Created on accident. About 10 or 11 seconds into a 13-second exposure, I started to get wet from the spray of someone cleaning the plaza where I was standing. I grabbed my tripod and moved!

With morning servicing complete, the crew of East Broad Top Railroad Locomotive #16 "Nick" backs down from the north yard switch in Rockhill Furnace, PA to pick up a cut of loaded coal hoppers, freshly delivered from the mines and destined for interchange with the Pennsylvania Railroad up in Mt. Union. On the adjacent track, little sister Locomotive #12 "Millie" sits cold this day, awaiting a tow to the servicing area near the roundhouse, where she will get a boiler wash.
Of course, in 2023, there will be no boiler wash for "Millie." She's currently last on the list of the 5 remaining EBT steamers, which are awaiting restoration to operating condition. This re-enactment image was captured during an April, 2023 photo shoot on the East Broad Top Railroad, featuring the newly-restored Mikado #16, seen here.

The Palazzo Vecchio ("Old Palace") is the town hall of Florence, Italy. It overlooks the Piazza della Signoria with its copy of Michelangelo's David statue as well as the gallery of statues in the adjacent Loggia dei Lanzi.
Originally called the Palazzo della Signoria, after the Signoria of Florence, the ruling body of the Republic of Florence, it was also given several other names: Palazzo del Popolo, Palazzo dei Priori, and Palazzo Ducale, in accordance with the varying use of the palace during its long history. The building acquired its current name when the Medici duke's residence was moved across the Arno to the Palazzo Pitti.
In 1299, the comune and people of Florence decided to build a palace that would be worthy of the city's importance, and that would be more secure and defensible in times of turbulence for the magistrates of the commune. Arnolfo di Cambio, the architect of the Duomo and the Santa Croce church, began construction upon the ruins of Palazzo dei Fanti and Palazzo dell'Esecutore di Giustizia, once owned by the Uberti family. Giovanni Villani (1276–1348) wrote in his Nuova Cronica that the Uberti were "rebels of Florence and Ghibellines", stating that the palazzo was built to ensure that the Uberti family homes would never be rebuilt on the same location.
When rocks appear to move, but, no one is around to see it, did the rocks really move? Rocks at the Racetrack Playa in Death Valley National Park fall off the hill to the left and in the background on to the dry lake bed. Rare occurrences of rain, strong winds and ice move the rocks along the lake bed.
Cotton Belt 3813 tows a reefer on Southern Pacific subsidiary Visalia Electric near Woodlake, California. This move on June 25th was only the second train operated on VE during 1988. It is crossing the Kaweah River enroute to the end of the line at Hillmaid. That lone reefer on the drawbar will be spotted on speculation at a packing shed.
Before we left on our great Arizona foaming trip in 1988, we were advised that VE would be running this job. We drove all night from Klamath Falls, Oregon to catch it. After a morning on the Santa Fe in Fresno, we drove out to Exeter for this train.
Word had gotten out about the operation. There were four cars and seven railfans chasing the train. Catching this extremely rare move was a great start to our trip.
As you might suspect, VE was not long for the world. Its last train operated in 1990 and the railroad was abandoned in 1992. Ironically, the first few miles of VE were welded rail, which was subsequently relaid on Portland & Western north of Independence, Oregon.
A quartet of CSX EMDs had an eastbound rock job rolling along the B&O at Point of Rocks on a warm morning in 2008.
The "Dark Future" paint job was starting to show itself as seen on the second motor; the shopping cart [CSX] logo would soon be saturating the fleet.

There's a cute story behind this little boy. He was just strolling the shoreline while his Dad was fishing. I watched his actions. Although, he looked in this shot to be happily dancing. He is not dancing. A very playful puppy ran up to this boy wanting to play. The boy wasn’t sure what to do as he was startled and caught off guard. I think he was worried about maybe being bitten. He was moving to avoid the happy puppy’s quick playful moves. I watched as this opportunity developed. I thought this was going to be a fun shoot. I had taken a few photos and this being the best representation of the encounter. I couldn’t pass this up. Many times, I believe that timing is crucial to getting that very special capture.
