Rachael playing around again with her mask. We took several different ideas and wasted an hour or so messing around.

It protects you from evil forces. Just hang one near your door, and when evil forces try to walk in they'll say: "Holy shit! That mask is SCARY! There's no way I'm going in there!"

It's true. It works.

After our workshop graduation, we were taken on a cultural tour. We dropped by Manokan Country. One of the stores there were owned by an artist. This is one of his works hanging on the wall.

Working on commissions again now that I have time. The commissioner purchased this mask from me like... back in January and has been incredibly patient as I've struggled with getting through school, family deaths, and graduation.

I'm really excited to work on this though. This video shows about six layers worth of layering already and I have no idea how many more will come but I'm sure it will be a lot! I want to get it absolutely perfect for her!

WE wear the mask that grins and lies,

It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes,—

This debt we pay to human guile;

With torn and bleeding hearts we smile,

And mouth with myriad subtleties.

Why should the world be over-wise,

In counting all our tears and sighs?

Nay, let them only see us, while

We wear the mask.

Claim: ‘Face masks don’t work’

Wearing a face mask is certainly not an iron-clad guarantee that you won’t get sick – viruses can also transmit through the eyes and tiny viral particles, known as aerosols, can penetrate masks. However, masks are effective at capturing droplets, which is a main transmission route of coronavirus, and some studies have estimated a roughly fivefold protection versus no barrier alone (although others have found lower levels of effectiveness).

If you are likely to be in close contact with someone infected, a mask cuts the chance of the disease being passed on. If you’re showing symptoms of coronavirus, or have been diagnosed, wearing a mask can also protect others. So masks are crucial for health and social care workers looking after patients and are also recommended for family members who need to care for someone who is ill – ideally both the patient and carer should have a mask.

However, masks will probably make little difference if you’re just walking around town or taking a bus so there is no need to bulk-buy a huge supply.

Another friend, Brenin here also has a dragon from his right chest stretched to his upper and lower back along with a koi fish, also a kabuki mask along his tricept I think, his family crest in the center of his upper back, japanese script place on the left side of Brenin's back, a few cherry blossoms adding some fallen petals and adding the wind bars for the final touch.

This was taken with the mask right up against the camera lens. Circles are 1/8th inch in diameter.

We're very lucky that we live near a lot of cool tech surplus shops. One thing that shows up occasionally are photolithographic masks. Way cool. Read about our coaster project here.

#32 create a mask

Brenda's craft this week was to make animal masks. The kids did a great job of decorating their masks and they looked so cute wearing them!

Jordan brought this mask home from a recent business trip to Africa.

A Zara window display at 59th Street & Lexington Avenue during a very rainy day. Those are real water droplets. I held my umbrella between my chin and shoulder while holding and aiming my camera with my hands. I have to get back to this when there aren't 40-50 mph winds and the heavens dropping oceans down on us.

This was fun!

Trent Kline, of U. South Carolina, fixes his mask. I was wondering why all his gear was this weird pale maroon color, when the Whitecaps colors are white and navy and teal, but I think it's because this is the Gamecocks team color and he's just using his gear from school.
