More than a thousand people enjoyed the first Imjin Proms on Saturday.

The concert and outdoor festival event raised money for three military service charity associations with entertainment ranging from a musically choreographed Spitfire display to children's activities.

"The weather's held off and it's been a fantastic evening, with a fantastic range of music, with parachutists, and airplanes, and it's all just been going very well from my point of view," said Simon Footer, the main event coordinator from the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.

Imjin Barracks, a Royal Air Force base that served for decades, has been home since 2010 to the event's other main host, NATO's Allied Rapid Reaction Corps

Lt.Gen. Tim Evans, ARRC commander, welcomed the crowd with gratitude, wishing everyone a splendid evening, and thanking Aramark and other sponsors. The general envisioned the event more than a year ago to be a way for Imjin and other nearby military communities to share a memorable evening with Gloucestershire.

Sharing the experience of the Spitfire display brought many emotions to the diverse crowd. Presenter Peter Dickson said he was moved by the arial display, as that plane holds a special place in British hearts, answering a call in the 1940's with young pilots when "our backs were really against the wall, it delivered the effect we needed." Remembering them and the sacrifice of so many is important and one theme for the evening, he continued. The whole night has "surpassed expectation."

"I've painted many of them as a kid, but that's the first time I've ever seen one," said presenter Lewis Macleod, in a sincere moment backstage when he wasn't keeping the crowd laughing with his voice impressions between acts. "It was really beautiful."

The plane flew to classical music played by The Band of the Royal Air Force College, who also lit up the evening with a finale and fireworks around 10 pm. Other music included a pop-music cover set by the Adjutant Generals Corps' Band who got people up and dancing from their picnic blankets and chairs. The crowd also witnessed the precision of The Royal Marines Band and 19th Regimental Royal Artillery Pipes and Drums.

Children representing their school's talent, the Innsworth Military Wives Choir, and many others performed during the evening to the local crowd. The event succeeded in opening the gates of Imjin to the community and there is a hope to see more of these kinds of events in future.

She's got a way of pleasin'

I don't know why it is

Last night I went out to Ultra with my friend MJ and Heidi. I had a fun time even if I was designated driver, drunk friend babysitter, and 3am breakfast buddy. I had a good time. :)

I didnt get home and pass out until 4am, in which I had to wake up again at 8am to get ready to go to Sarasota with Burnt Umber to shoot architecture and the Ringling Museum. (That also meant I had a great time)

then we proceeded to look for eagles that did not appear for photo opps. :|

then i had to quickly high-tail it out once I got home to go shoot a maternity session with Danielle. :)

wellll...... i gotta cut this one short because I just got a text to go riding. be back later to add to groups!

Roxy Music are an English art rock group formed in 1971 by Bryan Ferry, who became the group's lead vocalist and chief songwriter. The other members are Phil Manzanera (guitar), Andy Mackay (saxophone and oboe) and Paul Thompson (drums and percussion). Former members include Brian Eno (synthesizer and "treatments"), and Eddie Jobson (synthesizer and violin). Although the band took a break from group activities in 1983, they reunited for a concert tour in 2001, and have toured together intermittently since that time.

Roxy Music attained popular and critical success in the UK, Europe and Australia during the 1970s and early 1980s, beginning with their debut album, Roxy Music (1972).[1] The band was highly influential, as leading proponents of the more experimental, musically sophisticated element of glam, as well as a significant influence on early English punk music. They also provided a model for many New Wave acts and the experimental electronic groups of the early 1980s. The group is distinguished by their visual and musical sophistication and their preoccupation with style and glamour.[2] Ferry and co-founding member Eno have also had influential solo careers, the latter becoming one of the most significant record producers and collaborators of the late 20th century.

Rolling Stone magazine ranked Roxy Music #98 on its "The Immortals – 100 The Greatest Artists of All Time" list.[3]

A new studio album, which would have been their ninth, began recording in 2005. It would have been Roxy's first record with Brian Eno since 1973, who wrote two songs for it as well as played keyboards.[4] However, Bryan Ferry eventually confirmed that material from these sessions would be released as a Ferry solo album, with Eno playing on "a couple of tracks,"[5] and that he doesn't think they'll record as Roxy Music again.[6] Subsequently, this was confirmed by the announcement of a solo Bryan Ferry album, entitled Olympia.

Pianist and Keyboardist Bernie Worrell is probably one of the most important and innovative musicians to help shape and mold how funk, jazz, classical, and rock in American popular music. This Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, along with Eddie Hazel, William “Bootsie” Collins, and George Clinton changed the world musically by adding a new musical mix by playing a more aggressive form of music that added the use of electronics as well as percussion to the mix. The groups Parliament-Funkadelic would become a musical amalgamation that played rock and soul that evolved into funk music. Worrell would go on to become the arranger and co-writer of the groups songs including “Flashlight,” Give Up the Funk,” “Mothership Connection,” and “Aqua Boogie.” His signature Minimoog and many keyboard arrangements have been sampled endlessly by rappers including De La Soul, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and A Tribe Called Quest.

His latest project is both a labor of love as well as something he’s wanted to record during his entire career. “Bernie Worrell: Standards,” is his first jazz recording in a career that spans some 45 years. Bernie enlisted the help of drummer Evan Taylor, who also serves as the co-producer of the disc, to also put together his new group The Bernie Worrell Orchestra. As his producer, both the and Bernie endlessly put together a list of jazz standards ranging from Duke Ellington’s “Take the A Train” to Dave Brubeck’s “Take 5.” But it allows him to play behind a nine-piece band that features two drummers, a percussionist, two saxophonists, a trumpeter, a bassist, and guitarist. It’s a funky and organic project that allows the master keyboardist to ‘funk out’ these jazz standards.

These songs aren’t a far departure from Bernie’s origins and beginning in the industry. Born George Bernard Worrell, Jr on April 19, 1944 in Long Branch, New Jersey, he grew up listening to classical and jazz music as a child. He was born with perfect pitch and began studying classical music at 3 years old. By playing the piano, his mother wouldn’t allow the young musical prodigy listen to the sounds of rhythm and blues that was popular at the time. Instead, he had to sneak and listen to R&B while studying Brahms, Beethoven, and Bach. Though he listened to jazz music which he took a liking to and followed pianists like Thelonious Monk, Oscar Peterson, and Bud Powell.

Upon graduating from high school, Bernie attended the New England Conservatory of Music. But it was while he was in school that he was getting his chops as a professional musician while playing in Boston. He backed the likes of Tavares, Tammi Terrell, Pigmeat Markham, and R & B great Maxine Brown; whom he became her musical director for 2 years after he completed school.

But it was his reign with Parliament that he gave the music world his innovative keyboard style. He also was a member the new wave group The Talking Heads and was featured in the critically-acclaimed concert film “Stop Making Sense.”

Bernie has been a leader since the late 1970’s when he recorded and released his debut album “All the Woo in the World.” He’s backed and played on recordings by The Honey Cones, Johnnie Taylor, Black Rock Johnson, Freda Payne, Albert King, Bobby Womack, The Dramatics, Mtume, The Spinners, Gil-Scott Heron, and Sly & Robbie.

Currently, Bernie is on the road with the orchestra. For upcoming dates or to order his latest disc “Bernie Worrell: Standards,” please visit him on the web at www.bernieworrell.com.

In the heart of Vienna, a city renowned for its rich musical heritage, lived a remarkable feline named Mdm. Ivana Schwanz-Doryova. A tabby with a penchant for Mozart, she spent her days practicing arias in her sunlit apartment, the strains of her melodious voice drifting out of her window and charming passersby. Her dream was to perform at the Vienna State Opera, and she tirelessly auditioned for years, her persistence as sharp as her claws.

Finally, her moment arrived. Mdm. Ivana received a gilded invitation to sing the leading soprano role in Strauss's *Katzenliebe*. The entire city buzzed with anticipation, for the tale of a musically talented cat was the stuff of legends. On the night of her debut, the opera house was packed. Humans, cats, and even a few aristocratic dogs gathered to witness history in the making.

As the velvet curtains rose, Mdm. Ivana stepped onto the stage, her heart beating in rhythm with the orchestra. The first few acts went flawlessly, her voice weaving a tapestry of sound that left the audience spellbound. Then came the climactic moment—the main aria.

Just as she was about to begin, a chorus of rabbits, who had been expertly trained to harmonize with the feline star, made their way onto the stage. In a fateful misstep, one of the rabbits accidentally stood on Ivana's tail. Pain shot through her, and she let out an instinctive yowl—a High D of such purity and power that it resonated through the opera house, stunning the audience into a brief silence before they erupted into thunderous applause.

The vibrations from the applause reverberated through the old theatre, causing chandeliers to sway and stage scenery to tremble. Pieces of the set began to collapse around her, yet Mdm. Ivana, in true diva fashion, remained completely unfazed. She continued her aria, her voice soaring above the chaos. Her performance was so captivating that the audience demanded several encores.

With each encore, the ovation grew louder, and more of the stage fell apart. By the end of her fifth encore, the stage was in ruins, with bits of scenery strewn everywhere. Amidst the wreckage, Mdm. Ivana stood proudly, basking in the adulation.

Backstage, the theatre management was in a frenzy. The director, an impeccably dressed ferret named Herr Gustav von Finkelstein, was beside himself with fury. "This is an outrage!" he fumed. "Our beautiful set, destroyed! The chaos! The costs!"

Despite their anger, the management could not deny the brilliance of Ivana's performance. The reviews the next day were rapturous, with critics declaring it one of the greatest debuts in the history of the Vienna State Opera. The demand for tickets to *Katzenliebe* skyrocketed, and soon every performance was sold out.

However, the management had to address the logistical nightmare. They called a meeting with Mdm. Ivana, who arrived still purring with the glow of her success. "Mdm. Schwanz-Doryova," Herr von Finkelstein began, struggling to maintain his composure, "while your performance was extraordinary, the destruction of our stage cannot continue."

Ivana listened intently, her green eyes twinkling with understanding. "I see your dilemma, Herr von Finkelstein," she replied with a graceful flick of her tail. "I propose a solution. Allow me to sing with the chorus positioned in a way that ensures my tail remains undisturbed. Additionally, we can reinforce the set to withstand the vibrations of enthusiastic applause."

After some deliberation, the management agreed. They couldn't afford to lose the star who had taken Vienna by storm. With these adjustments in place, Mdm. Ivana continued to perform to packed houses, her voice enchanting audiences night after night.

And so, Mdm. Ivana Schwanz-Doryova's legacy as the feline soprano who captivated Vienna lived on. She became a symbol of resilience and talent, proving that even amidst chaos, a true artist remains focused on their art. The Vienna State Opera, with its reinforced stage, stood as a testament to her unforgettable debut, where a single High D changed everything.

Ivana, in wahrer Diva-Manier, blieb völlig unbeeindruckt.

This meme was even harder than the last one. I know that once I choose an answer I am going to think of another answer that would have fit better. Music has always been important to me. I feel that the music in a person's life is what defines them. Maybe I am just thinking too hard. I am not really finding the 'real' me so to speak, in this meme. Well who I always thought was the 'real' me. So, I am answering these questions for the here and now and putting aside the old stand-by's from the past. Knowing me, they will probably change by tomorrow anyway.

1. What's your favorite song? This is a hard question to answer as I kind of have two. "The Promise" by When in Rome and "Subculture" by New Order.

2. Favorite genre of music? (Classical, Jazz, Country, Pop...) I don't know what they call it now-a-days. Indie/Alternative/Emo. It used to be Alternativey/Gothy/Punkish back in the olden days. You know, all the cool stuff that you would NEVER hear on the radio.

3. Favorite musician (add singer/band to end if necessary)? It changes but currently, My Chemical Romance.

4. What was the last song you listened to/are currently listening to? "Loose Lips" by Kimya Dawson.

5. What type of music do you dislike? Rap

6. What instrument do you like to listen to the most? It really depends on what music I am listening too. I do like to listen to guitar especially when the parts are really intricate.

7. What instrument do you most like to play (or would like to learn)? I most like to play the piano. I really do miss not having mine in the house.

8. Where do you go or what do you listen to when you're sad? I don't listen to anything in particular when I am sad, but I can say that listening to ELO, Erasure, and currently Midnight Juggernauts sure does seem to put me in a super mood! It has to be something you can dance too.

9. What was the last concert or musical event you attended (add singer/band to end if necessary)? Tesla

10. What concert or musical event do you wish you could have attended? Or a performer you would have loved to have seen live? Michael Hutchence & INXS back in 1988.

11. You and your sweetie, what's your 'song'? If you aren't paired off, what song do you think it might be? There isn't one. Although when we first started dating he sure did sing "The Joker" by The Steve Miller band, a lot. Romantic, isn’t it? LOL! I guess he liked my peaches.

