a walk-in refrigerator, the relief is palpable, and we breathe a little easier for every degree of latitude we gain.
Two days into our drive north in 2010, we stumbled onto Hammonasset Beach State Park in Connecticut. It was surprisingly nice given its proximity to large metro areas, and if we had more time in the schedule, we would have stayed an extra couple of nights.
Early one morning, I rolled out of the tent to find the sunrise bouncing through a fog bank that had rolled off of Long Island Sound. The grasses were wet with dew, and the local wildlife was just getting started for the day.
It has been dastardly hot in NC for this time of year. Through late May and into this early in June, we're already breaking temperature records with highs of around 98. I felt I needed a little relief from the weather (and from posting farm and garden shots!), so I dragged this one out of the archives as a reminder -- an incentive to get through the upcoming summer months.

I'm slowly running images through Lightroom and testing out processing choices etc...still uncertain about alot of the options I have but just tagging and sorting is a big plus.
Deleted 4000 images yesterday and today. Some by accident. The learning curve. Everyday just little bit more comfortable. Try not to overthink it. Just ride the wave.
I was in town (Philly) and about to take a photo of the building across the street when this fellow said, "Hey, you tryin' to take my picture? Let's do this right. Get ready and I'll start walking." Then he displayed his Eagles shirt and I snapped the shot. And he just kept on walking. You gotta love this guy!
I forgot all about taking the photo of the building. :o)

My Color Infusion Dree Hill came today and turns out she’s a perfect match to the yellow top MTM afra skin tone. She’s the light honey Integrity Toys skin tone so I’m surprised at a good match.
My resolution this year was to focus more on boy dolls and dolls of colour in general so I couldn’t resist this doll head lol.
It’s been super stormy today so there’s no good pics, but I did take her hair down and THANKFULLY there’s no short choppy bits. Weirdly though there was 5 sewing pins inside her bun.
Of course while I love the MTM match I’m tempted to put her on an Action Figure body and turn her into Lana from Archer….
... when sunny was the weather. :-)

I noticed after the fact that this BNSF transfer from TRRA's Madison Yard to BNSF's Lindenwood Yard had one of each of the three BNSF "heritage schemes." I wish the last unit was leading, but I'll take the cigar band "heritage 2" as second best.
Note the over-under with the Sperry Rail truck on the I-70 Stan Musial Veterans Memorial bridge in the background.
This plane, SAM 26000, a custom built 707 served three presidential administrations... John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, and the first term of Richard Nixon. It is the plane that took JFK to Dallas alive and well in 1963, and brought him back to Washington, well you know. It is arguably the most historically significant airplane around. At one time the victim of budget cuts, now it is back on display at the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio. A must read:
