Although Cardale Road is only normally served by GO2 Night N27, it sits well between two excellent networks...

On the Sneinton Dale side, the 43 runs every 7/8 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime, and on the Carlton Road side, there's a bus to Nottingham or Carlton every 5 minutes on the 24-27 services, every 20 minutes to Mapperley and Arnold on the 25, and Burton Joyce, Lowdham and Southwell every 30 minutes on the 100!!

607 is seen having just turned into Cardale Road from Carlton Road with the sprawling Thorneywood in the distance with a 43 to Bakersfield.

Due to the ongoing Woodborough Road closure by Severn Trent for emergency repairs near Hungerhill Road, the 61 has been diverted down roads I'm unsure have ever been used before??

Leaving Nottingham, buses are running up Mansfield Road, down to Clarendon Island, right onto Redcliffe Road, left onto Mapperley Road, to resume on Woodborough Road at Alexandra Court.

279 rounds Redcliffe Road with an off-route 61 to Calverton via Mapperley, Lambley and Woodborough.

The 25 has been diverted for the last few weeks due to gasworks on Nottingham Road via Arnot Hill Road to rejoin the normal route at the roundabout on Thackeray's Lane.

737 heads over the bridge on Arnot Hill Road with an off route 25 to Nottingham via Mapperley, Gedling and Carlton.

Relatively new routes to the Nottingham empire are the 46 and 47 which fall under the Sky Blue services, strengthening the brand from one service (45) to three, the two routes added to the roster following the collapse of Premiere in January.

The 46 operates hourly during the day between Arnold and Nottingham, via Coppice Road, Mapperley Plains and Mapperley Shops, whilst the 47 runs from Calverton to Nottingham via Woodborough, Lambley and Mapperley Shops every 30 minutes Monday to Friday peak times, then hourly for the rest of the day.

As the branded buses aren't yet ready to hit the roads, the spare buses are still keeping the show going....

353 climbs Bonner Hill with a 47 to Nottingham via Woodborough and Lambley. It's worth pointing out that at this moment in time, the destination equipment hasn't been updated to include the new services, most of the runs being covered by roller-blind Solos, hence this driver using the only Sky Blue service he could find. Fair play.

In 1970 seventeen Leyland PDR1A/1/Northern Counties H47/30D buses entered service with Nottingham City Transport. The batch was 523 - 539 (STO 523 - 539H). My collection doesn't include views of 523, 524, 526 or 530, but here is a selection of scanned images of the buses I did manage to catch with my camera. These were the first NCT buses to it's standard New Bus Grant specification which featured on subsequent Fleetline (ETO xxxL) and AN68 chassis (OTO xxxM) from 1973.

Having left Dan at Mapperley Plains, I caught this back on the 56 as far as Killisick, and seeing the sky the colour it was, I bailed early....

902 pulls up to Hinsley Close on Coppice Road underneath a fantastic sunset with the last City-bound 56 of the day via Plains Estate, Daybrook and Sherwood.

After walking from Colwick to the infill just beyond the middle air shaft in the tunnel on Saturday 27th March 1971 we returned to the first bridge east of the tunnel where I took this photo.

After discovering it's existence in a small publication "The Railways of Nottingham" three friends and I set out to explore 'The Back Line' on Saturday 27th March 1971.

The eastern portal comes into view.

434 is seen on queen street operating a 60 to Chase Farm via Woodborough road and Mapperley Shops

After making good time into Arnold from the 87, I thought I'd hang fire to see what was due for Nottingham, and got something a little different....

518 departs Arnold High Street deputising for an 04 plate OmniDekka on the 25 to Nottingham via Mapperley and Carlton.

Woodthorpe and Mapperley Skyline.

Fresh out of it's Poppy vinyls, I'm amazed how long it lasted compared to previous years!!

698 turns into Upper Parliament Street, bringing in a 45 from Gedling and Mapperley.

