The Black-browed Barbet or Müller's Barbet (Megalaima oorti) is a bird belonging to the Asian barbet family, Megalaimidae.

It is 20-23.5 cm long. The plumage is mostly green apart from the head which is patterned with blue, yellow and red. There is a black stripe above the eye. The bill is black and the feet are grey-green. The Chinese name for the bird, "five-colored bird" (五色鳥) refers to the five colors seen on its plumage. Because of its colorful plumage and that its call resembles that of a percussion instrument known as a wooden fish, the species is also referred to as the "spotted monk of the forest" in Taiwan.

The Brown-headed Barbet, which is endemic to the Indian subcontinent, is not uncommon wherever there are trees, even in cities. Its "ku-turr, ku-turr" call is a characteristic sound of Indian woods. This bird was tending to a chick in the nest, totally oblivious of the constant stream of people walking on the path right below. This was at the District Park in Paschim Vihar (West Delhi), near my parent's apartment. It is a small island of green in an area that is now densely populated on all sides. Like other such urban parks in Delhi, it can be very rewarding to spend some time here. May 13, 2017.

this bird called Takur tumpung is the genus of Megalaima from the family Capitonidae (Horsfield, 1821), but in the website of IUCN RedList 2015 del Hoyo and Collar (2014) insert the tusks into the genus Psilopogon so that the scientific name becomes Psilopogon javensis

One of several different birds seen in a single fruit bearing tree which we sat under in the heat of the day.

The golden-whiskered barbet, a near passerine bird from Southeast Asia, is a species of Asian barbet. Like those species referred to by the common name "toucan", the golden-whiskered barbet is in the Ramphastidae family.

A Coppersmith Barbet, (Megalaima haemacephala) was found during an early morning foraging, choosing carefully the yellow ripe fruits among the green ones and I had the luck to choose him in a natural pose. Like the all natural red, green, yellow and blue colouring set up. And the light and shades on the Barbet. Pics was from Santragachi, W.B., India.
