Two former stablemates once again side by side!!
992 departs Plains Estate Darlton Drive Terminus with a 57 back to Nottingham via Arno Vale, Daybrook and Sherwood whilst YN05WFW waits to go back to Carlton on the afternoon 910 via Mapperley and Gedling.
A new short working from Arnold to Gedling, anyone??
420 leaves Arnold Front Street on a 25 to Nottingham via Mapperley, Gedling and Carlton. I'm not complaining though, I've not snapped this one on a 24 yet with the revised routes on the side...
Whilst on my way to work this morning, I was lucky enough to catch up with my first Lime 22 plate out of service.
537 is pictured on Mapperley Plains ready for a busy day on it's usual corridor, kicking off with the 0823 58 from Killisick to Nottingham.
Long tailed Tit / aegithalos caudatus. Mapperley Wood, Derbyshire. 01/02/17.
I wish I had a quarter of as much energy as a Long tailed Tit has!
Their energy levels appear boundless. Forever upbeat, 'glass half full' little birds, they spend a lifetime effortlessly flitting and bouncing around. Nice that this one paused for a little contemplation, enough time to make an image.
Whilst Gedling Road/Mapperley Plains crossroads are out of action after 8pm, the diversionary route allows for some impressive photos if you're willing to do some walking....
377 is seen pictured climbing Somersby Road off route with a 47 to Nottingham via Mapperley.
After a hard day's graft on the busy Woodborough Road corridor, it's an early night for this one, having been out since 0440 on the first 60 of the day.
440 returns to Parliament Street Garage out of service on Plains Road in Mapperley.
Young Grey Squirrel / sciurus carolinensis. Mapperley Wood, Derbyshire. 28/01/19.
'CHANCING A NOSE OVER THE PARAPET.'
I think this is probably a young one, perhaps from late summer 2018. It was noticeably smaller and acted submissively to others on site. It spent a lot of time in postures like this one, peeping cautiously at the whereabouts or activities of more mature animals.
Waiting for it to return an hour later on the first 25B of the afternoon, I thouught it made sense to get both at the same time just in case it doesn't happen again for a long time...
500 heads up Westdale Lane with a 25B to Mapperley.
Whilst the 56 is diverting non-stop via Mapperley Shops, it made sense to head up there on a Sunday afternoon when there's not as much traffic, even less today as a lot of people were watching Forest at Wembley....
537 is pictured off route at Mapperley Shops with a 56 to Nottingham via Sherwood.
Hoping this was a 19 plate as I've not documented any yet on the route, luckily it still wins for updated vinyls anyway....
425 leaves Arnold behind on a 25 to Nottingham via Mapperley, Gedling and Carlton.
Since the 50 runs with midis on Saturday, 500 made an appearance on a different route, today making an appearance on Lilacs.
500 loads up on King Street on Lilac Line 25 to Arnold via Carlton, Westdale Lane and Mapperley.
This fare promotion on until the end of June even got me venturing out on the further network after work, enjoying a £2 single out to Lambley which is normally £3.60.
337 is seen at the edge of Lambley with Lambley Dumble flowing alongside the bus with a 47 to Nottingham via Woodborough, Mapperley Plains and Mapperley.
Back after a short break away - catching up as much as I can!
Background a bit too fussy for my liking, but I've never previously managed to get a shot of one that's not flying away!
Another of the shots from Mapperley wood hide the other week
A pleasant sight to see, one of the six cylinder full length E200s had been out all day on the 47 in place of a branded four cylinder short E200.
388 loads up a peak time 46 to Lambley via Mapperley, Mapperley Plains and Woodborough.
Not just Navy OmniDekkas displaced, the three unbranded E400s are playing an important part too!!
639 sits in the queue on Upper Parliament Street with a 60 to Chase Farm via Woodborough Road, Mapperley and Gedling.
Long-tailed Tit / aegithalos caudatus. Mapperley Wood, Derbyshire. 14/01/15. Another image I've come across from my time with some LTT's in January.
On what's normally a busy corridor seeing a bus every 7 minutes Monday to Satruday daytime, it's been really weird seeing the 45 only running half hourly but coping fine even with that!! In the evenings, the service has still ran, but to an hourly frequency, this being beefed up by the 25B which was also running hourly to Westdale Lane and Mapperley.
427 reaches the top of the summit on Woodborough Road with an early morning 45 to Gedling via Mapperley.
Another nail in the green spare coffin, gone is the peeling Baumot allover advert and green front in place of the much more up to date spare livery. The photo doesn't do it justice, but it is gleaming!!
375 passes Brookfields Garden Centre at Mapperley Plains with a 47 to Nottingham via Mapperley.
19th March 1986, Stanton Gate.
58025 passes the remains of the Up Yard. The size of these sidings, so close to Toton, gives an indication of how much traffic came to and from Stanton iron works, and the collieries along the Mapperley and Shipley branches.
A trip up to Gedling saw me photo the Omnidekka's on the 60.
928 is one of them, seen at chase farm, 928 is going back to city via mapperley shops, Westdale Lane and Woodborough Road.
Here's a vehicle number of Bulwell's past!! Back in the mid 90s, the Atlantean of that number would've been a regular traipsing up and down here on the 85 between Lady Bay, Nottingham and Hempshill Vale....
420 these days however gets a change of scenery from Carlton and Mapperley, pictured passing Northern Cemetery on the edge of Hempshill Vale with an A1 to Basford via Snape Wood, Bulwell and Highbury Vale.
At last, my first catch of an NCT Demo!!
999, registered as LC71EFE, has returned to the streets of Nottingham to trail for Nottingham City Transport (again!). I must admit, I am a fan of these vehicles. Hopefully, the company will introduce them as part of their electric single decker fleet in 2023!!
999 passes down Woodborough Road with a 46 to Nottingham from Lambley and Woodborough via Mapperley Plains and Mapperley.
My ride from Nottingham was the sole branded short wheelbase E200 left in the NCT fleet for a run out to Lambley the longer way round via Woodborough.
386 is pictured at Ross Lane in Lambley with a 46 to Nottingham via Mapperley Plains and Mapperley.

