I stitched heavily on heavyweight Pelmet Vilene for this sample.
The inspiration was a line drawing I did of a model at Life Drawing Class
Made with leftover fabric scraps from a previous project, vintage buttons and emellished with some decorative machine stitches. See blog for further details. thesewingattic.blogspot.com/2011/03/getting-organised.html
Batik background with silk piping, outer border, and backing. Machine embroidery. Embroidery design "song birds" by Anita Goodesign
Everyone needs a bag to keep their "Stuff" in. I made this using the font KnitfontA. I really liked the look of this font and how it turned out as embroidery.
You'll never guess what I used for the silver applique material....The plastic sealing foil thingie that comes on top of my Safari brand coffee container to seal it! (I can't resist saving anything shiny...)
This embroidery file is FREE at my blog!

An embroidered Blue Bird, matches perfectly with different 'Dutch' cotton fabrics. The bag itself is made from fake fur: soft but sturdy. Available in my Etsy-shop: www.etsy.com/shop/justdo
I used the Baroque Punk phoenix from Urban Threads as the basis for this, adding the ring and arrow to create a stylized mockingjay (from The Hunger Games).
I love the Mockingjay/Girl on Fire concept mash-up. I've been thinking about this idea since I read Hunger Games, but finally figured out my digitizing software sufficiently to execute it effectively.
It's stitched on a heavy white twill, destined to be made into a cover for my serger. (And I'll prob figure out other ways to use it as it's one of my favorites.)
Detail of machine embroidered flash card for And stitches back to school stitchalong. Picture of my youngest son using shadows. Stitched with Sylko machine thread (36 weight) on to a linen canvas, which was then mounted on to a coarser linen canvas backed with woven iron on interfacing. This flash card is part of a pair, the other one being of his elder brother.
