There is a story of a young man passing through the town » a girl lied and said he had dishonoured her » He was found and hung »
His parents came and someone tole him that he still lived. They went to the Bishop, who was eating chicken, and he said the young man is as alive as the chickens on my plate. At that moment, the chickens came to life. Since then chickens have been kept in the altar of the cathedral.
The Gates of Time: Monumental twin bronze gates frame the moment of destruction – 9:02 – and mark the formal entrances to the Outdoor Memorial. 9:01, found on the eastern gate, represents the last moments of peace, while its opposite on the western gate, 9:03, represents the first moments of recovery. Both time stamps are inscribed on the interior of the monument, facing each other and the Reflecting Pool.
The outside of each gate bears this inscription:
We come here to remember Those who were killed, those who survived and those changed forever. May all who leave here know the impact of violence. May this memorial offer comfort, strength, peace, hope and serenity.
The Oklahoma City National Memorial is a memorial in the United States that honors the victims, survivors, rescuers, and all who were affected by the Oklahoma City bombing on April 19, 1995. The memorial is located in downtown Oklahoma City on the former site of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, which was destroyed in the 1995 bombing.

"The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, travelled in State to the Palace of Westminster today to open the Session of Parliament.
Her Majesty and His Royal Highness drove in a Carriage Procession, escorted by a Sovereign's Escort of The Household Cavalry, under the command of Major Thomas Archer-Burton, The Blues and Royals, and were received at the Sovereign's Entrance by the Earl Marshal and the Lord Great Chamberlain.
Guards of Honour were mounted at Buckingham Palace by The Queen's Guard found by 1st Battalion Irish Guards, under the command of Major Alexander Turner, and at the Palace of Westminster by the Nijmegen Company Grenadier Guards, under the command of Major Edward Paintin.
A staircase party of The Household Cavalry was on duty at Victoria Tower, House of Lords.
Royal Salutes were fired in Green Park by The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery, under the command of Major Neil Cross, and from the Tower of London Saluting Battery by the Honourable Artillery Company, under the command of Major Simon Barnes.
The Imperial State Crown, the Cap of Maintenance and the Sword of State were conveyed previously to the House of Lords in a Carriage Procession, escorted by a Regalia Escort of The Household Cavalry.
Her Majesty's Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms was on duty in the Prince's Chamber and The Queen's Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard was on duty in the Royal Gallery.
The Queen's Bargemaster and Watermen were on duty.
The Ladies and Gentlemen of the Household and the Pages of Honour to The Queen (Lord Stanley, Jack Soames, Andrew Leeming and Arthur Chatto) were in attendance at the Palace of Westminster.
Her Majesty and His Royal Highness returned to Buckingham Palace and were received by the Lord Chamberlain and the Vice-Chamberlain of the Household."

"The State Opening of Parliament is the most colourful event of the Parliamentary year.
It is also the most important, because it brings together the three elements of the legislature (the House of Commons, the House of Lords and The Queen). The ceremony therefore represents the Crown in Parliament.
As Head of State, it is the duty of The Queen formally to open each new session of Parliament.
This traditionally takes place in October, November or December each year, but sometimes in a different month if a General Election has taken place.
Before Her Majesty travels to Parliament from Buckingham Palace, certain traditional precautions are observed.
A detachment of The Queen's Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard searches the cellars of the Houses of Parliament.
This tradition dates back to the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, when Guy Fawkes was arrested whilst preparing to blow up Parliament. Today, the Yeomen of the Guard continue this historic search, in addition to the security checks by police.
Another tradition is the 'hostage' MP, a Government whip who is held at Buckingham Palace to guarantee the safe return of the monarch.
The custom dates back to centuries when the monarch and Parliament were on less cordial terms.
Once these precautions have been taken, The Queen travels from Buckingham Palace in a State coach to the Palace of Westminster, usually accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh.
The Imperial State Crown travels in its own carriage, ahead of The Queen, escorted by Members of the Royal Household.
On arrival, The Queen puts on the Imperial State Crown and her parliamentary robe ready for the ceremony itself. This takes place in the House of Lords.
Some 250 representatives of the House of Commons are summoned by Black Rod, who acts as The Queen's Messenger.
By tradition, the door of the House of Commons is slammed in Black Rod's face. It is then reopened to enable Black Rod to convey the Sovereign's summons to the Speaker.
This tradition is a reminder of the right of the Commons to exclude everyone but the Sovereign's messengers.
No monarch has set foot in the Commons since Charles I entered the Commons and tried to arrest five Members of Parliament in 1642."

Shot of a tiger that I took at a place called "Out of Africa" near Cottonwood, AZ. I took it through a fence... and the closest I was allowed was still about 4-5 ft away from the fence! Did the best I could to make the fence disappear!

"The body of the Cathedral is nearly square, and the roof slopes are wonderfully regular and symmetrical, the ridge trending northeast and southwest. This direction has apparently been determined by structure joints in the granite. The gable on the northeast end is magnificent in size and simplicity, and at its base there is a big snow-bank protected by the shadow of the building. The front is adorned with many pinnacles and a tall spire of curious workmanship. Here too the joints in the rock are seen to have played an important part in determining their forms and size and general arrangement. The Cathedral is said to be about eleven thousand feet above the sea, but the height of the building itself above the level of the ridge it stands on is about fifteen hundred feet. A mile or so to the westward there is a handsome lake, and the glacier-polished granite about it is shining so brightly it is not easy in some places to trace Front of Cathedral Peak the line between the rock and water, both shining alike." ~ John Muir
From the Glacier Point view, far off into the distance past and to the left of Half Dome lies the other Cathedral of Yosemite National Park. The Cathedral Range, a mountain range in the south-central portion of Yosemite National Park in eastern Mariposa and Tuolumne Counties is an offshoot of the Sierra Nevada.
In this image are the Echo Peaks, part of the same range and next door to Cathedral Peak (behind), both of which were formed by glacial activity: the peaks remained uneroded above the glaciers in the Pleistocene.

Well done David Gray and The Best of The Eagles, a SOLD OUT show at Twin Towns, something many groups in our neck of the woods aspire to do.
Playing Eagles' classics, the group had the audience not just singing along but also dancing in the aisles down both sides of the auditorium. What a great night hearing music from yesteryear that helped form the soundtrack of my life.

"The Old Man of Hoy is a 449-foot (137m) sea stack on Hoy, part of the Orkney archipelago off the north coast of Scotland. Formed from Old Red Sandstone, it is one of the tallest stacks in Britain. The Old Man is popular with climbers, and was first climbed in 1966. Created by the erosion of a cliff through hydraulic action some time after 1750, the stack is no more than a few hundred years old, but may soon collapse into the sea."
