When I saw this happening across the lake, I knew it would be necessary to get lower than my perch above. Getting there was very challenging but looked much better than on top of the higher rocks. Closer to the water gave a more intimate look and helped the foreground.

Fun Fact - A giraffe's tongue can be 18 to 20 inches long.

This is Arnieta at Brookfield Zoo.

What a lucky shot. She was walking across the exhibit with her tongue hanging out.

Arnieta was born to Franny and Dusti at Brookfield Zoo and will turn 10 yrs old this coming January.

You can see Arnieta at Habitat Africa, Savannah along with Potoka 3, Jasiri 11 (Potoka's mom), and Mithra, 26

Captured during one of our "adventure series" workshops in a remote area of Death Valley National Park, March 2022. Although camping is required and sturdy tires are advised, no camping experience is necessary and we can help you find and rent a vehicle appropriate for the journey (no "four wheeling" experience necessary... most of the roads we'll travel are unpaved, but generally not particularly rough).

We're looking at adding a more black and white focused workshop January 10-15, 2024. Our adventure series workshop to Death Valley is scheduled for March 10-15, 2024.

Urbino Cathedral is a Catholic cathedral in the city of Urbino, Italy, dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Since 1986 it has been the seat of the Archbishop of Urbino-Urbania-Sant'Angelo in Vado, and was previously the seat of the Archbishops of Urbino.

The first cathedral on the site was built here in 1021, to replace an earlier one located outside the city walls. Under the patronage of Count Federico da Montefeltro, it was rebuilt in the 15th century, based on a design attributed to Francesco di Giorgio Martini. Construction was not finished until 1604. The west front, using stone quarried from Furlo, was designed by Camillo Morigia and completed in 1782. It was ornamented with five statues, representing the three theological virtues of Faith, Hope, and Charity, between Saint Augustine to the left and Saint John Chrysostom to the right.

On 12 January 1789, a powerful earthquake toppled the cupola, and made a reconstruction necessary. The project was entrusted to Giuseppe Valadier, and completed by 1801 in the present Neoclassical style.

Solidarity, sometimes, is too long a word, but it is always necessary, since love requires it to survive, in this meaningless world, we cannot be blind, injustices are here on earth, because we men populate it. .. Hopefully we are able to change this world, and make it a more generous and less violent place... No war, of any kind, anywhere in the world...

I don't know why you think

I don't know why you think, soldier, that I hate you?

If we are the same thing:

You; I.

You are poor, I am. I'm from below, you are.

Where did you find out, soldier, that I hate you?

It hurts me that sometimes you forget who I am.

Damn, if I am you, the same as you are me.

But not for that I have to support you;

If we are the same thing, you; I.

We'll see you and me, together on the same street

Shoulder to shoulder, you, me; without hatred, neither me nor you.

But knowing you and me, where are we going me and you.

I don't know why you think, soldier, that I hate you?

heavy rains, winds & high tides (King Tides) have resulted in much flooding on Vancouver Island, many communities are sandbagging & some folks are evacuating where necessary . . . and the rains continue . . .

This 177 foot waterfall appears to be a favorite of visitors to Silver Falls State Park because it is near the parking lot so not much hiking is required to see it. Although I did overhear some complaints about the short steep slope necessary to descend to get this viewpoint. If one keeps walking one can walk behind the waterfall. If you zoom in, you can see the railing by the trail behind the falls.

I really love these with her make-up. Lots of depth; a gorgeous dark violet-blue like the night sky over the desert... I love them! Again, these are the unlined chips with a slightly larger pupil.

Her lips will be glossed as well.

And flickr friends... again; too many photos - please don't feel it necessary to comment on them all! Thanks for looking, though!

a walk all around the giant's causeway in Northern Ireland, still part of UK. The Giant's Causeway (Irish: Clochán an Aifir) is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic fissure eruption. It is located in County Antrim on the north coast of Northern Ireland, about three miles (4.8 km) northeast of the town of Bushmills.

It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 and a national nature reserve by the Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland in 1987. In a 2005 poll of Radio Times readers, the Giant's Causeway was named the fourth-greatest natural wonder in the United Kingdom.

The tops of the columns form stepping stones that lead from the cliff foot and disappear under the sea. Most of the columns are hexagonal, although some have four, five, seven, or eight sides. The tallest are about 12 metres (39 ft) high, and the solidified lava in the cliffs is 28 metres (92 ft) thick in places.

