This is the first time I've caught this particular unit on camera but not the first time I've ever seen it...
Thanks to some rotten luck, I got bowled by a 170 at Derby a few months back meaning I missed the Network Rail Sprinter however I finally caught up with her today and yielded a rather average photo. I originally intended to see a light loco movement from Derby RTC however I turned up for a train that wasn't running so I was quite pleased to find another Network Rail train on RTT, this time pathed as a Sprinter!
Part of me was hoping for their Class 153 to show up since that's ex EMR and is in pretty much as withdrawn condition however, I'll still take the 950!
The Stockport - Northampton leg of 1Q25 06.35 Derby RTC - Derby RTC Network Rail New Measurement Train runs through platform 1 at Birmingham New Street. Power Car 43062 John Armitt leading with 43014 The Railway Observer on the rear.
In the distance London Midland Milkfloat 323217 stands in platform 2 on 2A19 10.49 Wolverhampton - Walsall.

Network South East Cab Rides Volume 1: Reading to Paddington
The journey starts from Reading and follows Brunel's famous Great Western route into the capital, through Sonning Cutting, Twyford and Maidenhead. We change units at Slough to depart from the bay platform for Paddington. Onwards through Southall through West Ealing Junction etc. and to our final destination of the magnificent Paddington Station in the days before the Heathrow electrification.
Network South East Cab Rides Volume 2: Aylesbury to Marylebone
This second programme also takes the approach to the capital as its thread. This time we head for town on the Metropolitan/Great Central Joint line via Stoke Mandeville, Wendover and Great Missenden. The appearance of a centre siding for the reversal of Metropolitan line EMUs and the appearance of the conductor rails confirms we are now running on London Underground metals, with the Underground's own signalling. Onwards through Chalfont & Latimer, Chorley Wood and Rickmansworth, through Moor Park, Northwood Hills and North Harrow we proceed towards the capital, entering Marylebone after a brief halt outside St John's Wood Tunnel.
Network South East Cab Rides Volume 3: East Croydon to Farringdon, return to West Croydon
Filmed in 1991 this journey is from East Croydon to Farringdon station in Central London, and returning to West Croydon. The first inward leg is seen from a class 319 dual - voltage EMU operating the Thameslink service between Brighton and Bedford, introduced in 1988. We run straight up the former LB & SC mainline, and are booked non-stop from East Croydon to London Bridge - a distance of exactly ten miles. On the return journey we change at London Bridge into an all stations service for West Croydon via Peckham Rye, Tulse Hill and Streatham Common.
Network South East Cab Rides Volume 4: Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness
After glimpses of the Docklands Light Railway our train heads through Limehouse and Gas Factory Junction towards Bow Junction. At Forest gate Junction we head for Barking and the former Tilbury and Southend mainline, whose stations as far as Upminster have for many years been served solely by London Underground. Beyond Upminutester we call at West Horndon, Laindon, Basildon, Pitsea, Benfleet, Leigh on Sea, Chalkwell, Westcliff. Southend Central, Southend East, and Thorpe Bay before terminating at Shoeburyness, eastern terminus of this busy commuter railway.
Network South East Cab Rides Volume 5: Southend to Fenchurch Street
Volume five features the return journey to London and forms a continuation from Volume 4. This time however the return journey is completed via Tilbury. From the cab we witness junctions and stations along the route. Private sidings and disused facilities are also mentioned. Fenchurch Street is reached in good time.
Network South East Cab Rides Volume 6: Shenfield to Liverpool Street
After leaving Shenfield we journey along the old Great Eastern mainline to Liverpool Street. The stations en route include Brentwood, Harold Wood, Gidea Park, Romford, Chadwell Heath, Goodmayes, Seven Kings, (past Ilford depot), Manor Park and through Forest Gate Junction. After numerous other locations we arrive at the very much altered and redeveloped Liverpool Street terminus. All change please!
Network nodes are rendered using newly introduced expression-based data-defined fill color as well as the color_ramp() function. This allows for smooth color gradient of the nodes based on distance over Points of Interest.
The map was exported via QGIS' print composer using new features found in the upcoming v2.0: label rotation, html rendering in labels, grid overlay blend, and annotation font color.
It's not every day you get something running non-stop through Nottingham!!
It seems almost everything stops here, even freight trains for crew changes!!
43013 trundles through Platform 6 no doubt off to be stabled on home turf at Derby for the night.

This cable is not properly made - note the gap between the shield and connector block. It will prove unreliable over time.

