Autumn on the Jitong Railway and QJs 6905 and 7040 are on the second level of the looping climb above Reshui on the Jinpeng section of the line. The line will soon pass through a curving tunnel to emerge directly behind and almost level with me. The line can be seen approaching Reshui and crossing the river on a long viaduct before swinging away along the first level.
The evening before, I headed to Troyes. Not coincidentally, Troyes is a stop on France's ligne 4... and Sundays were still a good day to watch the loco-hauled trains between Paris and Belfort. I was going to explore the stretch north of Troyes, south of Longueville, by then one of the last stretches of the line I hadn't explored. I had seen some nice photos, but I didn't want to limit myself to those locations. I kept them in mind, just in case, and started driving. First stop would be Savières. The old house of the level crossing keeper was a good background for the first train to Paris.

Villa Gregoriana is a park in Tivoli, Italy which seamlessly blends natural and man-made wonders. Commissioned by Pope Gregory XVI, from whom it takes its name, in 1835, Villa Gregoriana was laid-out in the bed of the Aniene River at the foot of Tivoli's Acropolis. Its aim was to protect Tivoli from the force of the floods of the Aniene. Ideally bucolic, it became the landmark and favourite landscape of poets and painters in the 19th century.
The main attractions at Villa Gregoriana are the caves of Neptune and the Sirens, the many gorges and cascades and the 100 meters waterfall, all of which are complemented by the ancient treasures including Roman remains. Amongst these are the villa of Roman consul Manlius Vopiscus and the Temple of Vesta overlooking the ravine.

The local camera club was doing a photowalk in downtown Elgin last night. We were shooting a church from the second floor (first floor for my British friends) of the parking garage and had just taken a group shot. As I was looking out upon the scene, I started feeling that tingling sensation (no, not THAT tingling sensation). So I took the shot, more as a joke than anything else. I have a reputation for taking "weird" photographs, so I have to maintain my rep. When I looked at it later, I kinda liked it. Emptyness, simplicity, minimalism, repetition, vanishing points, rule of thirds, and almost mononchrome except for that splash of orange. What's not to like?
I may enter it in the club competition just to watch the judges' heads explode.

A small opening to the blue sky above provides enough light to make the sandstone walls of Upper Antelope Canyon glow as though lit from within. The previous pictures were from Lake Powell's Antelope Canyon arm. The slot canyons are above lake level and dry except during heavy rainfalls, which can cause flash floods through the canyons with water levels of 10-15 feet or more.

One more attempt to warm up the parts of the country under the grip of the polar vortex. This shot was taken in the morning, and it was pleasantly cool deep in the slot canyon. See the picture of the thermometer below in comments to see the temperature later that afternoon outside.

On Thursday (22 April 2021) I had a lovely day out with ianbartlett. We parked at Pett Level, walked west towards Hastings and then east towards Rye. It was a lovely sunny day, but the wind made it chilly at times.
One of the many waterfalls in the Brecon Beacons National Park around Nedd Fechan. Waders essential and a camera position near water level.

I never thought much about koalas and their young and really had no idea of the level of affection they had until I witnessed it for myself.
The mum's are really affectionate to their joeys often cuddling them close and being protective of them.
A Monarch caterpillar has decided to attach itself to our rose bush while waiting for metamorphosis to occur. Its been such a mild winter so far that we are still seeing Monarchs laying their eggs on our swan plants.
Not a euphemism for something nasty but a very quiet spot on the Levels. I walk there quite often and rarely see another soul.
