Expect that the captain aboard the ferry to Denmark, was reasonably "pissed off" when we didn't move our boat fast enough out of his way. Although they used the ship`s whistle / horn eagerly ...... But we were on a fishing trip and then everything else have to wait..... :-) Sorry Captain!

If you lay on the beach long enough, they will come! So close it's hard to focus. This little guy was about six feet away. Stone Harbor Point NJ.
Driving by a park in our neighborhood, the kids and I noticed a group of geese and gulls just standing around on the frozen pond. We pulled in, for the first time in months due to the cold, to give them a few treats...and to catch up with our bird friends.
As we walked over to the pond, this trio came waddling up. Once we pulled out the food, the one to the right turned it into high gear and hauled past his buddies to make sure he was first for the coming spoils. Some might call him pushy...but I guess he's just a goose who knows what he wants...

Because I seem to have a bad habit of standing in front of large moving vehicles that could squash me like a bug.

This anhinga has spearded this fish underwater and brought it to the surface.
The question remains, how do you get a double speared fish off your twin beaks and down your throat?
Well I will tell you if you have patience.
First and foremost is keep tension on your beaks; keep them spread apart so the fish can't 'wiggle' off your beaks.
Next - keep it at the end of your beak(s) for a long time, why?
Well you want it to stop struggling ....
Then, thrash it all about..................

Now that the anhinga has moved it (quite quickly) up, down, sideways, and upside down, the anhinga prepares for the end of this phase of the process, which is the...........
This isn't the kind of shot my client looks for when advertising her stallions, LOL, but I couldn't resist. Had to play with this one. This is Ardri and he had just been turned loose for the shoot. And as always, these stallions go wild in the beginning, showing off their best moves to all the ladies who might be watching! I got a lot of good shots of him too, but had to share this cuz it's funny
You sure wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that hoof when it reaches full momentum.

Pan Am Southern train EDPL moves south on Amtrak's Springfield Line at Newington Junction with a large train for Plainville, CT. At the right of the frame is the former New Haven Railroad freight house. Once a regular occurrence, daylight Pan Am moves on the Springfield Line have become rare due to the increased train traffic from the Hartford Line commuter rail service.
Because I have a bad habit of standing in front of large, moving vehicles that could squash me like a bug. This is actually one of the smaller ones. And not really as close as it looks.
