Zanni Mask
The character of Zanni was an older, impoverished man and hired servant of one of the other characters, typically Pantalone. Zanni's costume was loosely fitting white smock and pants. He wore traditionally a dark mask similar to his more popular descendant, Arlecchino. His behavior is a cartoon imitation of the impoverished rural folk of Bergamo who were forced to move to Venice in order to make a living. As such, his interests do not always coincide with those of his master. His primary goals are his own comfort and the satisfaction of various immediate desires.

I was originally going to paint it red and black, but decided on gold and black instead. Here it is after the gold spray paint.

This mask was made specially for me for the stereotactic radiation therapy I received last week for my two brain tomours. All went well, I have no complaints at all, and in a few week's we will know if the radiation did its job.
I'm planning to make a series of felt mask with this mask as basis.
Wow. What a mask. Incredible colors. Think it was always this colorful, traditionally? Somehow I doubt it. But, then, you never know. Especially since they're an Amazonian tribe, they probably had plenty of access to colorful birds and stuff.
Masking concept for a typeface. In this concept, letter forms are created by masking out their exterior, as if in anticipation of paint or ink.
Because the "information" of these letters is in the negative space, an intriguing oscillation of the figure to ground relationship occurs.

Feathers are a pain in the ass but also sort of fun in a way. You sort of zone out on the repetitiveness...
