Presumably due to a Yutong E12 259 experiencing issues, Navy Solo Sr 347 was drafted in to work on the 40X for the day so I went to St Ann's to see it.
Nottingham City Transport Optare Solo Sr 347 (YJ61CGO) is pictured at Robin Hood Chase unusually working on the 16:02 Blue Line 40X from the City Hospital to Queen Street via Sherwood Shops, Mapperley and St Ann's.
Meet Ellie, the Electric Bus!! The bus was on display in Nottingham's Old Market Square the previous day, to get youngsters involved in greener travel around Nottingham.
954 winds round Mapperley Rise with a Locallink 8 to the flats behind the bus (It is a circular service of a fashion) via Mapperley and Sherwood. In the fourteen months these have been on the roads of Nottingham, I've never even seen this one out!!
When it was constructed, Mapperley Tunnel was 1132 yards long and as it was built dead straight, you could see one end from the other. Thanks to problems with subsidence caused by the area's mining history, the northernmost half of the tunnel has been completely backfilled. However, just before the backfill is the tunnel's central ventilation shaft.
Light is no longer able to pour down this shaft thanks to people throwing their rubbish down into the tunnel. The sheer volume of junk that has been launched down here has created this awesome tower of waste. If this pile was located in an art gallery as opposed to at the back of a drippy, old railway tunnel, I get the feeling it'd be respected by all those people who like to see small red squares on an otherwise blank canvas.
Overall, Mapperley Tunnel made for great explore. Although it's largely samey throughout, there are some great features to locate. These include the disastrous southern portal, the iron bracing that's been installed to strengthen the arch, the open ventilation shaft and this massive pile of junk that waits for you at the furthest most point you can reach. In terms of photography, the spalled brickwork means there are plenty of colours and textures to bring out of the darkness.
The all new Sky Blue Line 61 is here, taking over from the 46 and 47 which terminated at Lambley and Woodborough. The 61 now continues to Calverton providing an every 30 minute service via Woodborough and Lambley.
Nottingham City Transport Optare Solo Sr 354 (YJ12GYN) is pictured on Bonner Hill powering away from Calverton operating a 61 to Parliament Street via Lanbley, Woodborough and Mapperley.
Due to Breck Hill Road being closed the 25 was diverted via Mansfield Road and Woodthorpe Drive. 464 is seen on Woodthorpe Drive on a 25 to Nottingham via Mapperley and Carlton
Before a doctors appointment I found the time to head to St Ann's to catch a rare allocation, sadly badly parked cars prevented me from getting the shot I wanted but this didn't turn out bad.
Nottingham City Transport Yutong E12 212 (YD73FSV) is seen on running 12 minutes late whilst working on Blue Line 40 to Queen Street via Sherwood Shops, Mapperley, St Ann's and Thorneywood.
Whilst walking to work, the Trent Bridge random allocating machine must've been in use, as a Blue SR was out on Sky Blues.
340 queues on Upper Parliament Street having just set off with a 46 to Lambley via Mapperley, Mapperley Plains and Woodborough.
Nottingham Minibus Y251FJN Dennis Dart SLF Alexander B28F at Netherfield Morrisons terminus of service 73 to Mapperley on 23 February 2013.
Still showing its Stagecoach London fleetnumber 34251, it was new to Selkent.
Back on home turf, this one actually started out in the batch of fifteen GO2 Reds 673-687 in June 2005, replacing a motley allocation of Dennis Tridents.
Back then though, the routes were circular, with the 44 running Nottingham to Nottingham via Sneinton, Colwick, Netherfield, Gedling, Mapperley and Woodborough Road, the 45 the opposite way round.
676 makes a return to the 44, seen crossing Carlton Station Level Crossing towards Colwick and Nottingham.
I just so happend to be in the right place at the right time for this shot as the sun was going down I quickly got my camera out and waited for a bus to come.

