Strother Hills, Site of Special Scientific Interest - ancient oak woodland. Also noted for the damp valley floor harboring a good example of Alder Tussock Sedge Woodland. Quite a bit of blueberry growing around the oak trees as well, which I don't see around here.

Our walk leads from the viewpoint at the Graswandkreuz via the Gletscherblick Panorama walking path back to the Alpincenter. It is one of the highest mountain experiences of all Austria: Hiking on the Kitzsteinhorn. This mountain peak is part of the Hohe Tauern and with an altitude of 3.203 metres one of Austria´s few glaciers. Also in summer you will find ice and snow here: at the Ice Arena with a snow beach, slippery sides and a play piste bully. Just right next to it green grassland in a high alpine landscape, fascinating rock formations and spectacular views on the National Park Hohe Tauern. We were high up in the Alps at the mountain range of the Kitzsteinhorn at elevation of 2450 meter. There is nothing anywhere that quite compares to the elegant forms of the peaks of the Kitzsteinhorn! At first glance, the jagged silhouettes of these mountains might suggest that they are more the realm of mountaineers than of hikers. But amidst the jaw-dropping splendor of peaks winds a network of trails that caters to the full range of hiking abilities. Stroll along paths that traverse ridgetops high above tree-line where 360-degree panoramas of a sea of peaks await.