Much of the Giant's Causeway and Causeway Coast World Heritage Site is owned and managed by the National Trust. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Northern Ireland, receiving over 998,000 visitors in 2019. Access to the Giant's Causeway is free of charge: it is not necessary to go via the visitor centre, which charges a fee. The remainder of the site is owned by the Crown Estate and several private landowners. Wikipedia

Only through extreme (some would say over the top) processing could I bring out the sunrays in the sky, which to me was necessary to create the fairy tale like atmosphere of the place and the moment. The field is sloping slightly up to the right which may deceive you into thinking that the horizon is not straight.

I think it's great this made the Flickr Explore page. This was a nice walk out to the beach from Anthony's On The Beach, in Cocoa Beach Florida. Basic rooms for sleeping in. Great for waking up to this. This was taken with a point and shoot bridge camera. It was this series of photos taken that morning that prompted me to go buy a better camera. Though this does demonstrate an expensive camera isn't always necessary for satisfactory results. As Woody Allen said, showing up is 80 percent of life

Managed to get out this morning and pay the beach a visit - this time it was Newcastle Beach, NSW; Australia.

Here I've used the rusty posts that surround what's known locally as The Canoe (or World) Pool a children's saltwater pool that is located beside the Newcastle Ocean Baths.

The sun was pretty high in the sky so it was necessary for me to use my Lee Big Stopper and Lee .9 Hard Grad filters to create this long exposure image.

Thanks again for any comments, views or favorites - hope you liked it!

Hope too that you have a wonderful week!!!

Necessary avenues in sunny afternoon.

This beautiful little butterfly is the Common Palmfly - Elymnias hypermnestra - which is found in south and southeast Asia. They love the shade and are most often seen flying in Palm plantations (as this one was) or among vegetation near palm trees. The Palm tree is necessary to these lovely insects because their leaves are the main food of the caterpillar. This one was seen whilst walking through a Palm plantation near our hotel in Khaolak, Thailand.

The Dunkirk Art Deco district of Rosendael

Work of François Reynaert born in Rosendael in 1887, the eccentric district of Dunkirk, located in the former town of Rosendael, is a district, you guessed it, altogether atypical.

This mason and decorative artist was asked in 1927 to build the first house nicknamed “the snail”. Thirty other orders followed in the face of the success of the first house, in the same district that he nicknamed "the eccentric". This district of Rosendael, located near the fortifications of Dunkirk, thus emerged from the ground during the crazy years of the interwar period, but not without difficulty. François Reynaert indeed struggled to obtain the necessary authorizations.

This small neighborhood is spread over two streets forming a “U”, rue André Chénier and rue Martin Luther King. Other eclectic Art Deco-inspired villas were also built nearby.

François Reynaert died at his home in the Quartier Excentric on August 12, 1958.

Welcome to Planet Frost

Our tour continues...

You may have noticed during our tour that we have not seen any Space Police. While they do have a presence here on Planet Frost, it is minimal because we have a very low crime rate. You may see some private security rovers like this one. Some of our more prominent residents have been known to hire the Galaxy Patrol mercenaries, not so much because the security is necessary; it is mostly because it looks cool to have them follow you around.

With an ex - MoPac standard cab 40 that some how escaped the wye in Pontiac leading on CN A451, I took advantage of having to go to control point Cedar at the start of the work day and decided to make the climb on our new cantilever signal on the east end of the plant to get a bird's eye view of the old Screaming Eagle over the Red Cedar River. Why buy a drone when I can climb? Unfortunately not everyone has my access, all the more reason to utilize and share with the world.

No experience necessary.

Outside of a house in my street. I blame the owners, not the dogs. Unfortunately, this sign is necessary.

This capture of the Robin's nest under our deck was taken with the back camera of my iPhone. We get along well with 'our' Robins, I vocalize to them all the time. I don't go under the deck except when absolutely necessary, but I see the nest, often with mom or dad sitting on it, every time I pass and say hello. I cut the lawn the other day, and the parent didn't flee the nest even when I came in close with the mower. One of the reasons we have them, is that we have stopped putting seeds out for the birds and squirrels. Squirrels, Crows and likely even Blue Jays are opportunistic nest robbers, and now we don't see these near the house any more, making for a safer place to build a nest for the Robins in the back, and the Song Sparrows in the front.

A sunnier, warmer day...taken at Swanscombe Peninsula, a piece of land poking into the River Thames between Northfleet and Greenhithe. It remains blighted by the fictitious "London Resort" scam; some moneybags making silly planning applications to build an enormous theme park, but never getting anywhere...money laundering ? One wonders. I can see these suited bloviators drooling uncontrollably as they talk endlessly about the meaningless despoiling of land for PROFIT and specious prestige...

Daisies are far more pleasant and necessary, of course, and there can never be too many of them.