Go North East's Saltmeadows-based "QuayLink" branded Optare Versa V1110/Optare 8316 (NK10 GOJ), which also sports the name "Thomas Berwick", is pictured here at Gateshead Transport Interchange, Gateshead, whilst working "QuayLink" service Q1 to Central Station. 28/12/14
Following funding withdrawals from Newcastle City Council and Gateshead Council, the future of the "QuayLink" services (which Go North East operates under contract to Nexus) was unknown. It has recently been announced that Go North East has stepped in to save the "QuayLink", and, from 26th July 2015, will operate the services commercially. It is believed that the services will be altered to fit in with the company's existing network of services, meaning that the frequency of the current QuayLink services is likely to decrease.
A VOSA registration confirms that service 'Q3' will also operate from this date, and it is believed that this service will replace "Great Park & Ride" service X40. Although Go North East gained the Great Park X40 contract as articulated vehicles could be allocated, the Scania L94UA/Wright Solar Fusion vehicles have become rather unreliable in their old age, leading to breakdowns and normal rigid vehicles being allocated on an almost daily basis. It is therefore thought that service Q2 will operate with a 20-minute frequency, and it will interwork with the new Q3 service to provide newer, more reliable vehicles, on service X40.
The "QuayLink" services are currently allocated Optare Versa vehicles. Go North East currently has a sizeable fleet of 59 Optare Versa vehicles, varying in length. Three examples are pictured here: 8316 is one of nine Optare Versa V1110 variants, featuring Next Stop Announcements. The unidentified "Orbit" branded example is also a Optare Versa V1110 variant, featuring the more modern style of bodywork, and the unidentified "Citylink" branded example is a Optare Versa V1170 variant, featuring Next Stop Announcements and free Wi-Fi.

The network closet is only about 30cm wider and twice as long as what you see in this photo. It has its own aircon which runs constantly, keeping the room at about 19C. The second UPS in the photo actually feeds the circuit to the 4 outlets at my desk. To the right is the cabinet where I store all of my camera equipment.

The event, Cork Women Leaning In took place in the River Lee Hotel. The women that shared their experiences included Kay Foley, Eli Lilly, Gillian Keating, Cork Chamber President and Honor Moore, Deloitte.

Slowing through Wakefield Kirkgate before entering the goods loop working 1Q05 06:05 Derby RTC - Neville Hill T&RSMD test train. Allegedly these class 31s do not have long left, due to a lack of spare parts.
Two Vanhool coaches in the Network Buses depot at Innistoige. The coach to the front is an Alizee design from the early 1990's whilst the coach behind is the latest T9.
The older coach joined the Network Buses fleet several years ago in white but only entered fleet livery after a couple of years in the fleet. Its used mainly on private hires and occasionally covers on stage service duties where a coach is needed.
The T9 is one of two in the fleet and operates the only inter-urban service provided by Network Buses.
Network Warrington Volvo B7TL/Wright Gemini 191 has appeared in this overall ad scheme for Liverpool Hope University. On the early evening of 30 May it was on the o2 contract.

There are 4 main subnets in my home network:
Main - Green cables connect all main subnet components. This includes a 24 port 1GbE switch and a 12 port 10GbE switch connected via a 10GbE SFP+ cable. This is the main network of my home connecting all computers, printers, wifi APs, Media Players, and a Buffalo Terastation NAS which acts as the media server.
Guest - Yellow cables connect guest connections to half of a 24 port 1GbE switch. Yellow cable also connects the guest VLAN to the main network access points. This subnet is isolated from the rest of the network.
Surveillance - Blue cables connect all video surveillance equipment to a 16 port 1GbE POE switch. This includes wiring for 10 security cameras and a Synology RS814+ NAS containing 4 WD 3TB SE WD3000F9YZ HDD. Currently have 8 HIK Vision security cameras running, 5 DS-2CD2032-I 4mm bullet cameras and 3 DS-2CD2132F-I 2.8mm dome cameras.
MODnet - Orange cables connect 4 set top boxes to the WAN through a 5 port 1GbE Switch for China Telecom Movie on Demand Internet TV service.
Interweb - Red Cables are outside of my network, which includes connection to the modem and the community network.
Concerning the photo, its another version using the 35mm Cron. Took a different approach with lighting this time using two flood lights. The shot is an overlay of several HDR tonemap images over an exposure fusion from a 5 shot 1EV step bracket. Post processing is very different from previous approaches, though not sure if I like it better or not...
Network Rail really could do with spending a few quid tidying up the area around the Tay Bridge South signalbox. The sign wouldn't cost much to repair and some strategic hedge trimming along the boundaries would make the historic site look a bit more respectable!! This is the less than presentable sign pictured on Thursday 5/7/2024.
Without it, flickr does not exist. The network cable is connecting us all to our loved community. Greetz to the inventor of them.

I took this photo of GMA Network Center during my first studio tour there.
One of the famous landmarks in the "City of Stars" is the GMA Network Center, the main headquarters of the Kapuso network.
The structure was started to build in 1996 as part of upgrading the network's old facilities and finished in 2000 as the station was celebrating its 50th year in the broadcast industry. Notable events happened on that building such as the rebranding of the then "Rainbow Satellite Network" to today's "Kapuso Network" (Kapuso Mo, Anumang Kulay ng Buhay) at the top of GMA Network Center. Aside from that, a monument was installed on the facade of the structure and it was sculpted by Eduardo Castrillo in the same year (2000) depicting the network's leadership in television and radio broadcast industry..
