Untouched image(except trimming) of a GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET capture in Thickson Woods.
200 species of wild and free North American birds captured in-flight so far.(Please refer to my profile.)
Luck is involved in capturing this hummingbird-sized Kinglet;(3-4inches) Mainly feeds on insects and spiders, you would NOT find this bird near a feeder.

Lucky #23. Lucky for family birthdays, great athletes, and in mathematics the 9th prime number. And of weird and enchanting significance. But unfortunately the Lottery gods always say "Sorry Ernie, NOT today".

EXPLORED
Outlook Number Two
(Adirondacks, NY)
A September day was trying to hold on to summer while I climbed a loop that took me up to Sawteeth, then down the lesser used Scenic Trail, yellowing in dotted lines on my Adirondack High Peaks map. The path down had been kind of mind numbing, my senses concentrating on caution, given the steep nature of this more primitive trail. In late afternoon I hit a wall, and stopped at Outlook #2, still a mile and a couple hundred vertical from the end of the lake, where I would cross the barrier and begin the long hike out. Next to me is a large erratic that occupies this flat outcrop of gneiss. I feel a certain camaraderie of having also tumbled down the mountain and come to rest, to gaze out on the evidence of the great ice sheet that once wedged its way through the this part of the Adirondack Dome. It hurts the mind to guess at how long it took for a glacier to move down to the vanishing point of the lake. It stretches below me like time itself. As a record of the past, you must reimagine the landscape as barren, scraped raw in the ice’s retreat, most of that hidden now under generations of growth. Harder to imagine is the future, hidden in the deep, sun speckled waters and what would be a slow movement through an uncharted forest, towards a horizon less than blue. So I see it now, looking back at a moment some years ago, when I breathed unburdened with history past or to come, only concerned with the outlook of the rest of the day.
Number in Britain: Fewer than 20 records per year (BTO) most will be Juvenile birds so an Adult male must be fairly rare Sorry about the poor quality but this is heavily cropped

Largest stone sundial in the world
The five Dolomite peaks of Cima Nove, Cima Dieci (Croda Rossa di Sesto), Cima Undici, Cima Dodici and Cima Uno form a unique spectacle of nature - the largest stone sundial in the world, the Sesto sundial. At 2582 m the Cima Nove is the lowest peak of the sundial. At 3094 m altitude the Cima Dodici is among the peaks of over 3,000 metres. It is situated near the hikers’ and climbers’ paradise 3 Peaks.
How does the sundial in the Dolomites work?
Seen from Bagni di Moso / Val Fiscalina the movement of the sun matches the names of the mountains (ranging from the number 9 “Nove” to the number 1 “Uno”). At the time of the winter solstice the midday sun stands exactly above the Cima Dodici and at 1 pm it shines precisely on the summit of the Cima Uno. Another mountain obscures the view of the sun at 9 am and 10 am from Bagni di Moso, but the same principle applies.
The Romans used a different method of dividing time and began counting at sunrise. 12 Noon therefore was the sixth hour, the “sexta hora”. Historians see this as an indication that the town name of Sesto, “Sexten”, derives from the Cima Dodici that once showed the “sexta hora”.
Also of interest
North of the winter solstice point of the “Cima Uno”, at a height of 1412 m there is an area with the name of “Heidegg”. It is assumed that this site is an early settlement and cultic site.

U.S.A. Navy's Blue Angels, based in Pensacola, Florida, got bright
new airplanes for the 2021 air show season: F/A-18 Super Hornets. They're bigger, faster and louder than the F/A-18 Hornets they're replacing. The Blue Angels are scheduled to perform 53 flight demonstrations this year at 28 locations across the United States and Canada, the Navy says. The mission of the Blue Angels is to showcase the precision and professionalism of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps through flight demonstrations and community outreach. They travel with seven jets. Truly amazing to see!

Today the anniversary of the devastating bushfire in my town last year. The fence all that was left here at Number 55 in this street. No new house here yet but the block has a great ocean view. The fence removed since this photo. Quite a few events yesterday to reflect on the effects the fire had on the community. Not a lot of houses rebuilt due to various reasons. Saturday Self Challenge: Numbers
After a week of beach camping and bushwalking I'd given up hope for a photo for this weeks challenge. Then a morning walk in a tiny Tasmanian town and off the tourist route led me to Number 38. At first it was the worn and rusted galvanized iron chimneys on the outside of the house that attracted me, and then I saw the number. Challenge met.
