I have this bad habit of standing in front of large, moving vehicles that could squash me like a bug. Fortunately, I also have a habit of getting out of the way.
No problem this time though. I was standing on the platform at the depot and caught the train coming around the bend so it only looks like it's heading right for me.

We were watching this Barred Owlet from a walking trail as it moved from branch to ground to branch trying to catch a squirrel. It was difficult to get a photo in the darkness of the early morning forest and the light just starting to filter through but then the owlet flew up onto a low branch directly in a ray of sunlight.
Thank you for viewing.

On Friday March 25th, it was decided to get some stored Metra equipment out of the city to better accommodate our track department as they embark on a tie project on the Elgin Sub this spring. One underutilized location is our Antioch Coach Yard, which with post-COVID schedules leaves us with some room to spare. Here's METX 11 pulling a dozen oldies north over the Fox Lake Sub diamond at Grayslake. The F40's are all older unrebuilt models that have ben pushed out of service since the coming of the Amtrak F59PHI's and were used primarily on the Union Pacific purchase of service lines.

Brown Creepers search for small insects and spiders by hitching upward in a spiral around tree trunks and limbs. They move with short, jerky motions using their stiff tails for support. To move to a new tree, they fly weakly to its base and resume climbing up.

The weekly Conrail power move from Reading to Enola approaches its destination as it crosses the Rockville Bridge. This assemblage of local power from Reading, usually predominated by former Reading SW900’s, SW1500’s, and MP15’s, could also include GP10’s, GP15-1’s and GP38’s. These locos were mostly assigned to five-day a-week jobs, and were serviced at Enola on the weekends. This day’s lineup included eight SW900’s, an MP15, a GP38-2, a GP15-1, and an outlier SD50.

For "Smile on Saturday" group theme; "On the Move".
After a brutal Alaskan winter, these toddlers from a day care center were enjoying a walk in the spring sunshine. Their whole little bodies were only as tall as the legs of the adults who accompanied them. - so, it was a very slow "on the move". HSS!
The NSSR ran a storage move yesterday using DM&IR 193 and GN 400. Missabe caboose C-205 was used as a shoving platform and became a stranded asset until the empty coal train is pulled out early next year. This was the third of four coal sets being temporally stored on the line for Detroit Edison. Duluth - 12/16/19
