Here are some photos taken of the Taiwan Barbet, also known as the Five Coloured Bird in Daan Park, Taipei, Taiwan. This bird is endemic to the island of Taiwan. When I visited the park there were several trees cordoned off to keep photographers from getting too close. The birds nest in holes in the trees and one of the pair, in this case the male flies off and brings back food. I took these photos a couple days prior to Typhoon Soudelor hitting the city. The female comes up from the nest for air and calls out to the male. The day after the typhoon I returned and sadly the tree, and of course the nest had been destroyed in the storm. I saw the male up high in a nearby tree calling out over and over, so he may have lost his mate.
A highly-cropped hand-held telephoto of this amazingly colorful bird. He was near the Biligirirangaswamy Temple in the Biligirirangaswamy Hills of Karnataka.

(Megalaima oorti), Photo was taken just before this baby bird left its nest, in a campus in Hsinchu city, Taiwan.
The Coppersmith Barbet, Crimson-breasted Barbet or Coppersmith (Megalaima haemacephala), is a bird with crimson forehead and throat which is best known for its metronomic call that has been likened to a coppersmith striking metal with a hammer. It is a resident found in South Asia and parts of Southeast Asia. Like other barbets, they chisel out a hole inside a tree to build their nest. They are mainly fruit eating but will take insects. This guy came and alighted on the bough, while I was trying out a lens. It was as if he/she wanted to be photographed. Now I know the ID.
Normally found above 600m so this was an unusual found. Maybe the rainy season forces some birds to look for food outside of their normal range?

The Coppersmith Barbet (Megalaima haemacephala), also referred to sometimes simply as coppersmith, is a barbet. Barbets are near passerine birds with a world-wide tropical distribution. They get their name from the bristles which fringe their heavy bills.
The Coppersmith Barbet is a resident breeder in India, Sri Lanka, southeast Asia and Indonesia. It is an arboreal species of open wooded country which eats fruit and insects. It nests in a tree hole, laying 2-4 eggs.
This is a relatively small barbet at 17 cm. It is a plump bird, with a short neck, large head and short tail.
The adult is mainly green above, and whitish, heavily streaked with green below. It has red forehead and breast patches and yellow patches above and below the eye and on the throat. These are separated by black. Sexes are similar, but juveniles lack the red patches.
