A new batch of E6X class has fitted with face-to-face seats on the upper deck , two wheel chair areas and electronic parking break .

Got a new batch of babies Thursday night. 4 Gray squirrels that look to be about 5 1/2 weeks old. They appear to be doing pretty well. One had a nosebleed initially and I was concerned but he seems to be ok and has started eating some. Probably caused from falling out of a nest and hitting the ground. They are very sweet!! Their mamma was close by but was dead :(. Some people at a nearby rec center found them and were playing with them out in the wind. If anyone ever finds babies like this - the first step should be to warm them up - put in a box with an old towel, blanket or rag. If a heating pad is handy, set the box on top of the heating pad (set on medium low) making sure from time to time that it isn't getting too hot in the box.

Vertical tasting of two different batches of Bestefar from HaandBryggeriet in Drammen, Norway.

Bestefar is one of the new beers introduced by HaandBryggeriet in 2010, it's a dark and rich traditional ale of 9% abv and 22 IBU. The first batch was brewed 22 June 2010, bottled on 3 August 2010 and made its debut at Borefts 2010, the bottle on the right is from that batch. The second batch was brewed in September 2010 and bottled 21 October 2010, just in time for the Christmas beer release. The bottle on the left is from that batch. A vertical tasting of the two batches was in order!

The two beers poured very differently, both were black in color but only the newest had any head to speak of - a big, bubbly beige head. The oldest batch had just a thin head. The aroma also differed a lot, the older seemed to have a deeper more spicy aroma while the new batch leaned more towards refreshing citrus. Both beers had a medium to full bodied mouthfeel, but the older was more oily and the newer more creamy. The flavor of both started out with a good malt body, but the older had a richer taste profile, with clear licorice and chocolate notes, while the newer was fresher with a good roasted note and juniper. Surprisingly the newer batch had the longest aftertaste.

Both are very good beers but to me the oldest was more complex, though with a shorter aftertaste than the new one.

I dont know whether they have an impending toy sale or its because they've realised they are probably the best U.K. retailer to quickly find new batches but ASDA have increased their prices for Mainline Hot Wheels from 1.25 to 1.87 almost overnight! They now almost mirror that of the Matchbox they sell and have made this hobby that bit more expensive especially considering no other retailer appears to have followed suit yet. They most certainly aint one Dollar toys here now but sadly I still slavishly buy from them knowing I'm more likely to find new stuff there before anyone else.

Case P quickly appeared at ASDA and was quite a well stocked batch with many new recolours of some older favourites such as this 2015 Dodge Charger SRT. Looking remarkably well honed and chiselled in dark metallic purple with contrasting black and yellow stripes. Mint and boxed.

Ever since ASDA took over the exclusive rights to sell new Matchbox here in the U.K. they have really struggled to bring out new batches in a timely manner much to the frustration of collectors and when they do as the recent introduction of Batch G proves, they usually end up missing some completely! It took a few months for the first batch of 2017 to appear but at least when it did it hit most of their stores very quickly and in great numbers which meant I was able to get plenty of these recoloured 1964 Austin Mini Cooper models. Contrary to popular belief this ISN'T Mr Beans car as that would require a separate licensing deal from the respective TV production company, rather its colour scheme is indicative of colours used by BMC and latterly British Leyland. Always a favourite casting of mine and a much deserved return to the mainline the only disappointment really was its lack of rear tampo detailing and use of dull grey plastic for the bumpers and grille. One of many bought from ASDA back in January 2017. Mint and boxed.

2017 is still over a month away and yet we are now on the second or third Hot Wheels batch of 2017 which makes it a bit confusing at the moment as to whats new and needs searching out for! When I first heard on the Lamley Group website that some more new batches had hit the U.K. I quickly headed out on my usual diecast hunt in the hope of finding some. ASDA was the first port of call and although there were remnants of this brand new batch frustratingly most of the good stuff had already gone! One of those castings I was desperate to find was this new Tesla Model X which must be one of their best new castings so far for 2017. A beautiful pearlescent white finish highlights just how crisp and well proportioned this little diecast is and is so well detailed it really could pass for a Matchbox! An important vehicle as the Tesla Model X well well be the type of vehicle we will all be driving in the very near future. Amazingly I actually managed to pick this up in Toys R Us! Mint and boxed.

One of the new batch of E400H for the Midlands, this is 5411 & is branded for route 1 as are the other Enviros here.

Amongst this order are a batch of Volvo B5L hybrids, not all of these are route branded & I spotted one on the 59 in Wolverhampton.

