These sheep lined up to watch me as I ambled along Portencross Road this afternoon. I never realised that I was that interesting.

SEPTA Norristown Highspeed Line (former Philadelphia & Western interurban), Brill "Bullet" departing Bridgeport, 10-16-89. An older "Strafford" car out on a training run is seen on the siding next to the station, preparing to follow behind.
We encountered this guy in Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, Madagascar. Belongs to the subfamily Lymantriinae of the Erebidae moths. The adult moth does not feed, so this larva eats all the more and can be quite destructive.
A 5 second long exposure as the Canada Line skytrain crosses the bridge on the way to Richmond. The train's light trail ends at the first bridge upstand.
As part of the lead up to the Winter Olympics, the Canada Line opened in August 2009. It connects Vancouver, Richmond and Vancouver International Airport. The reviews and ridership numbers have been positive.
This fellow stayed nice and still early this summer to get this macro. Always nice when they want to model for you. I told him a great shot and I will make him a flickr star (lol). ;^)
I hope everyone enjoys this image! :^)
The scientific name for this species is: Melanoplus bivittatus.
Once a year I'm invited by a local photo arts club to adjudicate one of their monthly competitions. Prior to 2020 I would attend an evening event and judge the images live; after 2020 the club switched to on-line judging followed up with a Zoom meeting.
Photos are grouped into 20 categories and one assigned category; scoring is a 7/3 point system, with seven points for technical merits and three for creative interpretation.
Over the next few days I have 77 images to review, provide scores and comments on. As you can imagine, it's an enjoyable and time-consuming task. See ya in a few days.

Gulls are synonymous with the seaside, but they are notorious pirates as well. They will steal your food from your hand quicker than you can say 'watch out!' This one was stalking, ready to pounce.
Compositionally Challenged Week 13 Photographer's Choice
My personal theme: Photo-reportage. Telling stories with images is my favourite and most satisfying application of photography.
Joshua got baptized last weekend. Here he is afterwards dressed in a tie and the center of attention. He is surrounded by all his younger cousins on both sides who came to the baptism. Such a sweet boy!

When someone mentions BNSF's Hi Line Sub I immediately think of the stretch of railway between Java and Summit Montana. With two main tracks clinging to a shelf above the valley, and numerous snow sheds this area is a great place to watch the passage of freight. Photography on this part of the railway can be challenging, with access to most locations gained by hiking, or more recently, from the air.
So on a typical October afternoon (note the lack of sun) a westbound Z train snakes along the shelf and through the sheds along my favorite portion of the Hi Line.
A lush green line of grass leading past the dead gum trees.
Early morning on the Eastern shore line of Lake Bonney, South Australia.
The sky looked promising for some thunderstorms but nothing much eventuated.