On a new Nottinghamshire emergency contract, there were three types of coach seats, with four different moquete coverings, including some near the rear having arm rests. The rear bench seat had two additional moquete designs.

Although there was a ticket machine fitted, fares were recorded on a pad of paper.

New as Preston Bus 14.

What a suprise, 471 made an appearance on the 60.

471 is seen at chase farm, on a 60 to nottingham Via Mapperley and Woodborough Road.

First day of operation of the Biogas buses on Sky Blue 45. Bus 440 at Mapperley shops

At peak time Monday to Friday mornings, in order to provide a frequent service towards Nottingham, every other bus leaves Nottingham out of service to either Mapperley or Arnold.

741 is seen passing the Peugeot garage on Mansfield Road in Carrington out of service to Arnold.

Starting life back in October 2001 on GO2 Lilac 21 between Carlton Valley, Thorneywood, St. Ann's and Nottingham, it was nice to see it back on it's original turf, albeit a different route!!

134 climbs up Gordon Road in Thorneywood with an L9 to Bestwood Park via Mapperley, Sherwood and Arnold.

After a hard day's graft on the busy Woodborough Road corridor, it's an early night for this one, having been out since 0440 on the first 60 of the day.

440 returns to Parliament Street Garage out of service on Plains Road in Mapperley.

Having ran in on a peak time 25 from Mapperley, it's a case of running back out of the City out service to restart another 25 to head back in to the City, this time from Arnold on a full trip however.

423 passes Victoria Centre out of service.

Hopperbus 25B to Mapperley, anyone??

539 waits time at Humanities on the University of Nottingham Campus with a 903 to Jubilee Campus via East Drive.

The 61 is an excellent route operated by Nottingham City Transport, offering buses every 30 minutes from Calverton to Nottingham on the more scenic route via Woodborough, Lambley and Mapperley using a trio of Sky Blue Yutong E10s.

279 is seen on the long, steep climb out of Calverton with a 61 back to Nottingham. Whilst I love the colour coded displays, as it's an out of City route, I think Nottingham City Centre would look much smarter and in line with the 1 and 26.

Well, I've got the old style 59 plate on the 45, may as well have the new style to compliment it!!

976 rumbles down Upper Parliament Street having just set off from King Street with a 45 to Gedling via Woodborough Road and Mapperley.

An early start allowed me to snap a few 56s off route before a full day at work.

Ramsey Drive is currently out of action for emergency work to be carried out, seeing the 56 and 57 diverted via Mapperley Plains.

Grabbing the opportunities to photograph OmniDekkas on the 24/25/26 whilst I can, before the gas invasion takes place, a new style one had to make the cut!!

976 climbs Carlton Road with a 25 to Arnold via Carlton, Gedling and Mapperley.

Attempting to catch up with all the old OmniDekka spares is proving a challenge, especially on some of the more modern decker routes like the 45, which tend to see the 10/11 plate spares when required.

745 however made an appearance today, seen departing Queen Street with a 45 to Gedling via Woodborough Road and Mapperley.

As Yourbus wait for the University Hopper Buses to arrive, following the collapse of Premiere Travel, they were forced to use their own vehicles to stand it whilst they waited for the branded Hopper Buses to arrive.

This vehicle was later branded for the contracted Y59 service that runs from Derby to Ilkeston via Mapperley.

The model I've only just bought so I can't say I know too much about it yet, except its a Britbus model of Scania N113 with Alexander R bodywork number 376 on route 5C to Gedling via Mapperley. Sky blue line 45 which does Gedling via Mapperley nowadays, but before sky blue line existed the 45 was a red line route. This model has an opening engine door.

An oddball here is Red1 branded E200 waiting to head back to Nottingham on a Red7.2 via Gedling and Mapperley. Believed to be an ex Demonstrator and purchased via a dealership??

Laying over between Ilkeston Town duties on the 12 and 13, these obscure little routes operate out to Cotmanhay via more of the back streets (12) and Mapperley Village via the Newdigate Arms (13).
