Wildfires occur when all the necessary elements of a fire triforce come together in a susceptible area: an ignition source is brought into contact with a combustible material such as vegetation that is subjected to enough heat and has an adequate supply of oxygen from the ambient air. A high moisture content usually prevents ignition and slows propagation, because higher temperatures are needed to evaporate any water in the material and heat the material to its fire point. Dense forests usually provide more shade, resulting in lower ambient temperatures and greater humidity, and are therefore less susceptible to wildfires. Less dense material such as grasses and leaves are easier to ignite because they contain less water than denser material such as branches and trunks. Plants continuously lose water by evapotranspiration, but water loss is usually balanced by water absorbed from the soil, humidity, or rain. When this balance is not maintained, plants dry out and are therefore more flammable, often as a consequence of droughts.

Sometimes it is necessary to stop for a moment and enjoy the warmth of your home with your love ❤️

Launched in 1824 HMS Unicorn is the oldest ship in Scotland and one of the six oldest ships in the world. It was originally constructed as a 46 gun frigate at Chatham Royal Dockyard in England and arrived in Dundee in 1873 as a training ship for the Royal Naval Reserves, a role she carried out until the 1960s.

The Unicorn was handed over to the Unicorn Preservation Society in 1968 and opened to the public in 1975.

There are plans to move the ship to dry dock for necessary restoration and preservation after £1.11m in funding was very recently secured.

It would be nice if this work could be completed in time for HMS Unicorn's 200th birthday in 2024.

Museum of Arts and Popular Customs of Seville

The Museum of Arts and Popular Customs of Seville (Spanish: Museo de Artes y Costumbres Populares) is a museum in Seville, Andalusia, Spain, located in the María Luisa Park, across the Plaza de América from the Provincial Archeological Museum.

The museum occupies the Mudéjar Pavilion (Pabellón Mudéjar) designed by Aníbal González and built in 1914. It served as an art pavilion, the Pabellón de Arte Antiguo, for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929, when Aníbal González had the opportunity to design several additional permanent buildings for the plaza. The exterior is ceramic over brick, and has three doors with archivolts adorned with glazed tiles (azulejos).[citation needed]

The building originally consisted of two stories over an aeration chamber (necessary because of the humidity). In the 1960s, the main floor, originally over 12 metres (39 ft) high, was divided in two, with an intermediate level added by architect Delgado Roig. In 1972, as part of the preparations for the current museum, the various stories of the building were connected by a grand spiral staircase designed by José Galnares Sagastizábal.

The museum was established by a decree of 23 March 1972, initially as a section of the Museum of Fine Arts of Seville. It opened its doors to the public 4 March 1973.[2] For the next seven years, the museum fell under the responsibility of the Ministry of Education and Science, but the city government occupied more than half of the poorly maintained building. Neither institution took full responsibility. This situation led to a series of temporary closures. In 1976, the electric bill could not be paid, and the museum had to be shut until it could get power again. In 1979, heavy rains damaged the interior.

“A path is only a path, and there is no affront, to oneself or to others, in dropping it if that is what your heart tells you . . . Look at every path closely and deliberately. Try it as many times as you think necessary. Then ask yourself alone, one question . . . Does this path have a heart? If it does, the path is good; if it doesn't it is of no use.”

However, I can't find any photos of it more recent than 2016, so I have to assume its rotting in a deadline somewhere, or worse...

THE ANIMAL CRUSADE

One day all the sties and burrows opened

And out came the cave-bear the mammoth the seafaring

cormorant, that poetic diving bird, the white-headed vulture

the rock-goat from the mountains, the sea unicorn

You could see by their snouts that they meant business

You could hear by their flapping wings and their burr

They had thrown off their humility, cast down their yoke

once imposed by Adam’s secretive hero

the one with the garden

They were, to cut a long story short, fed up

And the morals of the shotgun had been cast off

the flayed skin of flight had faded

The viper walked tall and the swine wore polaroid glasses

that lent him pleasant looks. The beavers

gnawed down telegraph poles and so cut off any form of communication

Predictably enough, the lion led the way black black

as black gold and gold-coloured as deep black

It was a magnificent procession, blinding to the eye

At the back the unicorn reported as missing, the dodo the passenger pigeon

as well as various viruses and the elated spermatozoids

So the holy animals

travelled the holy world

And do you know how or why?

Oh no, they just went travelling, they didn’t have a flag!

Sometimes ripped up laws out of sheer happiness

or bled a city dry

Now and then trampled on a Jesus

or struck down a prophet or a princess

They were beginning to get tired

Haste no longer necessary

The one day’s deities left the fire

Solitude is necessary for any person, even an extrovert. Only in solitude is a person able to develop, analyze, create. This is an opportunity to replenish your mental resources and put everything in order.

Усамітнення необхідне будь-якій людині, навіть екстраверту. Тільки на самоті людина здатна розвиватися, аналізувати, творити. Це можливість заповнити свої душевні ресурси та розкласти все по поличках.

Although the Eastern Spinebill is sometimes called Australia’s hummingbird due to its ability to hover while gathering nectar - the diminutive Brown Honeyeater is no slouch in this department either!

