One of the last of my garden

Its not often that you come across a picture which you took over 45 years ago you've never seen in any form. This is one such example from my own collection. As many of us will recall from the days of film photography, it was pot luck whether your first and last photo on a film 'came out'. If you were very lucky on the day, one or the other might, but often you'd get a negative with an orange serial number etched across it which many a processor declined to print. To mitigate against potential disaster I would often photograph (cringe) something I considered unimportant at the time such as people, scenery lightweight PSVs or the floor.

Moving to the present day, and I know many people treat it with scepticism, but we now have magic AI programs which can do surprising things providing results are vettet before sharing with the wider world.

Whilst this image isn't perfect, giving credit where credit is due, it had an orange vertical band and serial numbers almost obliterating the right hand quarter of the view. Other than for a little tidying up I'd do to any elderly scan, one press of a button sorted it.

To the bus. Its a Willowbrook bodied Ford R192 (a type I now wish I'd photographed greater numbers of). BTG 577J had been new to Brewers of Caerau (South Wales) in November of 1970 where it joined a predominantly AEC fleet. I took the photo on Maesteg bus station circa 1980.

The sun rises above the horizon, the frost lights up in gold, the cold sky and the warm golden light melt into an captivating experience.

I took this picture while I was teaching one my hot shots photography courses. I just ran one this weekend and had a great time doing it with a great bunch of people!

One of the tasks on the course is to shot a list of 66 things on 2 rolls on film in 3 hours, I always take part as well so the people on the course can see what I can do with 72 exposures. This was for one of "stranger at 80cm", some of the other things on the list are not so literal. The next course is on the 23rd - 24th March in Brighton.

This car was one of the vehicles on display at the Heritage Motor Centre's Roadshow at the Coys International Historic Festival meeting at Silverstone in July 1995. Known as 'Old Number One', it's not the first MG to be built, but apparently it's the first one to be built with the purpose of competing in motor sports events. The Morris Cowley bullnose origin of the car is evident and you can read here the MG Owners' Club story of the car.

When the British Leyland Motor Corporation was set up in 1968 it was decided to find out how many old vehicles were held by the various companies which were part of the new Corporation. Nearly 100 were found and in 1975 Leyland Historic Vehicles was formed to maintain this fleet of vehicles. The British Motor Heritage Trust was formed in 1983 which then led to the Heritage Motor Centre museum at Gaydon being opened in 1993. In 2000 the trust expanded to include the whole of the British motor industry and the museum now has a collection of nearly 300 vehicles, and after a major refurbishment in 2015/16 it reopened as the British Motor Museum.

This was the first time I stepped foot in Hangar One at Moffett Field, Mountain View. As a matter of fact, I drove by it many times on the freeway and could only see it from the far distance until last weekend. I was awed by such an immense structure when viewing it up close. This photo was taken at midfield showing just one half of the hangar. According to Wikipedia, the entire hangar covers 8 acres of the airfield and it 's supposed to be one of the largest free standing structures in the world.

One of my favorite poses so far of this little guy

Though my parents had taken me out when I was younger, I really only started hiking only back in 2006. I fell in love with mountains and snow and started to take photos of them. Winter was my favourite alpine season. Fresh white landscapes with few people made for many a great day out.

In order to capture the golden hours around the edges of daylight I started to do more overnight trips. Wonderful colours to bask in and hunkering down for the night was extremely satisfying.

But only in the last few years have I begun to hike in the summer months. I have no idea why I resisted for so long. The longer days make walking among melted tarns and alpine meadows a joy to experience.

I thought I was going to get out every weekend during August and capture each valley on my list. But I only managed this one. Upper Gott Creek. It think it might be my first alpine wildflower sunset. I hope there will be many more of them to share with you.
