Wood frogs (Lithobates sylvaticus) are common throughout North America from Alaska, to the southern Appalachians. They are noted for their freeze tolerance and can tolerate repeated freeze/thaw events during winter. They inhabit ephemeral wetlands and tend to be active from early spring to late autumn. Size, approximately 2.0 - 2.8 inches, females larger than males. Normal coloration tan to brown, but may be capable of changing color to blend into surroundings.

Macro Monday - Shadows theme
The subject in this image is a Zuni wolf fetish. The wolf is considered to be a guardian of the East. In the Zuni culture fetishes represent animal spirits that reside in the stone used in the carving. The stones used in this carving are jet and turquoise. The wolf symbolizes successful hunting and working together to benefit the group, The wolf is also considered a teacher and a pathfinder.

This picture was tken with the 28 mm lens at an October afternoon with view to Spritzkarspitze and Grubenkarspitze at Großer Ahornboden, Karwendel.
After careful post processing in Lightroom I added an additional gradation curve via a layer adjusted for that subject in Photoshop.
Not sure what is novel about squeezing a clove of garlic, but it is marked on the handle.

This little cluster of of Mycena leaiana mushrooms was hard to miss against the dark brown of the oak leaf litter that covered the decaying branch they sprouted from.

We spent a few hours at the Des Moines Botanical Garden this morning. Bright sun, clear skies and autumnal temperatures. T our delight, there were quite a few butterflies, including numerous monarchs, feeding on a variety of flowers.

A couple more shots from the 2023 Des Moines Concours d'Elegance. This is a very rare example of a beautifully restored sports car that was powered by an inline 6 cyl Nash engine, with body work by the UK firm Austin Healey. The lines are remarkably clean and elegant when compared to the retro styling of the much more popular MG TC and TD of the same era.