Hovering behaviour actually occurs more frequently than thought, not only in terms of the range of avian species but also in its occurrence within species. Recent research found that neither the geographical distribution of bird species nor their traits (size, body mass) are a limiting factor for hovering behaviour, but that plant traits are important. Quite simply when perches at the plants are inadequate or lacking, hovering is then more appropriate or necessary

The Damme Canal (French: Canal de Damme. Dutch: Damse Vaart or Napoleonvaart) is a canal in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The canal links Bruges with the Western Scheldt at Sluis, Netherlands. It was constructed on the orders of Napoleon Bonaparte who wished to create a canal network in order to permit the efficient transport of troops without the risk of disruptive interventions from the British navy.

Following the defeat of Napoleon, the original strategic imperative for the canal was removed. The plans in the Napoleonic era had called for a link to the Scheldt at Breskens. Half a century later the canal opened to traffic in 1856, and the link with the sea had moved to Sluis.

At Damme the canal crosses the Leopold Canal and the Schipdonk Canal, both of which were dug in the middle years of the nineteenth century in order to reduce the vulnerability of the Belgian canal network to Dutch interference, after the achievement in 1830 of Belgian independence. It was necessary to create a system of Siphons because of the differences in water level of the three canals. The canal was used until 1940 when French troops destroyed the siphon system: this put an end to maritime transport on the Damme Canal.

After World War II use of the canal resumed, but it was used now by pleasure boats, along with a tourist boat connecting Damme and Bruges.

It's cold and it feels even colder today because it's windy. The remaining snow in the garden is rather ice now and Fynn, the only one who has been outdoors for more than 5 minutes today, isn't fond of walking on it. Not only does the ice crush under his feet, it also sticks between his toes. It was necessary to patrol along the fence, though, and check whether the neighbour's dogs were outdoors (they were not). The cold will get worse in the next days as we expect polar weather. Fynn says he doesn't care because he has his winter coat but I think it may be time for the sweater I bought for him.

Starting tourist house with all necessary information. We started from there and started climbing, just before the house disappeared into the distance one shot was required.

Machu Picchu 20221127

Located in the heart of the Peruvian Andes, the sacred Inca citadel built around 1450 and discovered in 1911, still hides enigmas and mysteries about its real purpose, which continue to be hidden to this day and which arouse the interest of both visitors and archaeologists from all over the world.

Due to its strategic location at the top of a high mountain, there are various theories about what it could mean for the Incas. Some argue that it was built as a great mausoleum for the Inca Pachacútec, while others claim that it was an important administrative and agricultural center whose cultivation areas served for the livelihood of its inhabitants. However, it is also considered that it was used as a necessary link between the Andes and the Peruvian Amazon or as a resting residence for the Inca governor.

The truth is that Machu Picchu is one of the greatest symbols behind what was the impressive architecture and engineering of the Inca Empire. Although its origin is still the subject of study, the value and significance it represented in its time, as well as its imposing design, have earned it to be considered one of the seven wonders of the modern world.

Perché aspetti con impazienza le cose? Se sono inutili per la tua vita, inutile è anche aspettarle. Se sono necessarie, loro verranno e verranno nel momento giusto.

Why do you wait impatiently for things? If they are useless for your life, it is useless to wait for them too. If they are necessary, they will come and come at the right time.

In order for others to respect you boundaries must be set! Many times this will be an unpopular decision, but it is necessary for you to be crowned!

The emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae) is the second-largest living bird by height, after its ratite relative, the ostrich. It is endemic to Australia where it is the largest native bird and the only extant member of the genus Dromaius. The emu's range covers most of mainland Australia, but the Tasmanian, Kangaroo Island and King Island subspecies became extinct after the European settlement of Australia in 1788. The bird is sufficiently common for it to be rated as a least-concern species. Emus are soft-feathered, brown, flightless birds with long necks and legs, and can reach up to 1.9 metres in height. Emus can travel great distances, and when necessary can sprint at 50 km/h; they forage for a variety of plants and insects, but have been known to go for weeks without eating. They drink infrequently, but take in copious amounts of water when the opportunity arises. The emu is an important cultural icon of Australia, appearing on the coat of arms and various coins. The bird features prominently in Indigenous Australian mythology. 26781

Sunset. And here's the Zuiderkerk (South Church) from our bedroom window. This church was the first in Amsterdam to have been built for Protestant church services. But more interesting perhaps is the story that Rembrandt - who lived just down the street - painted the Nightwatch here because his studio was too small. Tour guides like to state this as a fact to jaw-dropping visitors. The story is apocryphal, but nice to tell with the necessary winks. Regardless, three of his children were buried here...

Every person how is visiting the Lofoten, takes a photo of this motife. So, this motif has been photographed already thousands of times, but fortnatly it's never completely the same. :)) Here with my picture, I have chosen a long exposure time. To take the photo was difficult, because it was very stormy and the bridge sometimes vibrated when crossing cars. Several tries were necessary, to get one sharp photo. Important is to have a really good and stable tripod and a bit of luck!

With significant pressures, back-ups are now necessary and we will proceed into the Ark in threes or fours folks! Japanese Gardens, Toowoomba, Queensland.

Yes Virginia there is a Mersey River in Tasmania too. Not as famous a waterway as the one in Liverpool, but still a transport hub for Tasmania. Everything I said about making the previous photograph applies here. If the motion blur of the ship was going to have an impact, the rest of the photograph had to be as sharp as possible. Catching the bow waves was essential, making a slightly higher ISO necessary.

[You definitely need to enlarge this one to see the golden moonlight reflections on the water.]
