Yes, unbelievable, but I did leave the premises today and went to see the unfamiliar in Hawrelak Park. Hundreds of birds there and same number of people. Since I don’t like to stand and wait for my shots I relaxed on a bench and apparently that was invitation enough to talk to me. Great opportunity to practice my small talk and was actually quite proud of my accomplishment. Ended up talking to a lady from Californina, San Francisco of all places, one of my favorite cities. As we were chatting away, I took just one look and saw this duck flying overhead and here is the result. Long live San Fran …

This is Roxy showing her sweet expression. She is truly a sweetheart as most Boxers are. Roxy is predominantly all white with one blue eye which I chose to show off in this B/W.

One of the hardest animals to find on an African safari is the elusive leopard. During a late afternoon game drive, we were very lucky and excited when we spotted this gorgeous leopard waking up from a nap in a tree.

As part of the Ceredigion Art Trail, I will be holding a small exhibition and sale of prints and canvasses at an event at St Ursula village hall in Llangwyryfon, for one day on Sunday (18th August 2013). That's a posh way of saying I will have a table in the village hall, but all welcome (only expecting locals, please don't travel across the world or the country for this! lol). Refreshments available. It will be very informal, with lots of young people about, because the youth club are also exhibiting their art work, as well as other local artists.

This picture shows part of the Aberystwyth Castle ruins, built during the First Welsh War in the late 13th century. I turned my back on the beach at sunset for a change....

A 5 minute exposure... I could have wished for a bit more wind in those clouds!

I used the Lee Big Stopper to slow the exposure down, a Lee 0.9 soft grad, and NDCalc on my iPhone (takes the guesswork out of long exposures).

On a dull cloudy early winter day at the waterfall in Brownsberg Quebec, I did two photographs set up on my tripod. The one above HDR called Art Embossed. The one below non HDR, non filter, with ND to reduce shutter speed…

Isildur, King of Gondor: After the Battle of Dagorlad, Isildur brought the ring to Mount Doom, with Elrond. Instead of throwing it into the lava, Isildur was possessed by the ring and took it for his own.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tom Bombadil: Although he never found the ring, he wore it briefly when Frodo and his friends came to visit. The ring had no effect on old Tom, who was not possessed by it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sméagol (And Déagol): Sméagol, also later known as Gollum, was fishing with his cousin, Déagol, when the latter found the ring where Isildur had dropped it. Sméagol killed Déagol after becoming obsessed over the powerful ring.

Here are some LOTR figs I made over the past few days. I had a lot of fun posing the minifigures and creating the background, so tell me what you think in the comments! Be sure to drop a fave and follow me for more figbarfs and builds!

Without a doubt my favourite animal at Jimmy's Farm and Wildlife Park is the Armadillo! Armadillo is Spanish for 'little armoured ones'!

jimmysfarm.com/

The Six-banded Armadillo (Euphractus sexcinctus) is the third largest species of armadillo in the world. On average, an adult measures 40cm long and has a tail two-thirds this length. They are distinguished by their pointed and flattened heads, which are covered by large plates arranged in a distinctive pattern. Their body consists of 6 moveable bands (hence their name), which are covered with thin grey-brown hair.

Six-banded armadillos have very poor eyesight, relying on their keen sense of smell to detect prey and predators. The six-banded armadillo is mostly diurnal so they are active during the day. Unlike other species of armadillo, the six-banded armadillo cannot roll into a ball, so they avoid their predators by fleeing into a nearby burrow, they are fantastic diggers!

Six-banded armadillos are found throughout Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Suriname and Uruguay in South America. They can be found in various habitats, from grassland to rainforest, but they are mainly found on open plains.

One year later when the UP X4014 came east through Wisconsin, this likely will not happen again, at least anytime in the near future. At least anytime soon given the multiple situations going on in this crazy world right now.

Another stunning start to the day on The South Downs at Heyshott near Midhurst. Look closely at the mist on the hillside in the background – one of those wonderful autumn mornings.

today I started working from home due to the pandemic, and I'm still here. Less than two weeks now until I retire and all this stuff can go back to work, for good ;-)
