Red leaves were out in localized areas. This wetland area of Owasco Inlet was calm and the overcast sky allowed for great reflections. It was a fairly scenic first weekend of autumn.

A local park has this swimming pool that appeared no different than a frozen-over pond or creek. It will be nice to see everything thaw out soon.

Back country, Northeastern Brazil. Region hitted by drought. People have to walk several miles in some cases, carrying heavy buckets to get some clean water. City: Barra de Santa Rosa, State: Paraíba.
Six Mile Creek at Mulholland Wildflower Preserve is beautiful. I hadn't walked up the path like this before. Future visits are planned in order to see more of the area.

Changeable weather has brought in interesting clouds. They have made the sunrises and sunsets spectacular. At other times they've made for miserable gray skies and ones that make star gazing impossible. Times like this one are extra rewarding.

Wet snow was really coming down on a dark afternoon. I had driven by areas covered in snow. This spot didn't look as nice but there was more light to work with at that moment. The moody winter storm photo is what I ended up with.

I got this photo while passing through Watkins Glen to see family. Another town up here I used to call home. I'm not sure if some of these towns are better to live in or visit. Either way I've experienced them from inside and out.

I pass by this abandoned old house rather often. I've read articles that show how the interior has impressive woodwork. I can imagine how much effort and money would need to go into renovations.
I wonder if some historical society can save it.

The base of the falls provides a great vantage point. The water level was high, so I had less room to work with in the gorge. Fortunately there was almost no snow, ice, or mud. It was safe and fun to get my photos and video.

The sunsets have brought life to otherwise drab landscapes. I get out of work just in time to see them during fall and winter. The sunlight on the coating of snow looked amazing.

The colors of the landscapes are faint after the leaves have fallen. It gets colder and stormy. There are still plenty of grand things to photograph.

leafless tree on Mount Lemmon, with a summit elevation of 9,159 feet, is the highest point in the Santa Catalina Mountains. It is located in the Coronado National Forest north of Tucson, Arizona, United States. Mount Lemmon was named for botanist Sara Plummer Lemmon, who trekked to the top of the mountain with her husband and E. O. Stratton, a local rancher, by horse and foot in 1881. The Catalina Highway, also called the Mount Lemmon Highway, as well as the Hitchcock Highway (after Frank Harris Hitchcock) runs up the Santa Catalina Mountains from the east side of Tucson up to Summerhaven, at the top of Mt. Lemmon. The beautiful, curving road is a favorite drive for tourists, for locals escaping summer's heat and cyclists, and has been recently designated as the Sky Island Parkway, part of the US National Scenic Byway system.
The sun sets between the trees and the mountains in the middle of the fields of the Malla Valley, where the intense cold of winter begins to be felt.
I often find it necessary to view the sunset skies without the sun in view. The clouds looked like they were painted in this stretch of sky.

Another extremely cold day, another great sunset. I see the beginning of sunrises on my way to work too. The timing and temperatures aren't so great for sunrise photography this time of year. I'm happy to wait for these opportunities later in the day.

Much more relaxing than a sunday drive.
While taking a leisurely Sunday stroll along the water front, I came across this couple enjoying lunch together in Myrtle Edwards Park next to this wonderfully barren tree. Leafless trees have been somewhat of an obsession of late, so naturally the scene before me sparked my interest. I would have taken a photo of the tree itself, the couple was simply icing on the cake.
I have written some about the cold spring we have been having in the Pacific Northwest this year (I was tempted to say unseasonably cold, but honestly it might be this way every year and I just can’t seem to remember), and I found the bundled up couple who biked to their picnic location a true testament to Northwesterners. Overcast skies and the threat of rain doesn’t keep us in doors. If it did we wouldn’t get much done around here. So while we wait for warmer days to come, we simply throw on an extra layer or a rain jacket and go about our day as though it was nice out.
I was doing some spring cleaning and also swung by Buttermilk Falls. Most of the snow had melted and the falls were running strong.

We came into Doughton Park a different way this time, and it not only made for a shorter hike to our preferred spot but we also passed this fabulous tree. I think we'll be using this entrance from now on. :)
Right now, I wish I could pick myself up and start all over. That doesn't mean I don't love everyone in my life, it's just.. I feel dull.
I'm the type of person that's gets really frustrated with things midway through and wants to stop. I never used to be like that, I don't know what changed. Maybe because I feel like I'm in such a rut? Anyways, I skipped yesterday. I just couldn't yesterday. I didn't want to go to work, I didn't want to shower, I didn't want to do anything. I couldn't focus long enough to study for my ethics final. Blah blah blah. Enough whining -- I get tired of hearing myself whine.
I don't know. But this semester is FINALLY over. I'm so glad. I have a month-ish of just work to worry about. Then all four classes are classes I'm excited about. Hopefully I'll be back in the swing of things in a week.

I decided to go to the upper overlooks after I hiked the lower trail. It didn't take much time and it was a great day to witness the falls at their best. Its important to be out in nature to take in the fresh air and to enjoy the sights and sounds.

The sun lowered behind darker clouds near the horizon. The brightness and colors became more muted. It would have been better to get a photo a few minutes before this but I'll take it.
