Field Notes Sunshine Pack - 3 Pack of note pads with Spring celebration pack of Marigold seeds. Plus of course a really nice envelope.
A client invited us to hear Sam Ham. He is a very motivational speaker from Idaho. Holly and I were delighted to be able to go.
Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 2-10-2 Class M-1 6000 presumed at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on an unknown day in March 1912, photograph by Baldwin Locomotive Works, print by H. L. Broadbelt, Chuck Zeiler collection. First a note about the following information: it is excerpted from the book, Steam Locomotive Of The Burlington Route, by Bernard G. Corbin and William F. Kerka. Usually reliable, while cleaning the photo I noted the builder's construction number as 37599, March 1912. This conflicts with the numbers in the book, which show number 6000 c/n as 37592, and number 6003 c/n as 37599. I'm going with the photographic evidence, however, it is possible that Baldwin dressed up 6003 as 6000 for the photo.
Five Class M-1 2-10-2's were built by Baldwin for the CB&Q in 1912 (road numbers 6000-6004), at the time the largest non-articulated locomotives ever built. They were intended for the southern Illinois coal fields, exerted a tractive force of 71,500 pounds with a weight-on-drivers of 301,800 pounds. Originally fitted with Barnum under-fed stokers (which forced coal by screw conveyors through four horizontal troughs in the bottom of the firebox), they were eventually refitted with conventional over-feed types. Although the rigid wheelbase was 20 feet 9 inches, they could negotiate a 21 degree curve, as considerable lateral motion was allowed in the first and fifth driving axles. To provide for this, the knuckle pins were fitted into spherical bushings of cast-hardened steel in the side-rod stubs on the second and fourth pair of drivers. An unusual feature of the M-1 locomotives was the use of additional counterweights on the main driving axle. This consisted of two cast-steel bobs placed between the frames and keyed to the axle. The mass of the reciprocating and revolving parts, and the small size (63 inch) of the driving wheels, would have made it impossible to balance the engine properly without these additional counterweights. This particular locomotive (and 6003) was retired in December 1933.

Some notes:
Lense: Standard 18-55- kit lense with 13 mm spacer ring. This spacer ring, from a set of three (13, 21,31, chinese product), is active and supports aperture control and autofocus (Amazon, approx. 100 Euro / set). In this application, this is not really necessary, because focussing is done best manually and aperture is fully opened most of the time.

After graduating I've been number each of my note/sketch books. I'm on the ninth book and because it's my favorite number I made it special.

After 4 years of joint R&D efforts with SEAS, Audio Note introduces a hemp-coned woofer to replace its long-standing paper woofer, beginning with the HE series of speakers. Greater stiffness yields superior resolution of low--level detail.
I discovered these mock bank notes in a random shop and loved them. They are quite detailed (with more pictures on the back) and there is one for every Tudor monarch, the six wives and Prince Arthur. I love how they say very blatantly – ‘this note is not legal tender’. As if someone needed to be alerted to that...
This is the surviving test road loop near Ottawa, Il. There were six loops at the test site when constructed in 1956-58. The loops were approximately one mile in distance. One leg concrete the other asphalt. This photo is looking West from the East end of the loop. I-80 is to the far right. The other five test loops were situated where I-80 runs today. This particular loop was used for testing the effects of weather on the pavement.
(NOTE: I took this shot with my digital camera mounted to the top of a 12 foot pole. I set the timer and positioned the camera with about 4 seconds to go. I also shot some video using this technique but, my aim was off and not as good as the stills.)

In a musical scale, maybe you could hear a note that will choke your head. Of course, the note isn't right. Isn't proportional, isn't symmetric, isn't harmonical. It's Blue! Blue note.
The tip of my rocket, (rather slipshot hot glueing visible but I'm still a huge fan). Note the absence of any super glued fingers as well (I have a checkered past).

Blank note paper is stored here. I got these blank note papers from Marukai as well. They are much thicker than Filofax paper and are perforated. My sections are soon followed by all my plastic inserts like this zip pouch (Day-Timers because I couldn't stand the one from Filofax with its chunky zip pull). I store color coding dots, and more stickers here, as well as a photo of my son when he was much younger.

it is said when it rains, the water runs over the arch down under the squatting sculptures & it appears as if they're peeing. And this is on an entrance to a church.
Every day, at least once per day, Emily "writes" me love notes. They consist of multiple squiggles across the page and she will "read" them to me.
There's a lot of, "You're the best Mom in the whole world" and "I love you as much as the world" and, yeah. It's pretty adorable.
I got home from work last night and she came over with a note for me. I asked her if I could take a video of her reading it and she graciously obliged.
(I will be so very sad the day she no longer has a lisp.)
