Nottingham City Transport 995 parked up at its Wollaton Avenue terminus at Gedling in September 2016. At that time, the view beyond the housing seen here was of fields and the site of former Mapperley Colliery, returned to nature. Today, a large area of the old colliery site and some of the surrounding greenery is lost to housing development.
The Scania N230UD, OmniDekka was sold to Beestons of Hadleigh, Suffolk in 2022 for further use. Since 2024, the bus has been with Mario Coach Travel of Barrowford, Nelson in Lancashire and carries an all-over silver livery.

Still showing its Stagecoach London fleetnumber 34251, it was new to Selkent.
Due to my bus from Arnold breaking down in Sherwood (991), I decided to hang on in Nottingham and wait for this to arrive in on a 25, as I passed it on Thackeray's Lane.
433 sets down at Victoria Centre with a 25 from Arnold, Mapperley and Carlton.

Clearly a NOT so ‘squirrel proof’ Squirrel Proof Bird Feeder …
This character made light work of removing the top from a bird feeder designed to prevent just such a thing from happening! Once the lid had been knocked to the ground, the Squirrel climbed inside and positioned itself at the bottom, between the outer casing and the inner wire cylinder containing peanuts. It then proceeded to dine in style in a most leisurely way, taking in the view between mouthfuls. Cheeky!
With PVR being significantly lower over the Summer due to the University of Nottingham on vacation, the Pink Solo SRs can and do regularly turn up on other routes....
351 leans into the bend from Upper Parliament Street into Milton Street with a 46 to Lambley via Mapperley, Mapperley Plains and Woodborough.
Due to roadworks on Woodborough Road, the 60 is currently diverting via Woodthrope Drive, Mansfield Road, Winchester Street and Mapperley Rise.

Whilst waiting for the 46 home, I was very surprised to find an altogether different 10 plate out on Sky Blues!!
982 unusually turns out of Queen Street with a 45 to Gedling via Mapperley!!
Having lunch in town, we noticed the short 69 plate MMC heading off out into the wilderness on Sky Blues, so ventured up to Mapperley behind it to catch up with it on it's return.
309 pulls away from Newbury Close on Mapperley Plains with a 47 to Nottingham.

With not much happening today, a shot of a winning spare was more than good enough to catch up with.
427 gives me a tick in the book on the 45, seen exiting Queen Street to Gedling via Woodborough Road and Mapperley.
From Killisick, it seems the driver's preference back to PSG is via Mapperley and Porchester Road, bringing you out on Carlton Road which takes you straight down to the garage.
636 heads down Porchester Road in Thorneywood out of service after a day on the 58.
This was my first taste of night Spotting with this camera went surprisingly well a few months ago I got a few photos before and they came out all blurred but this one just happened to be a decent shot.

Gah, the curse of low winter Sun and the clocks going forward.... In the Summer at this time, you can get excellent full Sun shots, not today however, still, one for the archives.
614 passes Mapperley Hall Drive with an 89 to Rise Park via Sherwood, City Hospital and Rise Park.
The first day of service for the biogas Lilac E400 Cities occurred today, with three branded examples out (419-21) and a spare (426), alongside four of the 04 plate OmniDekkas!!
420 is seen on it's first day in traffic with a 25 to Arnold via Carlton, Gedling and Mapperley.
The centre of the universe apparently, Norwich Gardens turning circle currently sees eight buses an hour, a massive increase from the L14 which was the only service for a while!!
922 sits in the turning circle with a Shopper S11 to Mapperley, with 364 on a 70 to Nottingham via Basford and 973 on a Locallink L14 also off to Nottingham the longer way via City Hospital and Hyson Green.
O4/3 2-8-0 no. 63735 drifts into the cutting leading to the west end of Mapperley tunnel on the ex. GNR line from Colwick Yard to Basford and Derby. The train is made up of empty iron ore tipplers probably headed for the yard at Colwick and then on to the mines in the Vale of Belvoir. September 1958.
This location is now much changed. The tunnel was closed to all traffic in 1960 and all the land seen in the view has been covered with housing, although a portion of the deep cutting leading to the tunnel stll remains.

Due to remembrance service at Mapperley Shops, the 60/1 were diverted via Mapperley Rise, Winchester Street, Mansfield Road, Thackeray's Lane, Arno Vale Road, Somersby Road and Plains Road.
344 was seen on Mansfield Road whilst on the 61 towards Nottingham.
Now sporting the 'Sparkly new Gas Buses coming soon!' banners, the end is nigh for the 10 plate OmniDekkas on the 45.
These kickstarted the Sky Blue brand back in 2010. Prior to September 2010, this was a GO2 Red service, as the 44 and 45 were circular, the 45 running the route as now to Gedling, but continuing as the 44 route to Nottingham, the old 44 doing the reverse.....
995 spends some of it's final weeks in Sky Blue, pictured in the Sun at Wollaton Avenue Turning Circle waiting to do the next 45 to Nottingham via Mapperley and Woodborough Road.
One of my favourite locations on the 61 route happens to have a decent layby next to it, so loitered in the car for the next one to emerge in the distance....
279 makes the long climb up Lingwood Lane with a 61 to Nottingham via Lambley, Mapperley Plains and Mapperley.
Following 421 in quick succession was yet another winning 25B!!
422 passes Redland Grove in Gedling with a 25B to Mapperley.

On Sunday late afternoon and evening, all buses only run between Nottingham, Carlton and Mapperley, running every 30 minutes with two buses.
425 is one half of the service today, seen approaching Victoria Centre with the display reset for the next trip on the 25B to Mapperley.
After being being blocked of a shot of 669 on the Calverton I want that confident of getting of getting a shot of 252 ten minutes late. A car tried it's bast to get in the way but luckily I was able to get it.
Nottingham City Transport Yutong E10 252 (YH24MFE) Is seen on Bonner Lane working on Sky Blue Line 61 to Calverton via Mapperley, Woodborough and Lambley.
It does looks as "just typical" two come at once, but one turns into the loop and goes to city via Mapperley, the other goes straight and into the city via Netherfield. Shot taken on Wollaton Ave. Scania Omidekka 674 taking the Netherfield route.
Having finished work an hour early (thanks Jayne!!), it gave me the opportunity to go home the long way round, via the 44 to Gedling, which connected with the 45 to Woodborough Road, then all I needed to do was walk down Mapperley Rise back to Sherwood. Worth it.
