This is a very small book - a three page concertina book made out of watercolour paper.

I ran out of time and not ideas. It has to be shown at my Book Arts Group which meets tomorrow and I left it until the last minute. Typical!

On this page I have created a bound seam which has an overlay of "faux" faggoting using free machine embroidery.

I used a design from an old sketch book: it comes originally, I think, from a cracked pavement in Stropkov, Slovakia and I converted this into a design which I've used several times.

It looks like a colorful zebra print flower.

The flower is from the book Aunt Millie's garden. I digitized it today and used my Scan N Cut to cut the fabric pieces for machine embroidery. The photo was rotated and cropped in Photoshop Elements.

All of that sounds like I know what I am doing, but mostly I am figuring it out as I go along.

I love this embroidered font! I found a font online called 'speedball'. Once digitized, I thought it would be perfect for boys.

I hope my nephew loves it. He's in kindergarten and a cutey.

Haven't tacked down the ribbon yet. Debated, but only ran the embroidery once (on tough things I sometimes do twice for better coverage). This does not have puff foam. Pretty happy with it. Urban Threads design, eBay hat.

The project idea for this was to take our designs and see how well we could incorporate them into a full fashion jacket, and somehow (not surprisingly) that turned into a full-on heavy stitched steampunk project!

This stitched piece was a gift from my friend Lesley Brankin and was intended as a landscape but when I rotated the image it was just what I wanted for Easter Sunday with the cross and the tomb.

Lesley gave me her blessing to show it in this format.