12. What song gets stuck in your head the most? (For good or for bad...) Usually it's "Ashes to Ashes" by David Bowie, but TODAY I cannot get "Anyone Else But You" by the Moldy Peaches to stop playing in my head. It does not help that today the hubby is singing it too. Hey! Maybe we have found OUR song after all!

if i had any sense

i guess i'd fear this

i guess i'd keep it down

so no one would hear this

i guess i'd shut my mouth

and rethink a minute

but i can't shut it now

'cuz there's something in it

Me In Honey: R.E.M., Out of Time

As many of the songs on this album were lyrically personal to Michael Stipe, this song was very personal to me. Musically, it is one of the easiest songs one would ever know. Vocally Mike Mills, Michael Stipe and Kate Pierson from the B-52’s just nail their pitches. Lyrically, it was amazing for what I was going through at the time. (The irony of this was that it was the last track on this album, and the last track on their last album, Green, really affected me as well. What is it with their ending tracks?)

This album came out my senior year of High School. I was deeply in love with this girl but we were at odds for reasons I couldn’t understand. To this day I do not understand why we suddenly imploded. But through the dissension of our relationship we had all these bizarre rules put out there that I didn’t understand. I ended up going to my Senior Year prom with a snobby stranger and I had a miserable time. I was lost in life and the relationship, and I just didn’t get it… When I didn’t understand the rules I thought it was because of me… like the line I thought I was a waste of her time.

Truth is, I wasn’t- but it took me years to find that out. I remember listening to this song over and over and out of all the lines- that one always stabbed at me- stuck out at me like a thorn. It isn’t something I harp on, in fact she and I have become great friends over the years. And as sad and pathetic as that period of self drowning may seem, I am thankful for it because it really shaped me.

To this day I can sing along with Stipe and really get some of my emotions out. I can remember who I am now, and who I was then… and chuckle at the things I thought, and smile at the distances I have traveled since then.

*** Artist Notes ***

Yes, this actually is honey… sugar free honey to be exact. How the hell does that exist???

Lyrics:

I sat there looking ugly

Looking ugly and mean

I knew what you were saying

You were saying to me

Baby's got some new rules

Baby, said she's had it with me

It seems a shame you waste your time on me

It seems a lot to waste your time for me

Left me to love

What it's doing to me

There's a lot of honey in this world

Baby, this honey's for me

You've got to do what you do

Do it with me

It seems a shame you waste your time for me

Knocked silly

Knock flat

Sideways down

These things they pick you up

And they turn you around

Say your piece

Say you're sweet for me

It's all the same to share the pain with me

It's all the same. Save the shame for me

Baby's got some new rules

Baby, says she's had it with me

There's a fly in the honey

And baby's got a baby with me

That's a part

That's a part of me

What about me?

What about me?

These are the seasons of emotion

And like the winds they rise and fall

This is the wonder of devotion

I see the torch we all must hold.

This is the mystery of the quotient-

Upon us all a little rain

Must fall.

The Rain Song by Led Zeppelin

so today was a lazy sunday. it rained all day and i had a blast just lounging around doing nothing, except I did finish another wedding folder of photos (YAY) i then proceeded to find a way to entertain myself and further procrastinate from doing actual homework.

I didnt realize that today was piss off Anna day. I am a pretty easy going I can care less if it doesnt affect me but there are certain things that just makes me go up a wall. well something happened today that made my emotions rage.

I really wanted to go outside and play in the rain and calm down. So after I went to buy ice cream and some supplies for school i went to the open area by my house and set up my camera and started really just jumping around. it made me happy for a bit.

Right into the Danger Zone

You'll never say hello to you

Until you get it on the red line overload

You'll never know what you can do

Until you get it up as high as you can go

Out along the edges

Always where I burn to be

The further on the edge

The hotter the intensity

Highway to the Danger Zone

Gonna take you

Right into the Danger Zone

Highway to the Danger Zone

Has a record ever had such an effect on you, that you remember the first time you heard the first note of the first song on the album?

I know it is cheesy, but this album is like that for me..... I remember, to this day, almost 20 years later, putting that CD in the CD player and hearing for the first time what would be a huge influence on me musically.... Everything I hear I compare to this band and nothing measures up....

First few lines of lyrics:

God money i'll do anything for you.

God money just tell me what you want me to.

God money nail me up against the wall.

God money don't want everything he wants it all.

No you can't take it

No you can't take that away from me

No you can't take it

No you can't take that away from me

Head like a hole.

Black as your soul.

I'd rather die than give you control.

Head like a hole.

Black as your soul.

I'd rather die than give you control.

Bow down before the one you serve.

You're going to get what you deserve.