Nottingham 399 (A399 CRA), one of two East Lancs bodied Volvo Citybuses, is seen here in the City Centre working route 51 to Mapperley.
When I snapped this whilst walking to work this morning, I never expected to be catching it 14.5 hours later after it's morning part run!!
This bus has had an incredibly varied day today, doing the 53B and 46 this morning, before coming back out this afternoon to do the peak time extra 30s and 28, before spending the rest of the night on it's home turf, the 9, 8, 7 and 7B!!
302 passes the Asiana Hypermarket on Woodborough Road with the morning extra 46 to Lambley via Mapperley, Mapperley Plains and Woodborough.
Although Woodborough Road is only a B road, it's still one of the busiest corridors in and out of Nottingham, so air quality can't be too good.... At least the buses are green (well, underneath at least) to try and combat part of the problem....
436 passes Gorsey Road on Woodborough Road with a 45 to Gedling via Mapperley.
As I fancied a full run on the 24 out to Westdale Lane, I noticed this E400 on the app sat at Chase Farm.
As luck would have it, this was due through two minutes before a 25 was due to take me back to Arnold without the need to go into Nottingham and back out again, result!!
629 waits for a gap in the traffic at the junction of Holyoake Road and Westdale Lane in Gedling with a 45 to Nottingham via Mapperley and Woodborough Road.
As a route, the 25 is probably one of my favourites, I'll gladly catch it from Nottingham to mine from time to time, even more so these days as the 04s don't exactly have long left on there...
940 covers for one of the 04 Lilac OmniDekkas, seen loading at Arnold High Street with a 25 to Nottingham via Daybrook, Mapperley and Carlton.
Moments behind 533 on the 58X, the first of the trio documented with the updated Sky Blue 60 branding emerged.
From tomorrow, the 45 is renumbered to 60 to free up the cluttered 40-series route numbers. I have a feeling the 50 will become the new 45 in due course.
438 turns into Milton Street with a 45 to Chase Farm via Woodborough Road, Mapperley and Gedling.
Some of the only vehicles that have been sold from FirstBus were these Solos from Scotland, originating from Glasgow as 40847.

Although Cardale Road is only normally served by GO2 Night N27, it sits well between two excellent networks...
On the Sneinton Dale side, the 43 runs every 7/8 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime, and on the Carlton Road side, there's a bus to Nottingham or Carlton every 5 minutes on the 24-27 services, every 20 minutes to Mapperley and Arnold on the 25, and Burton Joyce, Lowdham and Southwell every 30 minutes on the 100!!

Leaving Nottingham, buses are running up Mansfield Road, down to Clarendon Island, right onto Redcliffe Road, left onto Mapperley Road, to resume on Woodborough Road at Alexandra Court.

Relatively new routes to the Nottingham empire are the 46 and 47 which fall under the Sky Blue services, strengthening the brand from one service (45) to three, the two routes added to the roster following the collapse of Premiere in January.
The 46 operates hourly during the day between Arnold and Nottingham, via Coppice Road, Mapperley Plains and Mapperley Shops, whilst the 47 runs from Calverton to Nottingham via Woodborough, Lambley and Mapperley Shops every 30 minutes Monday to Friday peak times, then hourly for the rest of the day.
As the branded buses aren't yet ready to hit the roads, the spare buses are still keeping the show going....
353 climbs Bonner Hill with a 47 to Nottingham via Woodborough and Lambley. It's worth pointing out that at this moment in time, the destination equipment hasn't been updated to include the new services, most of the runs being covered by roller-blind Solos, hence this driver using the only Sky Blue service he could find. Fair play.
In 1970 seventeen Leyland PDR1A/1/Northern Counties H47/30D buses entered service with Nottingham City Transport. The batch was 523 - 539 (STO 523 - 539H). My collection doesn't include views of 523, 524, 526 or 530, but here is a selection of scanned images of the buses I did manage to catch with my camera. These were the first NCT buses to it's standard New Bus Grant specification which featured on subsequent Fleetline (ETO xxxL) and AN68 chassis (OTO xxxM) from 1973.

After making good time into Arnold from the 87, I thought I'd hang fire to see what was due for Nottingham, and got something a little different....

Starting life back in October 2001 on GO2 Lilac 21 between Carlton Valley, Thorneywood, St. Ann's and Nottingham, it was nice to see it back on it's original turf, albeit a different route!!
