Found this photo the other day while browsing in some old files. Taken on a trip to Africa. This family had just been given the sewing machine. They seemed totally stunned. I guess in the scheme of things it was like winning the lottery - they kept acting as if we would take it away again. Gorgeous kids. Awesome part of the world. By far and away some of the generous spirited people i've ever met.
Machine embroidered flash card for And stitches back to school stitchalong. Picture of my eldest son using shadows. Stitched with Sylko machine thread (36 weight) on to a linen canvas, which was then mounted on to a coarser linen canvas backed with woven iron on interfacing. This flash card is part of a pair, the other one being of his younger brother.
And this is the last falls of the spring, called the Washing Machine, that water you can get back up underneath and or let it fall on your shoulders and get a nice refreshing massage.
Students kick off the beginning of their ENGS 76: Machine Engineering course with some introductory tinkering in the Couch Lab.
