I bought this machine at Goodwill today for $3.50!! It was in a case also. It is pretty dirt and is missing the bobbin case, but it powered up and the light works. It will need a god bath and a new belt and then I'll test it out! I love the color!

FLYING-MACHINE

Patented Apr. 25, 1916.

Application filed May 5, 1915. Serial No. 26,116.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES D. LANSING, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ashtabula, in the county of Ashtabula and State of Ohio, have invented new and useful Improvements in Flying-Machines, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to flying machines, and one of its objects is to provide a machine which is adapted for directly ascending and descending without gliding action, which may be caused to hover or remain stationary in the air over any given point on the earth or water below, and which may he landed at any given speed.

A further object of the invention is to provide a flying machine of the helicopter type wherein the lifting and sustaining propellers are arranged to operate in such manner as to render the machine inherently self balancing.

A further object of the invention is to provide a machine in which a driving propeller of the tractor type is employed,-which may be adjusted to steer the machine laterally in either direction, and also admits of stopping and backing the machine while suspended in the air.

La Machine on the Saturday. The morning turned out to be a little disappointing. A few thousand people turned out to hear some music. La Princesse didn’t do anything but sit there in the fake snow. Nice to look at but a shame for those people. Later she did wake up and went for a walk around town. I originally planned to be in the crowd but I came out the station on Water St and the crowd was insane. I didn’t like the idea of battling through to get a few quick photos so I was able to get on top of the town hall. From there the view of the crowd was simply insane.

Mystery bores me. It chores me. I know what happens and so do you. It's the machine nations that wheel us there that aggravate, perplex, interest, and astound me. There are many things to think of. There is much story."

Yeah, damn, this picture could have used some cropping on the left. Hhhmm. Well, too late now. (Eh.)

Anyway: bubble gum machines rule!!! Ok, they did when I was still a child.. What's funny/weird is that lately, I've discovered lots of them around in the district where my workplace is. (And I find it weird because I didn't think that lots of people were still using them.. but apparently they are. ??!?!)

The sewing machines in AllSaints are a testimonial to times gone by in Seattle. Prostitution was illegal and when women were queried by the census takers, the common profession was "seamstress". In the early days of this frontier port city, there were a lot of seamstresses.
