Legg Park along the Red Cedar River, Meridian Township, Michigan
The woods were unusually quiet during a recent walk along the paths paralleling the Red Cedar River. It's possible that the warm dry weather has had an impact, as well as the time of day. It seems, however, that the number and diversity of the birds in this area is lower than last year. This robin was one of a small number of birds I saw along the path during my walk.
This little female red squirrel was at first curious about the camera and began coming toward it. Then the shutter clicked and she changed her mind. Probably sounded a bit like the squirrel proof bird feeders.

Chrysemys picta picta
Swampy area along Turner Road, Meridian Township, Michigan. I was looking for frogs, and couldn't see this turtle for the longest time, even though it was looking at me.
This is a further panorama from the cloudy sunset at Zugspitze taken in February 2022. I merged 3 single shots taken from the tripod with the 180 mm lens o get the panorama view. Clouds were already lifting a bit at the summit of Zugspitze at the right side. A few minutes later the summit was visible for a short period of time.

Warmer weather has returned for a few days and a few birds are flying again, but very few sightings along the wooded paths.
First sighting of a great blue heron this year. Nice to catch it in flight.

This is an injured hawk that is held in captivity at the nature center, adjacent to the feeders. It seemed rather sad and resigned to its fate as it was peering out into the adjacent woodland, which is reflected in its eye.
This panorama was merged from 3 single shots taken with the 180 mm lens from the tripod at a cloudy sunset at Zugspitze. The summit of Zugspitze itself was hidden by the clouds at the right side while Riffeltorspitzen and Riffeltorkopf were visible. Before merging the raw files were carefully edited in Lightroom with the same parameters for each one which is working quite easy with copy and paste, the challenge sometimes is rather to find out which parameters are suited best for the whole panorama.

This little ornament used to adorn a kitchen window many years ago but has been packed away following a move. It seemed a perfect subject to bring to life with a bit of backlight.
