You don't see many interior shots of these types of homes today. We are leaving the bathroom intact. We may replace the flooring with black marble though to upgrade it some.

Table Lamp with Nightlight
1930s Art Moderne, Modernist, Machine Aesthetic Design. Could be attributed to designer Gilbert Rohde who designed lamps for this company in the 1930s.
He designed over 35 lamps for this company and many were not documented.
Chrome (or Nickle) Plated with a Cream-colored Milk Glass Center.
Original Cloth Cord. Original Bakelight? plastic On/Off switch for the nightlight.
Adjustable shade holder with original finial.
Dimensions: 20 inches to 21 1/2 inches high; 4 1/2 diameter at the base. 9 inches high to the top of the glass/chrome base.
Weight: About 3 pounds, 14 ounces on a Postal Scale.
Condition: Mint to Very Good. All original parts (except for the shape) appear intact and in working order, including the pull chains and switch. All lamp sockets are in working order. I have not tried to clean the chrome---appears to have some minor surface issues (see photographs). Heavy base has a dull, matte finish as opposed to the chrome, banded rings at the top and the bottom of the glass center section. Original cords and interior fittings. One interior area seems to have been covered in electrical tape for safety.
Signed: M.S.L.C. D1600 on the bottom of the base.

If I were to open a business in Shelbyville, Illinois, I'm pretty sure I'd want it to be in this building. The black vitrolite and glass block are particularly snazzy, and the Longbranch Grill is right next door.
UPDATE: The Vitrolite has been replaced with some kind of tacky pressed-aluminum surface. It's awful. The building on the right is looking a lot nicer these days, though.

Amasya is one of the most beautiful towns in Turkey. Set in the narrow cleft of Yeşilırmak (Green) River, Amasya is famous for its unique natural beauty as well as for the traces of its millenary history. The main attarctions are the remains of the citadel and the rock cut tombs of the Pontus Kings (3rd century BC), the Seljuk and Ottoman histiorical mosques and medreses (13th to 15th century AD) and the well preserved traditional Turkish mansions (19th century), a fine example of the late Ottoman architecture.
Amasya is the birthplace of the famous geographer Strabon (ca. 63 BC to 25 AD). By tradition, Amasya is the place were Ottoman crown princes (şehzade) were educated and prepared to take over statecraft responsibilities before they became Sultans. As well, Amasya is an important landmark in history of the modern Turkey: it’s here were Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his faithful companions have issued and telgraphed all over the country the “Circular of Amasya”, that is considered as the first written document putting the Turkish War of Independence in motion.
Amasya este unul din cele mai frumoase oraşe din Turcia. Aşezat într-un defileu stâncos şi îngust al lui Yeşilırmak (Râul Verde), Amasya se distinge atât prin frumuseţea naturală deosebită cât şi prin vestigiile istoriei sale multimilenare. Cele mai mari atracţii sunt cetatea şi mormintele săpate în stâncă ale regilor pontici (secolul 3 î.Ch), moscheele şi seminariile teologice islamice din perioadele otomane şi selgiucide (sec. 13-15), ca şi complexul de case tradiţionale turceşti (sec. 19), minunate exemple de arhitectură otomană târzie.
Amasya este locul de naştere al faimosului geograf Strabon (ca. 63 î.Ch – 25 d.Ch). Prin tradiţie, la Amasya erau educaţi şi pregătiţi să preia responsabiltăţile statului prinţii moştenitori (şehzade) înainte de a deveni sultani. Amasya este de asemenea o piatră de hotar în istoria Turciei moderne: aici, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk şi companionii săi credincioşi au pregătit şi telegrafiat în toată ţara Circulara de la Amasya, consierată primul document scris care a pus în mişcare Războiul pentru Independenţa Turciei.

Art Deco House on Halmer Gate, Spalding. The best example of Moderne, with some streamline features, in town in my humble opinion. Strikingly beautiful. There is a purer streamline moderne house in Neville Avenue, but in spite of the pitched roof I think this one is prettier. Has now been remodelled but still looks great: bigger garage now.

Nachdem die DB die Ausschreibung des Dresdner S-Bahn Netzes gewonnen hat, kehren ein paar Veränderungen auch in das Elbtal. Die S-Bahnlinie S1 Meißen - Schöna wird auf rückspeißende Drehstromloks umgestellt. 10 der 25 Loks der Baureihe 182 von DB Schenker sollen fest nach Dresden gelangen. Doch dafür benötigen die Loks ein Nahverkehrspaket. Bis alles soweit ist helfen 145er von DB Schenker Rail auf dieser Linie aus.
