The first shot with my brand new camera. It's a Nikon d40. . . bottom of the line, but I love it all the same!

Just a test of the 4/3rds mount Sigma 30mm/1.4 on my new Olympus E-M1.

Olympus E-PM1 & Oly LensCap 15/8

i think, at some point, everybody took a picture of their lenscap.

as I dont want be left out, here goes mine =)

This is my first macro shot. so wanted to share with u.

Low indoor light, and no tripod resulted in a slight blurry image.

But overall outcome was not that disappointing to me. =)

For your information: I am not a Nikon fanatic. =)

and i hope my cannon loving brothers will not abandon me for this. =P

i recommend watching it in the Lighbox. Definitely makes it look a little less horrible. =P

Mandatory shot

Every FD lens i have except my 2 35-70 AF lenses, 70-210mm and nFD600mm ultratele.

finished the vast majority of my exams now, leave school tomorrow

needed some chill time so took some water photos

placed camera vertically over white-lined dish filled with water, used on camera flash

in retrospective, I see a few amateur flaws, will try to avoid them if I do a similar shot in the future!

This is a custom mount for the 500mm Tele-Xenar. The rear element is too large to fit onto the camera, so the entire lens needs to moounted in front of the lens board. The mount seperates so that the original lenscap can be put back on the rear element. The adapter still needs to be black anodized.

This was in the camera case of a totally different brand of camera I found in an antique store and paid $1 for. So, I got this perfectly good 55mm lens cap that I now use on my Minolta Zoom 28-70mm lens.

This is the original image I worked from. The camera lay on the desk and chose this image itself

Project 52 - "Week" 20

So I've been at this photography thing for about 9 months now. I crave the knowledge like a crackhead craves crack. I've taken a couple classes. Signed up for my first seminar. I'm reading 2-3 books at a time; not to mention staying on top of blogs, websites and Flickr streams like a stalker.

If you aren't already, I highly recommend checking out these folks...

Not to mention all the geniuses here on Flickr.

I love this place.

Who out there do you recommend?

Strobist - Vivitar 285 @ 1/16 power, snooted by some black foamy craft stuff camera right.

This 52mm lens cap is the best one I could find for the Zuiko 50mm macro lens.

Strobist Info: Shot in a bathtub. One FL-50R through a white umbrella.

If you want to shoot a product from directly overhead, this is a quick way to get perfectly even lighting. That way your product is bathed in light!

I haven't tested it with a variety of products yet.

My friend once more approached me to do some product shots for her. This time it's for the JJC Auto lens cap for the LX5. I get to keep the cap in return. :)

I had this idea to use my flash, but found the result a bit barren. So I expanded the image to my full name.

(Hm, don't look to close to this picture or you will see all the scratches on the table and the dust, the light is unrelenting. LOL)

ODC - Theme (12-11-2011): Depict your first initial

Found it in very good shape at the weekendmarket here in Maastricht! Came with original box, case, lenscap, lenshood, filter.

Can't wait to test it out!

Sorry for the boring photo, I have not taken any cool ones in forever, but I have a series planned and hopefully some of those will be taken soon!I have some exams next week so this weekend is one of maths revision, which as you might have guessed is no fun. Although on Wednesday I'm off down to London with a few other people from my school to see the Olympic Village and some aquatics event, so I'm looking forward to that. I got tagged by Emily, Ellie and Katherine so I suppose I better do it :)

The tag is to write down my four favourite songs and tell you all why they mean so much to me. This is probably going to be really hard for me because I'm so bad at deciding these things, but those other guys made some really good choices!

#1 Ron Pope - Drop In The Ocean

A drop in the ocean, a change in the weather, I was praying that you and me might end up together.

I just really love the lyrics to this song, and his voice is so beautiful that I just have this on repeat all the time. I think it's so beautiful if you haven't already heard it. "It's too late to cry, too broken to move on." Sorry, just had to add another lyric in there.

#2 Parachute - Philadelphia

Cause sometimes it's the demons, that are standing in the end.

she thought that love was gonna fight,

she thought that love was gonna take her home,

she thought that love was gonna save her,

but love just never showed.

I'm just really a fan of a song because of the lyrics, and in this I really just love the words, I love the rest of the song too because Parachute are wonderful but yeah, it's a great song with a great meaning.

#3 Lady Antebellum - Stars Tonight

Get on your feet if it feels good, if it feels right, cause we're all stars tonight.

This is just a really happy lively song and it makes me feel happy. I don't know why but yes, Lady Antebellum are awesome too.

#4 Taylor Swift - Change

They might be bigger, but we're faster and never scared.

and and and These walls that they put up to hold us back fell down.

it's such a powerful song and I love the whole meaning of it, because things can change.

THAT WAS SO HARD. THESE AREN'T EVEN MY FAVOURITE SONGS. THERE'S NO MARIANAS TRENCH OR ELI YOUNG BAND OR HOT CHELLE RAE OR BIRDY OR BIFFY CLYRO OR FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE OR ... i could go on for a while but yeah, anyway, bye!

and if I haven't tagged you, feel free to do it anyway! <3

tumblrrrrr

I took my Sigma's lens cap and my bright-outdoor filters (a circular polarizer and a UV filter), and plopped these down on a film tank reel. Set up my opposing studio lights and started shooting.

I wanted a good baseline of how the light really treats the finer details (like letters). The result ended up kind of cool so I think that it's worthy of posting here.

he´s crazy about lenscaps - because they are big but light and easy to throw on the floor and it makes a lot of noise and I always jump up and try to get it - so whenever he can lay his beak on one, he´s there.

All my lenses seem to work properly with the metabones and the camera. I find the formfactor amazing^^ Camera is not much more than a lenscap.

This is not a fisheye, it really is a rectilinear lens!

The ring on the left side slides over the petal shaped hood, it's both part of the lenscap and serves as filter holder when needed.

This one is the early manual focus version, there are also AF models.

My days are filled with songs, laughter, apple juice, bananas, blankies, rhymes, play, dance, talk and seeing the world through the eyes of an 8 month old. My niece's daughter. Fortunately for me, the lens cap is almost as good as a babysitter and keeps her happy while I play with my camera:)

CANON under its own light

Having another photographer with you is like having another pair of eyes. My daughter spotted this Mayfly, befriended it, and was shooting it, before I realized that it presented a photo opportunity.

Ralph pushed me to do "something mechanical, a machine or mechanism". Here is a lens cap being taken apart for cleaning.

One of the worst things for putting dirt on your lens is the lens cap. I was worried about immersing it in water to clean it until I found out how to take it apart.

It's really quite simple. It's 3 bits of plastic and two springs. Using a straightened paper clip ( not sure what to use when we go paperless!), carefully lift the plastic arm on both sides of the sliding piece and it will pull right out. Do it carefully so as not to lose the spring. Now the bits can be cleaned in soapy water using a soft brush if needed for the really dirty bits. Once dry it just pushes back together.
