6M31 0953 Hunslet Tilcon to Arcow Quarry rushes past Hellifield with its fine canopies. As was also visible on the ground level shots, the effect of the platform and canopy is to suck the exhaust fumes down and out underneath the train.

Pett Levels again on the east Sussex coast and again two images put together in PS one of the sky and the other of the beach! I love the light on the sand and those fabulous ripples, All these series of shots were taken on the same evening and they all can be cropped in various ways to get an entirely different image ! Went with my dear friend Jan ( jankmarshall ) who is also on flickr!
The evening before, I headed to Troyes. Not coincidentally, Troyes is a stop on France's ligne 4... and Sundays were still a good day to watch the loco-hauled trains between Paris and Belfort. I was going to explore the stretch north of Troyes, south of Longueville, by then one of the last stretches of the line I hadn't explored. I had seen some nice photos, but I didn't want to limit myself to those locations. I kept them in mind, just in case, and started driving. First stop would be Savières. The old house of the level crossing keeper was a good background for the first train to Paris.

56096 in charge again on what now seems to be a single loco duty for the Shrewsbury - Holyhead section of the 3S71 railhead treatment train. The ground signal controls access for the little used triangle since the demise of the Flask train workings.
