Because I haven't picked my camera up in more than a fortnight, and Holland is 19 days away. My Dad bought me this book as a present last weekend. I've flicked through it, but will sit down one day this week on my lunch break and study! You know it's getting close when you start writing lists of things you need to do / buy to take with you.

Tonight I am going to Claire and Kim's Birthday cum Leaving Party which I am very much looking forward to! Even though I don't see them both very often, I will mess them when they're gone. Last weekend I went to see Bridesmaids which was absolutely hilarious, my face was hurting it was so funny. Next weekend I am going to Northampton and then I am definitely staying at home the following weekend with the familia. My favourite lecturers from Unis is leaving this summer and so I'll be going to collect my essay from her in the days before Holland.

I am still (just) working, £700 in "The MacBook Fund" - I have put the plans on hold until they release an update and there are rumours (and part numbers) that there is going to be a new batch soon. I don't want to buy an outdated model and have a new one come out two weeks later.

2 Months to Year 2. Wow.

So hideous I had to buy two of them to ensure I was suitably disgusted!! ;-p

What possessed Hot Wheels to design this livery and colour scheme as a debut Mainline colour for its hotly anticipated new VW Golf MK7 I have no idea! Technically this pink version is the second recolour though the graphic design remains exactly the same as the previous both of which surprised collectors with its garishness. The casting itself has come under criticism for not being realistic enough but personally I think its a typical Hot Wheels design which will no doubt look 100 times better when it finally gets a plain colour and tampo work which I believe it got in the special edition Euro series which sadly never came to the U.K.

Bought from ASDA back in November 2016 as at the time they were probably the best retailer to find this new batch. Mint and boxed.

With most U.K. Toys R Us stores now closed or in their last dying breath a chapter in toy retailers has closed. Sadly they weren't really good enough to help me part with lots of my money sticking to their generic Fastlane crap and endless Hot Wheels sets. The only time I really bought anything in the last few years were their foray into Majorette and just occasionally they could be relied on for finding new batches of Hot Wheels before anyone else! This black VW Beetle Kafer Racer was one such model I eagerly snatched from the pegs on a visit back in March 2017 and instantly loved this menacing black recolour even if the overall casting is one ugly thing! RIP TRU. Mint and boxed.

I was so happy to find that a new batch of Juniper Hairstreaks were flying this summer. I am not sure but I think this is the same one I saw two days ago. In the bright sunlight I found it difficult to identify the butterfly till I got up close. If you are looking for new butterflies make sure you closely check out any you see.

A new batch of foster kittens arrived at the F. house from the pound tonight.

new batch of berets fresh from the oven :)

Quite edgy graphics for what is actually quite a plain casting of the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution by Hot Wheels. The newer batches are still quite few and far between here in the U.K. at the moment with this being the only example i've seen so far along with the achingly good Ford Escort.

Mint and boxed.

This is the first of a new batch of publicity pictures I recently bought.

This one is probably from the launch of the Ford Orion.

I also have a front picture in colour:

I bought a new brick from new batches - looks like pretty good quality - cross fingers!

We've had a bit of a rebranding exercise at Fair Shares, and have just gotten a whole new batch of stationary and leaflets.

Lawrence was very annoyed that I was the first person to write a letter on the new letterhead.

Here is something I finally finished recently. I've been cutting, shaping and running out of time whenever I go to the clubhouse. Then the next time there, I do the same thing with a new batch. I actually went back and finished this one.

I love the swirled patterns and vivid colors in this one. It's from yet another piece of trim I found in the rockyard. I'm not sure what it is -- possible Stony Creek. I hope I can stumble upon a few more pieces.

A new batch of Modulex arrived a few days ago. Mostly white bricks. Alot were dirty and I'm cleaning them at the moment.

Kodak Portra 400 in Arista C-41 kit (1 liter), Canon 1N RS.

This is the 11th roll processed in this kit (standard capacity of 8 rolls) - I think it may be time to mix up a new batch, these frames look OK, but any frames that had areas of darkness were looking pretty underdeveloped.

I'm also getting that annoying green line that Epson scanners are infamous for on a lot of them... I know the "fix" is to clean the calibration area, but that is becoming less reliable.

With the UK having such a poor year Matchbox wise in terms of getting in new batches I was beginning to worry many retailers would drop the brand completely for 2025. Just in the nick of time it appears our importers/distributors have finally cleared through old stock and new for 2025 releases are flooding through! That also includes some new five vehicle sets though they largely aren't something to get excited about due to a very high number of recycled recolours and old school generics which most of us had hoped we'd seen the last of!

No complaints regarding their Italian Roads set though with a 100% new content and every casting worthy of inclusion.

The days of Alfa Romeo being super strict regarding the colours used on their diecasts seem to be over meaning the Matchbox 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA can be enjoyed with some much brighter and vivid hues such as this cheery zesty orange. Still one very handsome casting after all these years which even dull grey bumpers can't spoil.

Its a sad fact that the better the Matchbox line up becomes the more batches are missed here in the UK, ironic really considering that since January 2023 there are more stockists selling the brand than at any time since 2016. The trouble is when the exclusivity deal ended with Tesco various distributors massively over ordered expecting an avalanche in sales but all thats happened is it has slowed down sales hugely as most retailers continue to stock 12 month old batches!

Things are better on the Continent, particularly countries who have Tedi discount stores. Not only are they cheaper than the competition but also the huge sales it generates ensures a very regular supply of new batches.

A friend recently went to Spain and the only thing I requested was some Matchbox from Tedi and thankfully they were able to find newer stuff which may never make it here.

