From the hide in Mapperley wood.
I was tempted to crop down to just the bird but rather liked the way the pose of the bird mimics the shape of the trunk.
Near to the Mapperley wood hide and well protected by stinging nettles........
This one was about 4 cms across, and was near to a much larger and flatter one that was not as photogenic as it had been partially eaten by something. I wonder if that something is now happily tripping.......
AKA Rosy Starling, a scarce passage migrant, they spend most of the year in Eastern Europe and Asia, only occasionally making a visit to Western Europe and the UK.
Had been around since the 5th June, but this was the last day of sighting.
Mapperley, Nottingham
With sky replacement (but still Nottinghamshire) using Photoshop. The map location shows the tree taken from a public footpath on the outskirts of Oxton (28th February) with the sky captured in Mapperley Plains at sunrise of the 23rd of February (see post 2 photos ago).

I would normally photograph bluebells as part of a specific targeted session, as opposed to snatched shots while on a walk with my wife in Shipley Country Park. However, I had a little more time than usual on this occasion as she also managed to get some good shots on her phone. Within a 10 minute window, I had far better shots than I could possibly have expected prior to the walk.