April 2013.

It appears Poundland have finally caught up with the last available batch through "official" channels here in the U.K. of Matchbox models. No new batches have appeared in Morrisons since January which doesn't bode well but at least it could possibly mean that any new releases will eventually be found in this Pound retailer in big quantities and on pegs where you can easily get to them! I naturally couldn't help getting another one of these latest black and tan Pierce Dash Fire Engine models which although now contain more plastic than previous versions does look very handsome in this livery. A good licensed casting and nice detailing. God help my bank balance when the black Jaguar F-Type appears on the pegs at Poundland! ;-) Mint and boxed.

A new batch of warming huts, designed to keep ice skaters warm on the cold Assiniboine River trail, have been unveiled at The Forks in downtown Winnipeg.

Officials with The Forks showed off the winners of the 2013 Warming Huts competition, in which architects and artists design shelters for winter enthusiasts skating, walking or skiing on the frozen river.

The contest attracted almost 100 submissions from around the world this year. A jury chose three winning designs:

Hygge House, a joint effort between three Winnipeg design firms.

The Smokehouse by aamodt/plumb architects in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Woolhaus by Myungkweon Park, a landscape architect in New York.

Hygge House is a "reproduction of one of the most cherished symbols of Canadiana — the wilderness cottage," according to the designers.

The cabin-like hut will be a bright yellow colour to help brighten up the winter landscape, they said.

By contrast, The Smokehouse will have a black charred-wood-like exterior. Felt-lined interior walls and a fire pit will encourage a "quiet warm space."

Woolhaus will also use felt to create "an interior environment that is isolated from the intense cold, brightness and noise of the frozen Assiniboine River," according to the designer.

Construction of the warming huts started in early January and, weather permitting, go onto the Assiniboine River trail shortly. They will join eight huts that were built in previous years.

Besides the three competition hut designs, organizers have invited architects from Atelier Big City — a collective of three architects in Montreal — to design a warming hut.

As well, a hut designed by 100 University of Manitoba architecture students will appear on the river. Weave Wave will knit 100 pieces of material together into a "dynamic multi-textured hut."

Kowloon Motor Bus Company bought a new batch of MAN 24.310 at 2000 . They are always on route number 58x , 59x , 60x , 66x and 67x .

Santa Fe to Williams, 12 November 2017

We had a great time in Santa Fe, but I had to get back to work, so on Sunday, 12 November, it was time to start our trip home.

We were stopping off at the Grand Canyon on the way back. I had visited the Grand Canyon in 1982 and 1983, so it had been a while for me, and Anne had never been there.

On 12 November, we took Railrunner back Albuquerque and then Amtrak's Southwest Chief to Williams Jct., Arizona, the station nearest the Grand Canyon. ATSF used to serve Williams on its main line, but a line relocation around 1960 reduced grades and curves and moved the main line a little ways north of Williams. ATSF still had a line through Williams as their line to Phoenix continued to use the old main line to Ash Fork, the former junction with the Phoenix line. Williams was the junction of ATSF's Grand Canyon branch.

Our trip started on the 1020 am departure from Santa Fe, train 703, led by MP36 106. The trip to Albuquerque took an hour and a half, which would have left us with over 4 hours in Albuquerque until the Chief was due. We were planning to have lunch, but then what?

I half jokingly suggested to Anne that we ride the train all the way to the end of the line at Belen and then return. That would take another 1.5 hours and still leave us plenty of time to get lunch before the Chief was due. She had settled into her seat on Railrunner and decided that if she had to kill some time, riding the train was as good of a way to do it as sitting at the combined Greyhound and Amtrak station in Albuquerque. The extra charge to go all the way to the end of the line and back was $1 each, so it did not break the bank.

We got to see the country that we passed through in the dark on our way to Albuquerque. Beautiful, if desolate north of Albuquerque, greener south of there as the train follows the Rio Grande to Belen. We saw some bison at one point.

At Belen, a cut of BNSF units was crossing over on the main line next to the the Railrunner station as our train waited 15 minutes to return north.

Back in Albuquerque, we stashed our bags and went back to the same New York style pizza place where we ate a few days earlier. Good pizza and good beer.

An Amtrak P42 and Horizon coach were parked at the station. Not sure why they were there.

The Chief arrived early, shortly after we'd moved out to the platform to wait for it. We climbed on after a big crowd got off. It seemed to me that about half of the coach passengers get off in Albuquerque and a new batch gets on. The train only had 2 coaches and they were full. Amtrak could probably run another coach on this train in the off season ad still fill it.