A couple more from the pre-Christmas trip to Mapperley Wood DWT Reserve.
As always, thanks for looking :)
Tipped into the city's 1939 Official Handbook is this folding plate that shows the Transport Department's motor omnibus and trolleybus route map. Nottingham, originally a tram operator since 1897, had like many other undertakings chosen to look to replace the first generation tramway system with more flexible and 'modern' means of transport duringt he late 1920s and early 1930s. The city's first trolleybuses ran in 1927 and although there was early enthusiasm for a complete changeover from one form of electric traction to another, the council seems to have increasingly hedged their bets as the technology of motor buses improved dramatically during the '30s. Nevertheless other trolleybus routes followed - however the last two tram route abandonments, including the final service to Mapperley, saw conversion complete by September 1935.
This map therefore shows the municipal trolleybus system at its fullest extent - but not all trolleybus routes int he city. The privately owned Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Tramways Company, an almost inter-urban affair, unusually decided to convert its lengthy route to Ripley from tram to trolleybus between 1931 and 1933. This connected with the City system at Cinderhill (route 41) and took a more direct trajectory into the city centre. Nottingham's system lasted until 1966, the company's offering having been replaced by motorbuses in 1953.
Mention should also be made of another 'missing link' on this map - the strongly independent and neighbouring West Bridgford Urban District Council who, slighly unusually for a UDC, had its own Transport undertaking than ran buses from 1914 until being sold to Nottingham in 1968. Competition from private operators in the 1920s had forced Nottingham and West Bridgford to agree to joint operation of routes across Trent Bridge and these appear on the map as services 11 - 15 and 24.
In recent years Nottingham has been one of the most succesful UK cities in reintroducing a tramway system - here's hoping it lasts longer than the 39 years both the first generation tram system and trolleybus network lasted!
My partner was in the area after I finished work, so she told me to make my way over to Woodborough Road and she'd pick me up. Whilst heading over that way I found a spare on the 45 I needed.
426 leaves Nottingham on a 45 to Gedling via Woodborough Road and Mapperley.
Whilst waiting for a new 27, a required Biogas spare became the test shot on the 25.
431 climbs Carlton Road with a 25 to Arnold via Carlton, Gedling and Mapperley.
European Robin / erithacus rubecula. Mapperley Wood, Derbyshire. 25/01/17.
Image made in a local wood just as the light was beginning to fade. Some small birds seem to melt into the environment and only reveal their presence by tiny movements that catch your eye. So it was with this Robin who was looking for food prior to going to roost.
Due to remembrance service at Mapperley Shops, the 60/1 were diverted via Mapperley Rise, Winchester Street, Mansfield Road, Thackeray's Lane, Arno Vale Road, Somersby Road and Plains Road.
662 was seen on Winchester Street whilst on the 60 towards Gedling.
A chance encounter on my lunch saw me catch up with a spare 63 plate on the 45. These make more appearances now than they used to, however they’re still not exactly common either.
605 turns into King Street with a 45 from Gedling, Mapperley and Mapperley Park.
Works for the new Gedling Access Road.

With daylight rapidly finishig by 4pm now, this was the first 25B of the afternoon.... Just a few weeks ago it was light!! Oh well, just four weeks to go and we get a little bit more daylight every day!!
420 plies it's trade at Victoria Centre with a 25B to Mapperley via Carlton and Gedling.
New decade, new daily photo project!
2011 included a relationship, frequent international travel, and lots of time spent at the theatre.
2021? Dunno, might go back to work at some point, might even be allowed to visit a neighbouring county eventually.
Until then, under these new Tier 4 restrictions, I guess I’ll just be making a lot of “New Topographics”-inspired studies of the local area during my permitted daily exercise.
I always like to be up bright and early on New Year’s Day, and apparently I’m not the only one.

It appears someone got their wires crossed today, with 473 appearing on the 45 and 437 going on the 89. Remarkably they both lasted all day without being swapped too!!
473 exits Queen Street unusually with a 45 to Gedling via Woodborough Road and Mapperley.
One of a pair of ex-Stagecoach London short-wheelbase ALX200 Darts acquired, these are to be used on the 73, 73A and 74, where low floor buses have been specified.
Y251FJN was new to Stagecoach Selkent in 2001, seen looking somewhat shabby still in London allover red whilst waiting time at Mapperley Shops with a 73 to Netherfield Morrison's via Gedling, Carlton Valley and Carlton.