The gorgeous new Morgan Plus Four was one such item and for me its even better than what I was expecting for a basic mainline release. The ever living Morgan is rarely modelled in this scale and price point these days and Matchbox have ensured theirs is one of the very best, again taking into account its low price point.

Everything has been captured brilliantly with intense front and rear detailing plus a classy white gold finish.

Got a new batch of babies Thursday night. 4 Gray squirrels that look to be about 5 1/2 weeks old. They appear to be doing pretty well. One had a nosebleed initially and I was concerned but he seems to be ok and has started eating some. Probably caused from falling out of a nest and hitting the ground. They are very sweet!! Their mamma was close by but was dead :(. Some people at a nearby rec center found them and were playing with them out in the wind. If anyone ever finds babies like this - the first step should be to warm them up - put in a box with an old towel, blanket or rag. If a heating pad is handy, set the box on top of the heating pad (set on medium low) making sure from time to time that it isn't getting too hot in the box.

Ever since ASDA took over the exclusive rights to sell new Matchbox here in the U.K. they have really struggled to bring out new batches in a timely manner much to the frustration of collectors and when they do as the recent introduction of Batch G proves, they usually end up missing some completely! It took a few months for the first batch of 2017 to appear but at least when it did it hit most of their stores very quickly and in great numbers which meant I was able to get plenty of these recoloured 1964 Austin Mini Cooper models. Contrary to popular belief this ISN'T Mr Beans car as that would require a separate licensing deal from the respective TV production company, rather its colour scheme is indicative of colours used by BMC and latterly British Leyland. Always a favourite casting of mine and a much deserved return to the mainline the only disappointment really was its lack of rear tampo detailing and use of dull grey plastic for the bumpers and grille. One of many bought from ASDA back in January 2017. Mint and boxed.

Happy New Year everyone and in particular anyone in the UK is enduring the miserable and stormy weather we are experiencing. I managed to escape most of it whilst in Spain but last nights flight home was one of the most turbulent effected one I've ever experienced whilst landing in Manchester! :-0

I hope 2018 is as bountiful for diecasts as 2017 eventually proved to be but as ever I still have a huge backlog from 2016 to get through so here is yet another purchase from back then. After having my fill of the original debut white version of the superb Hot Wheels 1973 BMW 3.0 CSL Race Car it was finally time for a new recolour and thankfully it looked just as hot as the first! Keeping the licensed Castrol logos was an inspired choice and yet again helped massively in giving this classic race track icon that little bit more credibility not that it needed much thanks to its surprisingly realistic and accurate body complete with plastic front and rear lenses and tasteful wheels. Bought from Wilkinsons back in September 2016 and fingers crossed this retailer will once again stock new batches of HW this year after failing to do so for the entirety of 2017! Mint and boxed.

An F-4 from the 82nd Aerial Targets Squadron at Tyndall AFB. The 82nd operates the Department of Defense's only full-scale aerial target program, maintaining an inventory of 50 modified QF-4 Phantom II aircraft for this purpose.

This F-4 Stopped at the ANG 122nd Fighter Wing which operates at Fort Wayne International Airport (Baer Field) FWA.

From Fencecheck.com: www.fencecheck.com The_Final_Mission

While on test duties, QF-4 drones are rarely seen away from their Tyndall and Holloman bases. But the people who fly and maintain the Phantoms are extremely proud of their aircraft, the last operational US tactical fighter from the Vietnam era.

In 2004, 82 ATRS personnel sought to add the QF-4 to the USAF’s Heritage Flight program, to fill a gap in historical coverage between World War Two and Korean War warbirds and modern fighters. Six QF-4Es were repainted in camouflage schemes from the F-4’s operational service, four at Tyndall and two at Holloman. Following USAF approval, they took part in Heritage Flight formations at a few airshows on each coast in 2005. In 2006, the QF-4s received Heritage Flight funding from Air Combat Command – the 2005 flights had been funded from the 53 WEG operating budget! – allowing the QF-4s to appear at approximately 20 shows. As well, a simple QF-4 solo display routine was introduced.

Except for their camouflage, the Heritage Flight QF-4Es are standard “primary flier” drones and are used for normal 82 ATRS operations when not at airshows. As the first six aircraft began to run out of flight hours in 2007, a new batch was painted. These aircraft all wear the same Southeast Asia scheme to simplify maintenance.

While the Heritage Flight QF-4s salute those who served in the 1960s and ‘70s, they are also a reminder why full-scale targets are important. Early in its USAF career, the F-4 was hobbled in air-to-air combat when its AIM-4 Falcon and AIM-7 Sparrow missiles failed to work properly in real engagements over North Vietnam. Today, the QF-4’s final duty is to ensure such failures never happen again.

One of the new batch of E400H for the Midlands, this is 5411 & is branded for route 1 as are the other Enviros here.

Amongst this order are a batch of Volvo B5L hybrids, not all of these are route branded & I spotted one on the 59 in Wolverhampton.

April 2013.

It appears Poundland have finally caught up with the last available batch through "official" channels here in the U.K. of Matchbox models. No new batches have appeared in Morrisons since January which doesn't bode well but at least it could possibly mean that any new releases will eventually be found in this Pound retailer in big quantities and on pegs where you can easily get to them! I naturally couldn't help getting another one of these latest black and tan Pierce Dash Fire Engine models which although now contain more plastic than previous versions does look very handsome in this livery. A good licensed casting and nice detailing. God help my bank balance when the black Jaguar F-Type appears on the pegs at Poundland! ;-) Mint and boxed.
