I decided to take a run down to Thirlestane Castle today but didn't bother going into the classic show as there was more than enough to see in the parking areas. Just after leaving the show I was absolutely stunned to see this sitting at the petrol station in Lauder. I knew there would have to be photos of it online already, but had forgotten that it was Kevin who has posted it before when it was going through his local auction. Unfortunately I didn't take the Applause out today, otherwise I would have made more effort to speak to the owner of this and get the two cars pictured together.

LB71 OBU is a BYD D8UR-DD/Alexander Dennis Enviro400 City new to Tayside Public Transport in December 2021 as their 8506.
It is seen here on Commercial Street in Dundee operating service 17 (Ninewells Hospital-Whitfield).

Solingen has a smartly presented collection of museum buses and trolleybuses. This is a relatively recent addition to the museum collection, having left Solingen in 2014 to operate with Scholten in Xanten.
In Krasnodar verkehrten bis 2013 die weltweit letzten Obus Doppeltraktionen. Bei dieser Betriebsform wurden zwei zweiachsige Solo-Oberleitungsbusse fix mit einer Kuppelstange verbunden, die Stromabnahme erfolgte meist über das hintere Fahrzeug. Früher war diese Betriebsform in zahlreichen Staaten der Sowjetunion bzw. deren Nachfolgestaaten verbreitet.

In Weimar (Thüringen) gab es zwischen 1947 und 1991 ein Obusbetrieb mit drei, später zwei Linien. Nach eine Periode der Verwahrlosung bestand das Wagenpark ab Anfang der achtziger Jahre aus neue Skoda 14Tr Obusse. Die Qualität war aber slecht. Sie waren zum Teil ursprünglich für Sarajewo gebaut worden, wurden dort aber wegen Qualitätsmangel nicht abgenommen. So entstand daraus ein Schnäppchen für die DDR (mit hohen Kosten für die Instandhaltung, aber das zeigte sich erst später). Ab 1985 kamen Gelenkobusse von Ikarus/Ganz dazu, und noch in 1991 wurden drei Stück davon übernommen vom nie eröffneten Obus-Betrieb in Suhl. Trotzdem wurde der weimarer Betrieb mit zuletzt nur noch eine Linie in 1993 eingestellt. Im Bild der Bahnhofsplatz am 4. April 1984 mit einem der noch fast neuen 14Tr Obusse. Rechts ein Ikarus 66, damals ein schon ziemlich betagtes Modell.

Le nouveau maxitrolleybus Hess 418 effectue une course d'essai sur la nouvelle section qui sera mise en service le 15 décembre 2019 et pose devant le centre commercial "Mall of Switzerland".
Avec une extension de cinq kilomètres depuis Luzern Maihof la ligne de trolleybus 1 Obernau - Kriens - Luzern Bahnhof - Maihof - Ebikon Mall of Switzerland devient une des plus longues lignes de trolleybus de Suisse.
La nouvelle section est bordée d'ensembles résidentiels, commerciaux et industriels qui fourniront la majorité de la clientèle.
Le centre commercial "Mall of Switzerland" inspiré du "Mall of America" de Minneapolis n'a jamais atteint le seuil de rentabilité escompté.

I could have prefixed the title "A fond farewell to ...", but you are all getting bored with that now, aren't you ? But that's just what it is, as I found myself sitting at Councillor Lane traffic lights in Cheadle on the way home, and Geoff Ripley's tow truck appeared from the right, dragging the rather forlorn remains of A530 OBU (latterly BUI 1610) on its final trip. It looks like one, other, or both of the coronavirus episode, and Ralph Bullock's death, has prompted a clear-out of the Demmings Road yard, which was Ralph's second home. No great surprise that it has happened really, but there are/were many treasures buried in there, which would once have been worth saving, but were now largely beyond redemption.
This was the first of Ralph's two Plaxton-bodied Dennis Dorchesters to enter service, and it was only a few weeks old when I caught up with it at Stockport Road yard. In some ways, it was remarkable that it stayed with one owner throughout its 36 years, but given that it actually only spent 15 of them in service, and the other 21 at the back of Demmings Road, that somewhat takes the shine off this achievement !