Evanescence - Bring Me To Life

how can you see into my eyes like open doors

leading you down into my core

where I’ve become so numb without a soul my spirit sleeping somewhere cold

until you find it there and lead it back home

(Wake me up)

Wake me up inside

(I can’t wake up)

Wake me up inside

(Save me)

call my name and save me from the dark

(Wake me up)

bid my blood to run

(I can’t wake up)

before I come undone

(Save me)

save me from the nothing I’ve become

now that I know what I’m without

you can't just leave me

breathe into me and make me real

bring me to life

(Wake me up)

Wake me up inside

(I can’t wake up)

Wake me up inside

(Save me)

call my name and save me from the dark

(Wake me up)

bid my blood to run

(I can’t wake up)

before I come undone

(Save me)

save me from the nothing I’ve become

Bring me to life

(I've been living a lie, there's nothing inside)

Bring me to life

frozen inside without your touch without your love darling only you are the life among the dead

all this time I can't believe I couldn't see

kept in the dark but you were there in front of me

I’ve been sleeping a thousand years it seems

got to open my eyes to everything

without a thought without a voice without a soul

don't let me die here

there must be something more

bring me to life

(Wake me up)

Wake me up inside

(I can’t wake up)

Wake me up inside

(Save me)

call my name and save me from the dark

(Wake me up)

bid my blood to run

(I can’t wake up)

before I come undone

(Save me)

save me from the nothing I’ve become

(Bring me to life)

I’ve been living a lie, there’s nothing inside

(Bring me to life)

Day42 Year3 of Project 365

Founded in 1993, the Krewe of Orpheus takes its name from the musically-inclined son of Zeus and Calliope. Founding members included Harry Connick, both the junior and senior.

In New Orleans, the krewe established themselves as a superkrewe with their first parade in 1994, which rolled with 700 riders. They were the first super Krewe to allow both male and female riders.

The Krewe's throws include a number of popular items including emblem beads, stuffed animals, signature beads, light-up Orpheus medallion beads, cups, three different types of doubloons, and 4-foot-long stuffed dragons.

They have a number of notable floats including the Dolly Trolley, the horse-drawn bus that was used in the opening of Hello Dolly with Barbra Streisand, the Smoking Mary which is a six unit float that looks like a steam locomotive, a Trojan horse and the Orpheus Leviathan Float, which is a three unit, 139-foot float, and the first Carnival float to use extensive fiber optic lighting.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Fats Domino wass the honorary grand marshall for 2014. His eldest son, Antoine Domino III, rode in the parade and perform his 85 year old father's music.

In addition to Fats Domino, Quentin Tarantino reigned as the krewe's celebrity monarch.

It's beautiful to break

Let your false flag drift away

Show me your face

You can fall apart on me

Because I'll be here as long as it takes

A remedy to steady your midnight shakes

I'll stay here as long as it takes...

- Spill Canvas, As Long As It Takes

Far from out of the woods, but it's amazing what a difference replacing dread and anxiety with hope and optimism can do. My mom is talking about taking me away for a girls' weekend in early September. So right now I'm kind of setting my sights on that. Because by then, other things will be moving in such a good direction too. And honestly, I could use a few days away from my life right now.

Please have mercy

You've unnerved me

So don't break my heart,

I ain't never done nothing to deserve this

I'm torn apart

Do you not see how I'm begging on my knees?

Don't speak, don't breathe,

You bring out the devil in me

Saw the knives out, turned my back

Heard the train coming, stayed out on the track

In the middle, in the middle, in the middle of a dream

I lost my shirt, I pawned my rings

I've done all the dumb things

Caught the fever, heard the tune

Thought I loved her, hung my heart on the moon

Started howling, made no sense

Thought my friends would rush to my defence

people in my regular life know me as Anna. If they know me as a photographer in real life, they soon start calling me Zee or Zee Anna. Somewhere between my online presence and my life merged. I'm okay with that. Except when your then-bf started referring to you as Zee, that got a little weird. Zee is me. I am Zee, but I was Anna first.

Hearts of Olden Glory

~ Runrig

There's thunder clouds

Round the hometown bay

As I walk out

In the rain

Through the sepia showers

And the photoflood days

I caught a fleeting glimpse

Of life

And though the water's

Black as night

The colours of Scotland

Leave you young inside

There's a vision

Coming soon

Through the faith

That cleans your wound

Hearts of olden glory

Will be renewed

Down the lens

Where the headlands stand

I feel a healing

Through this land

A cross for a people

Like wind through your hands

There must be a place

Under the sun

Where hearts of olden glory

Grow young

I touch no one and no one touches me.

Direct from Musically Challenged, here is some goodness for your Monday evening.

Also, even though this is in colour, in my own way it's inspired by this fella here, who's been blowing my mind lately with his gritty urban awesomeness.