The dining car dinner did not disappoint, even if we had to take a relatively early seating as that was what was left when we boarded. We were not yet famished, having eaten a fair bit of pizza for lunch.

The sunset was gorgeous, then the night was dark. We were on time into Williams Jct., where a van operated by the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel was waiting to pick us up.

New batches of Hot Wheels seemed to hit our usual U.K. stockists on a much more regular and reliable basis than they have done so far in 2017, i'm just hoping quite a few come all at once in the run up to the festive period! Back in June 2016 it was time for another and one which contained quite a few tasty little gems such as this 1972 Ford Gran Torino Sport in its very eye catching orange with shock horror, an acceptable flame livery! A typical but loveable HW with its oversized rear wheels but well cast body with an ornate front panel and smooth rear. Bought from ASDA back in June 2016. Mint and boxed.

Terra is a small coffee shop in Macau, (a more European style compare to US, well, should say most the coffee shop in Macau is quite small in size). The shop is up on a hill but not so far from the downtown area. Normally not so crowded, but they do have a pretty good business that people come every now and than.

As the shop is pretty small, they have only couple small table, or customers can sit on the bar facing the barista or the street. I choose to sit and talk with my barista, I do that whenever I have a chance to.

It was a pleasant experience sit close to the barista, and just like having chat to a friend and enjoy the hospitality.

I visited the shop when the owner is still preparing, warming up the espresso machine, and dial in the grinder. He did that every day, weighing the beans and adjust the grinder, carefully achieving the perfect time brewed espresso. I waited about 10min and got a great cup.

On thing the barista did different than what shop in US didn't, he will taste the coffee first (of course with a separate cup.) and make sure the coffee is good to the standard before serve to the customer. He's really seriously checking it, he re-do one of my cup because the batch of bean was not to his standard, and re-do with a new batch of bean.

So there is, one of the best coffee shop experience I ever have, which it does not have a fancy space, but just a small coffee shop up on a hill.

A bottle of Fyr & Flamme from HaandBryggeriet in Drammen, Norway, at Håndverkerstuene in Oslo.

Fyr & Flamme is a 6,5% abv india pale ale, brewed after the same recipe as De Molen Vuur & Vlamme, and it won the prize for best interpretation at De Molens Borefts 2010 beer festival. This bottle was from the brand new batch #399, brewed September 2nd 2011, so it was just two months old.

The beer poured a hazy amber color with a beige head. It sported a lovely resinous hop aroma, with fresh piny hop notes. The mouthfeel was medium heavy with a creamy, velvety soft carbonation. The flavor started out with hints of malt, but felt rather dry. Then the aroma hops kicked in, really fresh and juicy, with a mild citrus note and plenty of pine flavors. It had a long bitter aftertaste, with lingering citrus and pine notes. Delicious.

Fyr & Flamme, batch 399, is a great IPA and probably best right now - drink it fresh!

This is from the new batch of slides me and the Wife ordered of Ebay. When I first looked at this slide I though to myself......."Hey, that Kinda looks like Uncle Herbert." When my wife saw it later that night she said the exact same thing. Could this possibly be a real life Uncle Herbert siding? Or are my pain meds still getting to me?

At this point my Uncle Herbert fever is out of control I'm thinkin about wondering taking pictures of anyone I think looks like Uncle Herbert.

OK so we've got a new batch of kittens and we think they're pretty cute!

The appeal of the ever growing Matchbox Moving Parts line is so obvious that its lack of availability here in the UK is extremely frustrating, especially as the exclusivity deal for MBX ended at the start of this year. A very simple concept of making what are in effect basic mainline castings and adding working features and one which has been received extremely well where available.

New batches appear nearly on a monthly basis, the latest to date featuring a recolour of their 1996 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV. Looking good in a deep glossy metallic blue finish with appropriate levels of front and rear detailing though its odd it has a separate rear spoiler made of plastic when Mattel has spent the last decade retooling castings to have an integrated one made of metal!

Mint and boxed.

The first few vehicles in Lothian’s brand new batch of 50 Volvo BZL electric buses entered service today on services 8 and 9.

703 is seen here at King’s Buildings terminus where it appeared to be refusing to startup again. 705 (SF74 YMC) can be seen in front about to head back to Muirhouse on the 9.

Trams 3121-3147 were on order before the COVID problems, and have been introduced slowly over the last three years. I think this is the last of the new batch to be delivered. I have got pictures of all of them except for 3144 and 3146.
