A Coppersmith Barbet (Megalaima haemacephala) was looking curiously from close at my camouflaged presence behind my long tele in monopod. The beautiful bright Sunshine made a full justice to the colours of this beautiful bird. It looked bright and shiny with excellent red, yellow and green tones. The Bokeh on green tones rendered a perfect texture to this beautiful bird portrait. Pics was taken from Santragachii, West Bengal, India.

This species got its name because the calls is like a sound of coppersmith’s hammer. The first time I encounter this birds, it is perching high on a tree, too far for my lens. Usually can be found in scattered trees of open country, secondary growth and gardens. One need to be patient for it to comes down to lower level for a good shots. A tree with a lots of fruits got better chances to find this species. Look high up on trees in the gardens early in the morning. You might find it sitting on the top for a long period of time. This one is feasting among other species near fruiting Ficus benjamina tree. Give me ample time to focus and shot.

Clicked in the backyard. Like many other Asian Barbets, the White-cheeked Barbets are green, sit still, and perch upright, making them difficult to spot. The birds are mostly frugivorous, feeding on the fruits of various Ficus species and other introduced fruit trees. Also known to consume insects opportunistically. They play an important role in forests as seed dispersal agents. The white patch around the ear-coverts gives them their name.

台灣原稱的五色鳥在遺傳基、羽色及外觀上，都與國外其它地區的五色鳥有差異，這項研究成果因刊登在世界公認的鳥類學術期刊，中華鳥會於2009年將五色鳥從台灣特有亞種改為台灣特有種鳥類（Endemic Bird Species of Taiwan），現在一夫一妻制的五色鳥已經被正名為「台灣擬啄木」（Taiwan Barbet）。五色鳥顧名思義全身共有五種羽色，頭部與喉部有黃、紅、藍、黑色，全身為翠綠色，形成良好的保護色，棲息於原始闊葉林中，不易被發現。五色鳥的鳴聲非常獨特，彷似寺廟中和尚敲著木魚的聲音，因此俗名又稱「花和尚」。

We had a lot of difficulty photographing this species because for 2 days we had a lot of rain and fog on Mount Kinabalu. Besides, it was very cold.

Barbets are a group of near passerine birds with a worldwide tropical distribution. They get their name from the bristles which fringe their heavy bills. The golden-throated barbet is a resident breeder in the hills from northeast India east to southwestern China, Malaysia and Vietnam. It is a species of broadleaf evergreen forest from 900–2565 m altitude. It nests in a tree hole.
Takur yang ini didapati di kawasan tanah tinggi. Yang ini saya shoot ketika dia sedang makan buah hutan di Bukit Fraser. Warnanya yang hijau dan senyap tanpa sebarang bunyi menyebabkan ia sukar dilihat walaupun berada berdekatan.

Pokok Ficus benjamina yang sedang berbuah jadi tumpuan pelbagai spesis burung. Kebetulan terjumpa pokok ini dan peluang yang jarang diperolehi ini saya gunakan sepenuhnya dengan menunggu berdekatan. Dalam kiraan saya ada 13 spesis datang hinggap sepanjang saya menunggu, Takur Akar ini adalah salah satu darinya.

After almost a gap of two years , it felt amazing to be back in one of the best places in India thats a hotspot for birds. Lots of colors and the place itself is such a stress buster.

The lineated barbet is a large barbet found in the northern parts of the Indian subcontinent, along the southern foothills of the Himalayas and also in parts of Bangladesh and West Bengal. Like other barbets it is a frugivore.

Tiny but Mighty - These Coppersmith Barbets really stole the show. They're tiny, but have a big attitude. The other species around the hide clearly had a healthy respect for them. Their colors and large bill somewhat reminded me of a tiny toucan.
