Our first foray into French cuisine was this steak au poivre (translation: boatloads of black peppercorns), recipe courtesy of Anthony Bourdain, via the clever cooks of Hezbollah Tofu. Thank you! Seitan cutlets were made with the recipe from the Veganomicon.
At the end, the cutlets were, as we feared, a little TOO peppery. But the sauce was excellent and this dish will definitely be repeated (with somewhat less pepper next time). Blake's mashed red potatoes really stole the show though. Dammit.
The acorn salt and pepper shakers were cute but kept falling over. If I would have thought about it I would have gotten a better picture of them.
For lunch my wife and I stopped at the Penn Cann truck stop restaurant. I had the hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes.

by 9:30 p.m., i sat down to enjoy this homemade meal, while staring into the gloom of a september evening in copenhagen.
it pleases me that the refridgerator is decently stocked. i normally don't have time to take advantage of that.

Okay, I'll admit it. I've been a snob and wouldn't go to Golden Corral. Tonight I relented. And guess what? It was really good. I'm not going to have you guess which plate was mine and which was Hadley's.

Day 324 of my 365 Project: Sometimes, there's nothing like a bowl of drive-thru mashed potatoes & gravy (with chicken and Mt Dew, of course) for a little comfort food on a cold, rainy day.
Sundy dinner was supposed to be salmon with risotto. But I was gone all day long. Sofi (9) made risotto at home with Kiah's help. And so cooked the salmon for Monday dinner with some garlic mash potatoes, some grilled asparagus and some sourdough bread. I put "Rub with Love" curry spice from Tom's on the salmon. Yummy!
This is definitely an American-style Christmas Day meal. Starting clockwise with the yellow cream corn, we enjoyed homemade yeast rolls, turkey (and not enough room for ham…yet), mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing, broccoli & cheese casserole, and (in the middle) sweet potato casserole.
On May 20, Mike was craving steak for dinner...so we headed to LongHorn Steakhouse (11102 Causeway Blvd., Brandon). We started off with a few cocktails before being seated for dinner. Mike got his steak (with a side of mashed potatoes), while I ordered the Brown Butter Lemon Tilapia & Grilled Shrimp with a baked potato. Since I'm allergic to shellfish, they kindly put the shrimp on a separate plate for Mike to enjoy. :)
