cloud iridenscence - taken with a home-made pinhole made by drilling a small hole in a lenscap, giving an effective aperture around f/30.
Figured why not try some product photography. :)

Un minimalista fotográfico bodegón. Advertí la casual composición cuando estaba comprobando la cámara y decidí fotografiarla con un enfoque selectivo sobre la tapa del objetivo. Es tan minimalista que, por no haber, no hay ni cámara ;-)

A minimalist photographic still life. I noticed the random composition when I was checking the camera and I decided to capture it with a selective focus on the lens cap. It is so minimalist that there isn't even a camera ;-).

We went to Norway, Stavanger to more precise for almost three weeks and I only took family snapshots the whole time, it was brilliant. Since it was the first proper vacation I have taken since 2005 so I was really in the mindset to just relax and take it easy so I didn´t shoot a lot but I liked this shot.
I don´t have the name of this cat, it was being "babysitted" by people we visited. I am not really much of an cat person but I was playing with it with a piece of string and I noticed it had some interest in the neck strap of the camera so I removed the lenscap, did some quick exposure adjustments and took this shot blind (that is, not looking through the viewfinder), holding the camera against the floor. It´s taken at 16mm so you can imagine how close the cat was.
It´s one of my first times ever photographing a pet. I do like the focus, distortion and lighting in it and the expression of the cat.
Euromast is an observation tower in Rotterdam, Netherlands, designed by Hugh Maaskant constructed between 1958 and 1960. It was specially built for the 1960 Floriade, and is a listed monument since 2010. The tower is a concrete structure with an internal diameter of 9 m (30 ft) and a wall thickness of 30 cm (12 in).[6] For stability it is built on a concrete block of 1,900,000 kg (4,200,000 lb) so that the centre of gravity is below ground. It has a "crow's nest" observation platform 96 m (315 ft) above-ground and a restaurant. Originally 101 m (331 ft) in height it was the tallest building in Rotterdam. It lost this position for a while, but regained it when the Space Tower was added to the top of the building in 1970, giving an additional 85 m (279 ft). Do you see a lens cap in there? A 67mm black plastic center-squeeze, original Sony?
Neither do I but that's the last place I saw it, bouncing off the rock I was standing on into an outgoing wave.
Not such a big deal, that thing had been a pain in the ass for a while, popping off with the slightest touch. Only problem is, if you're out on the Olympic Peninsula, there is no place to buy a replacement 67mm lens cap. There are no camera stores or Best Buys or anywhere else big enough to have that sort of thing, which admittedly is part of the appeal (there is of course a Wally World, which of course had no lens caps at all). So in a place with a fair amount of salt spray and dust and other of the usual stuff you find outside, I had no lens cap. Worked out OK, I just used the polarizer and cleaned that when I wanted to shoot through it but it had to be unscrewed every time I wanted to take a shot of something so I did miss that shot of the sea monster with the naked mermaid riding it...
Anyway, here's a nice sea arch.

The rear lenscap (attached to the lens) is probably not made by Canon. (Underneath the lens is a modern Canon EOS rear lenscap.)
Taken with a Canon T2i/550D and Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens at f/6.3. 52 1/5-second exposures at ISO100 in a focus stack (DoF stack) were combined with Zerene Stacker in DMAP mode. The exposures were spaced by pressing the ">" button on the EOS utility live-view screen.
This is a 50% crop of the original image.
Here is my Leica D-Lux 5.
I lit the scene with a Nikon SB28 flash bounced of a white umbrella slightly tilted towards the left to highlight the side. Also used 2 sheets of paper taped to the tripod to highlight the front filter.

2 Tripods (1 for umbrella + 1 to mount flash)

1 Red cloth
1 Filter box (to lift the left side of the camera and rest lenscap)
3 10c coins (to help lift the lens)
1 soft cap (added shape to the foreground)
1 (computer) mouse (to give background extra shape)
1 Rolled carpet (to help lift up the red cloth)
2 sheets of paper (to highlight the filter/lens)
Exposure: 1/30sec. @ f/4.0
Film Speed: ISO 100
Camera: Nikon D80
Lens: Nikkor 50mm 1.8
4:3 Screen Format
I bought an old (ca. 1890) lens with no maker's marks on it, but in the rectilinear style of the time. It came with a set of Waterhouse stops. I mounted it on a board and put it on my 5x7 Gundlach Korona and went for a test shoot. Here's the result, shot on some Efke 100 and souped in HC110 dil. B. I used the lenscap "shutter' method, roughly one second at f/44.
I invited Russ, a.k.a. karmagroovy, out to Dry Creek Falls, Sweeney Falls, and most importantly, Solstice (the best restaurant in the Gorge, hands down) yesterday. Russ is a great sport, as you can see in the photo below in the comments section. The sign is a little hard to read, but it says: "I have bad karma today. I feel it closing in on me. Help!"
Russ kept the local flickr meetups alive and thriving for about 5 years before passing the torch. He's enthusiastic, fun, interesting, and a great photographer. I like remembering topics of conversation when shooting with people. On this occasion, we talked about photography, food, peppered pig's rectum, how you know you've found someone special when you can comfortably survive a long road trip with them, and much more. Strangely, I think this was only the third time I've shot with Russ since I began attending the meetups back in 2006. Special thanks to Russ' wife Patty for providing us with fabulous baked goods for our journey! Yummy!
A proffessional photographer once advised me, every photographer's collection of images should contain at least one of a lens cap. So here is mine.
Or he might of said landscape, I'm not sure, he had a strong accent

holga long exposure. i removed the shutter assembly from a holga and used the lenscap as a rudimentary shutter. kodak gold 100 film.

two days ago, on my walk on lake thun i lost the lenscap. so i had to go again today, down to the lake and look for it. yes, lucky woman i am, it was waiting for me somewhere in the grass. swimming in the still cold lake thun was great and evoked ideas :-)
