A 5 second long exposure as the Canada Line skytrain crosses the bridge on the way to Richmond. The train's light trail ends at the first bridge upstand.
As part of the lead up to the Winter Olympics, the Canada Line opened in August 2009. It connects Vancouver, Richmond and Vancouver International Airport. The reviews and ridership numbers have been positive.
The Watercress Line is the marketing name of the Mid-Hants Railway, a heritage railway in Hampshire, England, running 10 miles (16 km) from New Alresford to Alton where it connects to the National Rail network. The line gained its popular name in the days when it was used to transport locally grown watercress to markets in London. The railway currently operates regular scheduled services, along with dining trains, real ale trains and numerous special events throughout the year.

When someone mentions BNSF's Hi Line Sub I immediately think of the stretch of railway between Java and Summit Montana. With two main tracks clinging to a shelf above the valley, and numerous snow sheds this area is a great place to watch the passage of freight. Photography on this part of the railway can be challenging, with access to most locations gained by hiking, or more recently, from the air.
So on a typical October afternoon (note the lack of sun) a westbound Z train snakes along the shelf and through the sheds along my favorite portion of the Hi Line.
Once a year I'm invited by a local photo arts club to adjudicate one of their monthly competitions. Prior to 2020 I would attend an evening event and judge the images live; after 2020 the club switched to on-line judging followed up with a Zoom meeting.
Photos are grouped into 20 categories and one assigned category; scoring is a 7/3 point system, with seven points for technical merits and three for creative interpretation.
Over the next few days I have 77 images to review, provide scores and comments on. As you can imagine, it's an enjoyable and time-consuming task. See ya in a few days.
