As I watched this tender moment, it appeared to me a daughter was spending quiet, quality time with her elderly father, who was on a walker. Her dog sat quietly and patiently, as though he understood the importance of this moment.

Details in the souk of the modern part of Dubai near the creek, this souk is build in the way of the traditional houses.
Der dem alten Souk gegenüberliegende Teil von Dubais am Dubai Creek ist in traditioneller Bauweise errichtet. Man hat den Eindruck, es handele sich um Jahrhunderte alte Häuser.
While I don't have any mementos of my father, I do have numerous tools that he gave me and taught me how to use; lessons that have lasted a lifetime. I used this dial caliper in the laboratory for many years and they now it is on the studio table and is used regularly to measure subjects for Macro Mondays. Area size 70 x 70 mm

Some stiff winds during the afternoon blew these oak apple galls from the canopy of the mixed hardwood forest along the Red Cedar River. These galls are very light and spongy with a smooth texture. Each contains a larva of the oak apple gall wasp (Amphibolips quercusinanis). The galls are formed from leaf tissue that undergoes a significant change after the female was injects a egg into a leaf bud or leaf tissue, resulting in a protective structure and nourishes the larva until it emerges an adult. These oak gall apples are roughly 1.5 - 2 inches in diameter.

Eastgate Park, Meridian Township, Michigan
I spotted this little woodpecker quickly moving around smaller branches of a maple tree along the banks of the Red Cedar River. The tapping sound was rather faint and at first made me think it was much further away.
It is interesting to observe the behavior of these birds, as they are so well adapted to both their environment and the way in which they feed on wood inhabiting insects. Their claws and stiff tail feathers allow them to brace themselves as they hammer away at the tree and hang from branches in various position, including upside down.
